About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Welcome to our beautiful executive home on the sunny Kona Coast! The views are spectacular from any of the 5 lanais! This home was the personal residence of the architect who designed and built it. The house is spacious with over 2000SF laid out with large comfortable open rooms. There are too many features to cover them all, but you will love every minute of your stay here. The setting is quiet, private, and peaceful - perfect for your romantic stay in Paradise.

The house sits on a 1/2 acre that is a tropical garden of flowering trees and shrubs. Fruit trees include papaya, grapefruit, orange, avocado, mango, and lots of macadamia nut trees. There are skylights throughout the home that, along with the vaulted ceilings, make this house sunny and open. Enjoy your morning Kona coffee out on the dining room lanai next to our beautiful rock waterfall and koi pond. The unobstructed ocean and coastline views from the covered living room and master bedroom lanais are spectacular!

The master bedroom wing is a sanctuary. Windows all around make the space light and airy. It has its own lanai facing the ocean and is perfect for reading, listening to music, or taking a nap. You won't believe the bathroom suite. It has a large tiled walk in shower stall with glass walls and door, plus a separate jetted soaking tub, and vanity. There are 2 private toilet rooms - one with its own vanity, and the other has a skylight and laundry chute. There is also a roomy walk-in closet.

Downstairs is the second bedroom with its own sunny lanai. There is a spacious full bathroom, and a large laundry room. The family sitting room has a sleeper sofa and a love seat to visit, nap, or watch TV. Sliding glass doors open to a lanai and out to the large tropical yard.

We don't want you to miss out on any of the many great restaurants in Kona, but dining at the house will be a treat. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for making a snack or feeding a family gathering. There is a radiant cooktop, convection microwave and wallovens, side-by-side refrigerator, dishwasher, and all of the countertop appliances. Dine at the beautiful teak dining room table or out on any of the lanais.

Compare the cost and qualify of a stay in even the nicest hotel rooms to the beauty, space, and tranquility of your private vacation home.

About The Owner

We are long time Alaskans looking forward to retiring and an end to the long cold winters. We have traveled extensively throughout the world and believe there is no better place than the Big Island of Hawaii.

The Owner purchased this house in 2010

Why The Owner chose Kona Palisades

We have been visiting the islands for well over 40 years, often for many months at a time. Of them all, the Big Island offers the most space and diversity. The Kona Coast is the best place with perfect weather year round and lots to do. We look forward to our future retirement when we can be in Kona all of the time.

What makes this house unique

There is nothing better than walking out of the house in the morning and picking a ripe papaya or grapefruit for breakfast. Then sitting out on the lanai next to the bubbling waterfall drinking my Kona coffee while watching the fish in the pond is true bliss.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What an absolutely gorgeous house! Congratulations on your purchase of such a beautiful place. We truly enjoyed our stay over the holidays. We had invited our family from the area for Christmas day, and everyone oohed and ahhed over the home. The view is unbelievable without a house, power line, or telephone pole to take away from it. It was so peaceful and quiet all of the time. My favorite was to sit out on the lanai next to the dining room in the morning, drink my coffee, and listen to the waterfall. My husband loved sitting out on the master bedroom lanai reading a book and watching the airplanes down at the airport. Thank you for having everything we needed in the house, even stuff for going to the beach. We can't wait to come back again and are already telling all of our friends about your vacation rental.

peaceful setting, convenient location, lovely view

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our week in this house the last week of Feb 2018. The convenient location is in a suburban-style neighborhood, halfway between the two highways you take to go everywhere. The house itself is right on the western edge of the neighborhood, so there's an open view from the back of the house out to the sea, perfect for sunset viewing from the lanai. The gas grill and well equipped kitchen allowed us to cook breakfast and dinner most days, which really makes it feel like home away from home. My partner, who doesn't sleep well, really appreciated the white noise of the fountain in the goldfish pond and how quiet the neighborhood is overall. All we heard all week was bird song from the lovely garden surrounding the house. Susie keeps the place neat as a pin, with plenty of clean sheets and towels, and even left us a delicious lilikoi pie to enjoy during our stay. The place would easily sleep three couples, so we hope to return with friends next time.

