Flathead Lake is the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, where you can enjoy fabulous water activities and scenery. The house is less than 1 hour from Glacier National Park and 30 minutes from Glacier International Airport. Nearby are numerous golf courses, antique shops, and summer playhouses. Enjoy spectacular views of the lake, Mission Mountains, and Wild Horse Island, where during a simple hike, you can see bighorn sheep, deer, bald eagles, osprey, and, of course, wild horses!
This 2500 square feet house sits on 100 feet of prime Flathead Lake frontage on a one-acre property. It comfortably sleeps eight in three bedrooms and a loft, has 2 bathrooms and a complete kitchen, and provides you with beautiful mountain and lake views, new dock, new deck, and a lawn down to the lake. Fifteen fruit trees adorn the front yard.
Here you have your own private beach and yard and dock! Plenty of room for volleyball and badminton, horseshoes and croquet. The views from this lovely home are exceptional with the lake and mountains literally right out your back door. Walk right out on to the lawn and take a dip in the water. The beach stone firepit is great for nighttime s’mores-making.
Bring your water toys, golf clubs, enjoy the fresh air and bird watching, or visit the many Flathead area attractions. Between Polson and Bigfork and Kalispell, you'll find the convenience of shops, restaurants, arts, and entertainment. You can rent boats and Sea-Doos in Lakeside, 10 to 15 minutes away.
During the winter, Blacktail Mountain Ski area is close by and is a great for families. There are cross-country trails up there as well. Whitefish Mountain Resort is less than an hour away!
This was a very nice home. There is a wall of windows facing the lake. All the kids loved the loft and it has a private balcony. It was stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, everything we needed except food:) We cooked almost every meal there (thank you Costco) and found everything we needed. On the deck, there is a covered area that worked great for shade and one evening when it was raining. The deck is big and has two jet ski lifts and a boat lift and even has lights if you need them in the evening. The wood was replenished while we were there by the house manager. He had actually built the house and several of the docks around us including ours. He visited with us about the area and houses he had built around us, super nice guy. The neighbors on both sides were friendly and we enjoyed visiting with them. The yard was big and green and well maintained. The orchard had apples and cherries and was a great spot for taking pictures. The washer and dryer was new and I think a bigger size, super handy. The house was located in a beautiful, scenic area. While we were there, we went to a brewery in Lakeside that had great food and as an added bonus kids were free that day (Monday). We also rented a pontoon and drove it around Wild Horse Island, we saw a lot of wildlife but no horses:( It would be a great place to hike but with the little ones we couldn't.
My family and friends all gathered at this private quiet little oasis on the west shore of Flathead to celebrate the 4th. The house is positioned so that it is very private with great views of Wild Horse Island. The front yard is lush and green that provided a great place to lay out to enjoy some sun. The beach area has a fire pit and a nice dock for your toys. We would definitely stay here again in the future.
Perfect location for serenity! We had a great time fishing, rented paddle boards in Lakeside and saw a lot of wildlife! The views of the lake from inside and outside of the house are breathtaking. Great restaurants and shops nearby. We made a ton of memories...perfect size for 2 families with teenagers and young children. Ellen was a gem to work with!
We stayed at this home on Flat Head lake for a week in June 2015. The location is great. You walk out the back door, and there's the lake. The sun rises majestically over it, it sets very late, and is a great setting. If you want to be away from it all, this is the place for you. We viewed wildlife from the house including rabbits, deer, and one bear that scared the you-know-what out of me.
A couple of things that were not so great: two of the 4 windows in the living room do not open at all, so in the afternoon when it's warm, it gets pretty toasty. The decor of the home is...well, it's old. This was probably the coolest place in 1988, but it could use an update. (If you see the sofa, you'll know what I'm talking about) The TV/DVD/Cable situation isn't the best either, with pretty constant dropping of the satellite image, so if you think you're going to settle in and catch up on a tv show, you're mistaken. There was a LOT of poop on the back lawn when we arrived, and I'm not sure if it was from a previous guest's dog or the bats that fly over in the weekend.
I would stay here again for vacation, but I would probably have my expectations lowered a bit.
We had a wonderful time at this lake house. As soon as you walk in the house you have a breathtaking view of the lake that makes you feel like you are on a dream vacation like those you see in magazines. The setting is hard to beat and the kids just loved playing in the water and on the beach. The beach area was such a relaxing and fun place to be day and night. The fire pit was great. It was our best family vacation yet:) We
may have to make this a yearly tradition.
This was a fantastic vacation home right on Flathead Lake. The views alone are spectacular, but the boat dock, grass backyard, and fire pit made it even better. Two nights went by way too fast! The owner was extremely accommodating and very quick to answer questions. The house has plenty of room for a big family or multiple families, and the kids in particular loved climbing up the ladder to sleep in the loft. An excellent experience!
