La Fon Rouge is situated in the hamlet of Boudy de Beauregard near Cancon with superb views across the magnificent French countryside in the beautiful Lot-et-Garonne region.

With 2.5 hectares of park and woodland, it is an ideal place to relax with a drink on the terrace or by the 10m x 5m pool, with plenty of room for the children to play safely.

An ideal location for your self catering holiday to explore this delightful region of France which remains largely undiscovered adjacent to the busier Dordogne. Not only for your summer holiday rental but for all year round rental, as all three properties have central heating.

The pool is not heated so is open in the summer period from mid-May to the end of September.

La Fon Rouge is a large traditional stone farmhouse with oak beams converted into a beautiful 5 bedroom holiday home with a terrace with commanding views over the French countryside with a built in barbecue. There is a well equipped kitchen and dining area with open access to the impressive lounge, which extends the full height of the two storey building with a spiral staircase leading to the landing on the first floor. French doors open out towards the pool area on the side, and to a private terrace at the rear of the property. There are 4 very good sized double bedrooms upstairs, one of which can sleep up to 4 people, and a large bathroom and separate toilet. Downstairs is a 5th double bedroom taking the maximum occupancy to 12. There is another bathroom downstairs along with the utility room. There are plenty of tables and chairs for all guests to use.

Wonderful setting - accomodating owners

We stayed in la Grange for two months. The place was beautifully furnished and the grounds and pool were fantastic. Ian and Keith were both extremely helpful with plenty of advice about the area. Would definitely stay again !

A perfect week at La Fon Rouge!

La Fon Rouge

We stayed for 1 week in the ‘La Cabanon.’ Our family of 2 adults and 2 children found the accommodation was extremely spacious, even though it is the smallest accommodation at La Fon Rouge for a family of 4 it was perfect. A complimentary bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch! The converted (barn I guess?) was nicely furnished and was very clean and comfortable with a separate living room and satellite tv. We made use of the well equipped kitchen and barbecue. The master bedroom was large with a separate sofa and plenty of wardrobe space to store all of our personal belongings and clothes. The children were also comfortable in the second bedroom although not as large. Bathroom was very big with separate bath and shower.

The pool was a joy, very relaxing and well mantained with far reaching views across the local farmland! Under the umbrella with my book and the occasional dip and I was in my element!

La Fon Rouge is close enough to drive to many beautiful French towns and we often went out for dinner to a different one each evening. Our favorites were Monflaquin, Monpazier, Eymet and Villeneuve Sur Lot. All very beautiful and in August they often have evening markets and festivals going on so we always found something to enjoy. The food in this part of France is lovely and the wine of course is excellent.

La Fon Rouge is a little further south, closer to the river Lot than the Dordogne so unfortunately we didn’t make it canoeing this year which was a bit of a shame, but we didn’t really feel that we missed out. It was nice having other guests staying in the other properties so you didn’t feel too isolated from other people.

All in all we had a lovely time in this delightful property and would definitely consider returning again. Thank you.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review, glad you had a great time with us. There is canoeing more local to the house. You can go to Castelmoron-sur-Lot (around 30kms and 35 mins away) where there is a small swimming beach and you can hire little canoes and coracle-like motor boats, or, you can go to Limeuil (about 55kms or an hour away) which has a canoe hire company that takes you up river to do different duration trips on the river. Let me know next time and we'll get it sorted for you!

Idyllic location and fantastic farmhouse with views to die for!

Three generations of our family had a wonderful holiday here. The location was perfect, we spent most days in the pool enjoying the breathtaking views to monflanquin. Cancon was a fifteen min bike ride away and we enjoyed collecting the bread and croissants in the morning after cycling through the beautiful countryside. The house itself was very large, just what we needed for children to run around in and the British tv channels were perfect for enjoying the olympics in the evening! We enjoyed two delicious meals out locally and think we only scratched the surface of the local eateries. We only managed to visit monflanquin once and it was lovely. We will definitely be returning here as we just had the best time and there is still so much to see!

Fantastic accommodation in the idyllic Dordogne

La Fon Rouge is a really well appointed farmhouse property in the stunning countryside of the Dordogne. The hosts were wonderful, helpful and friendly and keep the property in great condition, making guests feel welcome at all times. The pool is maintained really well and the grounds offer up an abundance of fresh fruit and breathtaking scenery. Nearby medieval villages, beautiful rivers and other attractions complete the perfect picture. We hope to come back again!

The lot valley, south of the Dordogne is a beautiful, unspoiled, temperate and largely undiscovered area of self West France nestling between the Lot and the Garonne rivers.

The open countryside of gentle hills and valleys provides a sense of freedom far away from the hustle and bustle of normal life, and all within driving distance of the popular Dordogne region. With forests, vineyards, and famland set amongst the many charming hill top bastide towns such as Monflanquin, Villereal, Monpazier. The area is steeped with history, being part of the battlefield for the 100 years war. Only 3km from Cancon and 8km from Monflanquin both with shops, banks and restaurants.