Owner's Response: Aloha, and Mahalo for your thoughtful review. As I regularly state, our goal is for every guest to have a wonderful stay at our home, and want to return. The bulk of our bookings nowadays are from returning guests. That is the best compliment we could ask for. Thank you also for noticing the terrific work our caretakers, Susie and Kai, do in keeping the house to our high standard for our guests. We look forward to seeing you on your return to the Big Island!

Beautiful place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

Very lovely property inside and out. Clean, comfortable, quiet, spacious, beautiful view. All the extra amenities were available to us to use at the beach. Wonderful property manager nearby to help with any needs or questions we had. When we return to the Big Island in the future, this property will be first on our list to rent again.

A little chunk of paradise

  • 5 of 5

We have rented houses and condos all over, and this was likely the best. The house was far better than even the photos show. It is really bright inside and totally relaxing. Communication with the owner was top rate, and Kai and Susie as caretakers next door are absolutely terrific. They are helpful and very friendly but understand to give you some "space". We hope the owner appreciates what a great job they do.

The home is in good condition and very well equipped (kitchen, laundry, bathrooms). The location just north of Kona is not a problem but I'd say a car was a requirement. The trip to Kona (two routes available) is short and the access to other parts of the island is excellent. The house would easily accommodate two or three couples or a family. Good views and several outside lanais/seating areas that allow you to chase sun or shade all day long. It's a very peaceful place, cool and quiet at night so you get a great sleep. It is also very private. In the lower level closet there is all the beach gear you likely will need. We had no ant or other bug issues but we were careful and kept the place clean.

We will likely rent this property again and have already highly recommended it to friends.

Owner's Response: Mahalo for your kind words, especially for our caretakers who work so hard to keep our house at the high standards we require for our guests. Our primary goal is for our guests to have a wonderful vacation, and to be as comfortable in our home as they are in their own. We look forward to your return and to join our family of guests who stay with us regularly.

Secluded and wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Quiet, private, welcoming, COMFORTABLE, with a wonderful view, the house felt like home the minute we walked through the door. The house is located in a relatively dense residential neighborhood, but is so cleverly sited and landscaped that no other home is visible (or audible) from inside the house or from the many fabulous outside spaces. The owner is extremely responsive and thoughtful. I can't say enough good things. Our visit to the Big Island was twice as delightful because we stayed in Cole's lovely home.

And what a house it is

  • 5 of 5

This house is located in the hills above Kailua-Kona. It's five minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from Kailua, a great tourist town with live music and trinket shopping on every corner, 15 minutes from some of the most beautiful and fun beaches I've ever been to and a head start to Hilo, where you will find the volcanoes and beautiful waterfalls. When entering the house, it's a fun maze of living space with five lanai's, laundry room, family room, a well stocked kitchen of cooking utensils, two bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms,, dining room and a living room that you won't want to leave. The view from this room is breathtaking and as you walk out onto the lanai to get an even better view of the horizon, you become mesmerized with the Island's beauty, the view of the ocean and the sunsets and sunrises.......priceless. They have on-hand caretakers if you need assistance or directions. The house is stocked with all the beach gear you could even think of or need. The only thing missing is you.......

The Big Island has so much to offer. From the observatory atop Mauna Loa to the Black Sand Beach at the City of Refuge, there are so many sights to see and activities to do. The snorkeling and diving are phenomenal. Catch a record Marlin or take home some Mahi Mahi for dinner. Zip line over a tropical forest, or hike into see one of the many beautiful waterfalls on the island. You have to visit the Volcano National Park and maybe take a helicopter ride to watch the lava flow into the ocean.
