The property is short of maintenance

  • 3 of 5

When we arrived, no hot water was left. We called, but we got reply next morning, asking us to use the boosting button, but the button did not do anything. The hot water system heats up only after midnight.

The door lock of the shower room upstairs was not working

Two top beds of the bunkers were broken when we arrived. The boys had to sleep on the floor.

Owner's Response: Hi Adrian I would like to address some untruths in your comments - the boost button DOES NOT heat up after midnight - it heats up within half an hour of pushing it. We have asked our builder to address the door lock of the bathroom upstairs. It would have been appreciated if you had told us about the top bunks - we have never had an issue with these and I still do not know what you are talking about with this as we have had no complaints at all about these until this review and we have checked them ourselves and cannot find anything wrong with them. I have no idea why your boys would have had to sleep on the floor unless you had more guests than the house accommodates - another reason why you may have run out of hot water. We apologise that the house did not live up to your expectations but the issues mentioned in my opinion do not warrant a 3 star review.

Fantastic Holiday

What an excellent stay! It fit our large family perfectly. We never felt crowded with 14 people. Everything you need is there. Highly recommended. Thank you Leah!

Owner's Response: Thanks Rhiannon - I am so glad you enjoyed your stay! We agree - there is a good amount of space so even with large groups, we never feel crowded. Thank you very much for sharing your review, Leah

comfortable property, plenty of room

Not much has changed since the last time we stayed there, good location, served our purpose well. Crabbing. Needs some maintenance inside, very noisy downstairs, time for a fence and some shrubs.

Owner's Response: Hi John - a bit disappointed with your review. The only maintenance you told me about that was needed inside was a squeaking bed so I find this very misleading for future guests. The noise downstairs - this is something we are unable to control and have not had one guest complain about before despite a very large number of bookings. Perhaps it is from the tiled upstairs which is probably unique in a two storey house - usually the carpet would insulate more - but we were not about to carpet a beach house. 'Time for a fence' - we have avoided putting a fence up for the convenience of guests. We have large numbers of guests stay in one group for the house and manoeuvring a boat around the yard as well would be quite difficult if there was a fence up. It would have been nice to have had some of your positive comments from your emails feature in this review eg. 'I personally didn't have any real issues', 'All minor things', 'Lovely and clean' etc. Regards, Leah

Ideal property

  • 4 of 5

A spacious beach house which suited our requirements ie 8 Adults 7 Children Aged 6-14 years. Absolute foul weather, but layout allowed TV downstairs and board games etc upstairs. Spacious upstairs landing with views of St Vincents Gulph for some outdoor eating when weather permitted. Would consider again for another special family occasion.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review Greg - very unfortunate about the weather. We find the layout of the house great as well - especially when all the family stay, there's a space for everyone. We look forward to having you stay again - OBH :)

We stayed at the Oladdie House for 3 nights, couldn't fault anything. The facility was spacious, very clean and many beds to choose from. The best experience was the location of the house. Very close to the beach, allowed a nice panoramic view of the beach, especially the sunset in the evening. Highly recommended this place for those who want to stay at Adrossan (even though its a 5 min drive). Great for the kids and also great for a group of adults. My family and I are looking at dates on coming back. The owner of the house was very friendly. She was very prompt on replying back messages and emails. Loved the serviced!

Thanks heaps for everything.

A fantastic house in a great location! We stayed with a group of friends and enjoyed every minute. The facilities were great with a lovely view. Unfortunately we picked a bad weekend weather-wise but still enjoyed fishing at the Ardrossan Jetty.
