Overview

About the property

Rates are for 1-4 people. Dog Friendly. With the beach out front and the boat ramp just up the road seaside living couldn't be much easier.

This easy care self-contained cottage has an L-shaped open plan lounge, dining and kitchen. The kitchen window looks out to a veranda that runs the length of the house and overlooks the garden.

OUTDOOR FEATURES:

The rambling back garden has several large shady peppermint trees that are home to endangered Western Ring Tail Possums. Using a torch you can spot them at night. Another nocturnal feeder is the Western Brown Bandicoot or Quenda after which Quindalup was named. Small conical holes can often be seen in lawns after Quendas have been foraging. There are also plenty of pesky rabbits!

The spacious verandah, ideal for alfresco dining, has an 8 seater jarrah table and a hooded gas BBQ and tools. Two smaller 4 seater tables can be moved to pleasant spots in the garden. There is usually one under the mulberry tree.

There is ample parking for cars and a boat around the lemon tree in the middle of the front lawn.

CLOSE TO HOME: Just a few steps away is the beach and the clean waters of Geographe Bay...no crowds and plenty of room for everyone to do their thing. A small jetty by the boat ramp is a good spot to sit and dangle a fishing line. The dog beach is right out the front to run with your furry friend. Occasionally you will see horses being exercised.

It is less than 5 minutes walk to Toby's Inlet, a canal like stream that runs parallel to the road and drains into Geographe Bay. Here there is an abundance of birdlife and fish such as mullet and black bream. A short but pretty walking trail can be entered from the car park opposite the boat ramp and it exits onto Campion Way.

A dual purpose cycle/walking path runs next to the beach through bushland and grassy parks to Dunsborough. If you're not feeling energetic or you want to shop, a short drive will take you to shops, restaurants, post office, beauty salons, medical centre, Internet cafe and just about anything else that comes to mind.

FURTHER AFIELD: Whether you're into nature, arty stuff, sport or wine tasting there is something for you within easy driving distance.

NATURE: There are several scenic drives and hiking trails along the rocky coastline of the Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge. Have a picnic in Boranup Forest.

Interested in caves? Take a tour through the impressive Mammoth, Lake or Jewel Caves.

SURFING: This part of the world is famous for surfing at spots like Yallingup and the Three Bears.

OTHER SPORTS: Apart from water sports there are other sporting opportunities including tennis and golf. For the super sporty there is the triathlon competition on Geographe Bay. There are several golf courses and one on the main road just a short distance from Bayside Cottage.

WINERIES & BREWERIES : In the Margaret River Wine Region that includes Dunsborough there are over 90 wineries. Apart from wine tasting many have lovely gardens, restaurants, galleries, free picnic areas and activities such as boules (like aerial bowls). Operating in a similar manner there are a growing number of boutique breweries.

FOR THE KIDS: There are icecreameries, chocolate & fudge factories, reptile & bird parks, animal farms, mazes and many, many other things.

It would take much more than a week to see the everything this area has to offer!

INDOOR FEATURES

LOUNGE: Very comfortable leather sofas, quality carpet, LCD TV, DVD and reverse cycle air conditioner. An AM/FM CD/radio is provided along with books.

DINING: Table with 6 bentwood chairs. There are 4 extra indoor stacking chairs.

Very comfortable older style cottage

  • 5 of 5

Although not the best week to visit Dunsborough although just prior to Easter, due to the weather and the seaweed well over knee deep on the beach, the cottage itself offered very comfortable amenities for the three of us, myself, husband and Chester our labrador. Absolutely everything required was there in the cottage including the very nice bottle of wine and chocolates. Thank you Darelle, a lovely thought. The backyard is secure for the dog and he had a lovely time out there checking out who had been previously! The back outside area offers a very comfortable area for outdoor meals when the weather is kind enough. Darelle is a very conscientious owner who phoned to make sure everything is as it should be.

Owner's Response: Margaret...I’m so glad you enjoyed staying at the cottage. Mother Nature has her way of reminding us who is in charge. The beach will be white and pristine and just when we’re starting to take it for granted she dumps mountains of weed all over it! As it breaks down it is supposed to bring in the fish! Guest dogs do love the yard with all its nooks and crannies, wildlife smells and lost tennis balls in the bushes. We appreciate that you left the cottage in great condition. Thank you for choosing our place to stay. You are welcome back anytime. Best wishes...Darelle

Fantastic holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Darelle for sharing your beautiful holiday cottage with us! The location was perfect for us, so tranquil and metres away from the bay where our dog enjoyed a swim with our teenage kids and even my 83 year old dad went in for a dip!

We took bikes and enjoyed the pretty bike path into Dunsborough. We loved just hanging out in the shady back garden after a hot few hours on the beach, watching all the birds.

The cottage itself was well equipped and the beds were so comfy!!

Thanks again, we will be back!!
