My husband, Matthew Wild is a chef, and with our two children, we are passionate about living a life thats adventurous, creative and spirited, and this shows in our homes in North Queensland and Europe. We travel a lot, but when we are not, we live between Beautiful Port Douglas, Wonga Beach and Amazing Berlin. Come and stay in our charming homes oozing art, soul and creative vibes. Our homes are created with love, lots of hard work, and a passion of collecting and creating. We search the world for items we love. As much as possible, we recycle building materials, and upcycle furniture. Our houses aren't fussy or pretentious, but they are all about charming you, making you feel great, and celebrating the creative spirit.
Tina Gonsalves purchased this Townhome in 2010
Why Tina Gonsalves chose Port Douglas
Both Matt and I have been based in the area since Port Douglas was a little fishing village in the early 80's. We bought this property from overseas, sight unseen, and poured a lot of love into it to turn it into our home. It was inspired by those beautiful North Queensland tropical homes of the 1970's that capture the sea breeze and embrace the environment. This property was our gorgeous home when the kids were younger. At the time, we were traveling a lot with our work, and then we holiday rented it when we traveled, but it was such a popular holiday rental (great position, great vibes, really spacious) that we then bought another home for us, and we now just share The Artists' Treehouse with other beautiful souls who seem to love it as much as we do. Each year, we spend time working on it to make it more beautiful, and more beautiful - so its an ongoing passion for creating the perfect home and the perfect holiday rental.
What makes this Townhome unique
The house has a large set of sliding doors opening to the balcony, which looks over towering paperbark trees. The afternoon light, reflecting on the polished timber floor boards creates the most spectacular warm tones. I love sitting on the balcony, reading a book, watching the people walk by and admiring the copious amounts bird life. We also love the huge front deck. We built a great table, and having a few afternoon beers here is really lovely. For larger groups staying, having two living rooms is a real benefit - sometimes the kids can be playing downstairs, and the adults can be chilling out upstairs for an hour or two. Guest also love the huge front courtyard that the kids can play in safely. It

You'll never want to leave!
This property is just so unique and quirky and beautifully presented. Tina goes above and beyond to ensure you enjoy your stay. Everything you need is provided for a comfortable stay in this home away from home. Our family of 5 spent 2 amazing weeks here and never wanted to leave. The open plan and tropical breeze meant we never used the air conditioner once and slept comfortably. Great location. You'll love the day bed on the balcony and breakfast at the huge mermaid table listening to the birds. Faultless!
Wonderful holiday home
Tina looked after us very well and responded very quickly to our emails. The house is very bohemian, with a welcoming comfort. Our children felt at home straight away.

We had a terrific week at the treehouse. The house is both stunning/ecletic and also very comfortable - with plenty of different spaces to chill out. And very kid friendly with a huge toy box & a bookcase full of kids books & Dvds - our 2 toddlers loved it. A few blocks walk from the beach in one direction & the main cafe strip in the other. Loved it & we would very happily visit again.

We had an absolutely brilliant time. The treehouse was just amazing - I just loved it in everyway. The second day at the Treehouse we went down to the little wharf at the end of the street and happened upon a fishing boat just back from sea after 2 weeks fishing - we brought a red emperor and some cod fresh off the boat!! Delicious:) We swam in the sea every day after a big walk along the beach up the hill and down into town for our morning coffee. Loved the book lounge in town. Read our books lying on the comfy couches upstairs in the treehouse - a small little yellow bird flew in a couple of times and hung from the light fitting in the lounge. The decor was so charming -and I loved the windows and sliding doors. The mermaid table was very cool. So many lovely touches I can't list them all!! My husband was on a bit of quest to find the best lamingtons - so we sampled quite a few on our explorations into the areas around Port Douglas.. The whole time we were on holiday I just thought we were staying in the best place in Port Douglas - it was lovely coming back to "our place" to cook up our meals and try out the new and exotic fruits we couldn't resist buying.
This unique artistic home, offered us a great experience which was beyond hosting us in Port Douglas
This unique artistic home, offered us a great experience which was beyond hosting us in Port Douglas. The house has everything one needs for a great vacation (baskets for the beach, big towels and beach toys and a cute pool), has all needed to have a comfy homy experience (nice soaps, soft towels, clean everything) and fun options to have the meals - bar sitting, big table, chairs on the balcony with BBQ and more... Above all it has a great creative artistic style with a humorist touch that adds a special edge to the whole experience. So glad we found this location it is the icing on the cake of any stay at Port Douglas:).
