Apartement is very clean and beautiful and has a lovely view. Lots of space for 2 children and 2 adults. Householder was available whenever we needed aything and was very flexible and incredibly nice. Situation of Stresa is good at the feet of alps. It is short drive to Milan Malpensa airport and it takes about 60 min morning rush hour to drive back airport.
This is a brilliant holiday apartment while offering none of the old world Italian style it's sleek contemporary, stylish and practical layout made it a pleasure to stay in.The property manager was professional easy and friendly to deal with and took a great sense of pride in the apartments. I booked it primarily for location and a view and wasn't disappointed. The only transport we needed was the very occasional taxi (also very reliable). Our legs did the rest as the town and ferry wharf were less than a very pleasant ten minute walk away, albeit there are steps involved. I would confidently recommend this apartment.
A wonderful stay. The apartment itself was extremely well-furnished - comfortable and with stylish modern furniture. Terrific views and we saw the lake in many different colours during the week. Self-catering was far preferable for us (family of four) to having to eat out all the time, and our teenage sons enjoyed several take-away pizzas on the balcony! The air con was a huge benefit given the August heat - it worked very well indeed throughout the apartment. All the service-related elements of the holiday worked like a treat - Chantal kindly booked a taxi for us to and from Malpensa and Giuliano (who managed the apartment) couldn't have been more helpful in checking us in and out. The town centre was only a few minutes down the hill - all pretty easy.
We enjoyed the lake trips, including the chair lift at Laveno (good food at top of mountain) and the Stresa cable car which unexpectedly opened while we were there. Our favourite island was Pescarore with its low key atmosphere and cafes. We also took the Centovali train to Santa Maria Maggiore, which is a pretty artistic town in the mountains - you have to go to Domodossola and change there. - it can be part of the round trip via Locarno on the lake Maggiore express if you like, but we just did is as a return from Stresa since we didn't want to spend the whole day travelling.
Tip - there is a shortcut to the station (for trips to Milan or the mountains) by turning left along the main road at the bottom of the garden, then after about 400 yards turning right down a narrow road/alleyway through some houses, then right into a bigger road, then left at the crossroads. Saves 10 minutes or so, though best to supplement my instructions with Google maps!
We'll be back if we can!
The description of the apartment was completely accurate and it had all the amenities we needed . It was extremely clean and well appointed . The views were stunning and we loved being close enough to walk into Stresa but far enough away to be quiet . The owner was really pleasant and helpful and gave us good advice about the area . We would definitely recommend it to others . We had a lovely stay there .
The owner was very kind and helpful by meeting us at the bus stop down town and driving us to our apartment, which was very clean and had a wonderful view overlooking Lake Maggiore. The 3 islands opposite Stresa were only a few minutes away and were worth a visit, especially Isla Bella with beautiful landscaped gardens and lots of white peacocks. The day trip to Locarno in Switzerland via train through the Alps and return trip by ferry is a must trip for only 34 Euros. We went to Cafe Torino in Piazza Cordona every night as the staff were so friendly and the food was very good at reasonable prices . We went on a day trip to Milan, an hour away by train. We would highly recommend this apartment as the perfect spot to explore Lake Maggiore.

High on the hill above Stresa is this delightful spacious modern apartment. The website pictures are a true representation of the place. Clean and well maintained with a well equipped kitchen, onsite parking and fast wifi. We were met on arrival by our congenial host who was most helpful. He spoke excellent English. We had the option of staying in the village but chose the quieter residence up the hill. It was the middle of winter so not a casual stroll to the village, but an easy 5minute drive. Highly recommended
Stresa is a beautiful, elegant town on Lake Maggiore. It lies at the foot of the Italian Alps. The airport at Malpensa is only 45 km away and Milan itself is about 80 km. There is a railway station in Stresa and bus service to other lakeside towns such as Arona and Verbania.
Stresa offers the ideal location for a relaxing or for a more active holiday.
The apartment is located in the hills just above Stresa and is just a short taxi ride from the station or a 10-minute walk into town centre via pedestrian steps and paths through the park. It is 1 km from the centre of Stresa.
From Lake Maggiore you can take a boat trip to the Borromean Islands (Isola Bella with its magnificent castle, Isola, Madre and Isola dei Pescatori with its fish restaurants). You can even take a boat to Switzerland. Also by the lake, there is a small beach and a playground for children.
There are many sporting activities on Lake Maggiore (swimming, boating, sailing, water skiing, scuba diving, windsurfing) and also on the slopes of the Mottarone mountain. In summer you can go hiking, mountain biking (guided tours can be arranged), paragliding, hang-gliding, horse-riding and in winter skiing, snowboarding or snowshoeing. There is cable car, which takes you to the summit of Mount Mottarone. From the summit you have a spectacular panorama of Lake Maggiore and the 6 other Alpine lakes and also of the Alps and of Monte Rosa and the Val Grande National Park.
There are many Golf Clubs including the Golf Club of the Borromean Islands and Golf Alpino (one of the oldest in Italy).
Day excursions are possible to Macugnaga, to the waterfalls in the valley of Val Toce Formazza or to the Simplon Pass or to the tiny exquisite Lake Orta.
There are many beautiful 19th century villas and gardens to visit such as Villa Taranto, Villa Pallavicino and the Alpinia Gardens. Stresa is also famous for its grand 'Belle Epoque' hotels that grace the shores of the lake.
For walkers, there are numerous lovely walks in the surrounding area and the Val Grande National Park is a hikers' paradise. Riding and tennis are also available.
For those of you in need of some serious shopping and culture and city-life, Milan is only a short 45 minutes away on the Express train from Stresa station.
I have other holiday rentals in Stresa and on Lake Maggiore, on Lake Orta, Lake Como and Lake Garda - please contact me for details.
