La Maison Blanche is situated in the beautiful region of the Perigord Noir in the Dordogne valley, close to the medieval towns of Souillac, Sarlat and Rocamadour. The detached villa provides very comfortable accommodation for up to 8 people. The 4 double bedrooms, all have ensuite facilities with either bath or “wet-room” showers. Two of the bedrooms open onto a balcony with wonderful views of the valley of the Dordogne. The third bedroom also overlooks the valley while bedroom number 4 has direct access to the garden and pool. The propert features an 8 x 4 metre salt water heated swimming pool (no chemicals and sore eyes) and the large terrace around the pool provides lots of space for sunbathing. The living area features a woodburning fireplace, comfortable seating, free wifi and satellite TV. The spacious dining area and well equipped kitchen lead onto the front terrace, BBQ area and shady pergola with spectalular views over the valley.
Wow, what a wonderful place. Weather, friendship and fun. We have had a wonderful week.
This is our second visit to Maison Blanche as we enjoyed our stay last year and had run out of time as there is lots to see and do in the surrounding area.
The accommodation and facilities are well maintained and the property spotless. We had lazy days by the pool (plenty of bed chairs and terrace space) with bbq and alfresco dining in the evening, combined with days exploring the local area and dining out at local restaurants.
The owners went out of their way to make us welcome and are very knowledgeable of the surrounding area and helpful with suggestions and directions of places to visit.
We would recommend the property to anyone wanting a self catering holiday in the Dordogne. The local supermarkets are well stocked with fresh produce at reasonable prices.
We visited many of the beautiful villages and medieval towns in the local area, taking breakfast on fresh waffles and crepes in one of the local markets. The preservation train line and traditional walnut oil press are well worth a visit.
Hopefully we shall return next year as we still have places to see and activities we want to try.
The house is blessed with stunning views from both the front of the property and the pool, the vista from the balcony in the early morning is magical as there is usually a mist hovering in the valley below heralding the start of a beautiful day.
Looking forward to returning next year.
This was our second time visiting the Dordogne region and after a drive from Paris, it was a joy to arrive at a well-appointed, clean, spacious home. The house is very private and situated over-looking the Dordogne valley offering incredible vistas that change throughout the day. The evening cool breeze waffting through the bedrooms, two of which have balconies, ( morning coffee anyone?) offered ideal sleeping conditions.
The house is well eqipped, comfortable, modern, exceptionally clean, with new ensuites from each bedroom. The owners, Tony and Pam, were gracious and amiable hosts and provided us with a wealth of information about the area - especially restaurants. The property is conveniently located and close to many of the world famous attractions. And it's only a short walk down the hill to a fantastic pastisserie! Overall, a week was not enough, and we plan to visit again soon. Our recommendation is that everyone should visit this beautiful part of France, especially La Maison Blanche at the top of the hill!
Exactly as advertised! Clean & well-maintained - actually it was probably the cleanest holiday home we've ever stayed in! We were four adults and two children and had more space than we needed. Pool area was wonderful for relaxing afternoons after busy mornings out. A car is essential for this area. We loved the villages and towns. Tony was more than helpful throughout the booking process. Both Tony & Pam met us on arrival and Tony came to see us off. A ridiculously relaxing holiday! Thanks so much to Tony & Pam for sharing this little slice of paradise!
We decided to holiday in rural France, a change from our usual Spain. We chose La Maison Blanche in Cazoules on recommendation and are so pleased we did. On arriving Tony the owner met us and told us that he and Pam lived minutes away so if there were any problems not to hesitate to ring them. The villa is set in the hills above the beautiful Dordogne river and the views have to be seen to be believed, they certainly take you breath away. From our bedroom window we could see for miles and I will never forget having our first breakfast of fresh croissants from the local bakery sitting on the bedroom balcony just looking at the view, a perfect start to what promised to be a wonderful holiday. The house is well furnished to a high standard and very clean. Pam has certainly put a lot of thought into making the villa comfortable and home from home. There is every utensil and appliance you could possibly want and the cleanliness is exceptional. With its large and well looked after pool and dinning/barbecue area you have everything you need for a carefree holiday.
Tony's knowledge of the local area and restaurants is excellent. We were told to visit the chateaux of Josephine Baker (1940's singer) , Pam lent us the DVD of Josephine's life, which made the visit well worth a visit. Also not far is a local private zoo, which Tony has just discovered. The zoo is for small endangered animals. If you are an animal lover this is not to be missed, you need to be quite fit as the zoo is in natural surroundings with a small climb. The local markets at Sarlat and Souliliac are not to be missed as they are a great insight into local life. The local supermarket is five minutes in the car. As I am coeliac and need gluten free food I was delighted with the excellent choice.
Tony speaks fluent French which was very helpful I needed to go to hospital. Tony not only took us but also got us through the French hospital system very quickly. Nothing was too much trouble and it is obvious they take a lot of care and trouble to make sure your stay is perfect.
There is only one problem which I am sure we will rectify by returning next year. A WEEK IS NOT ENOUGH.
We stayed here in early September, out first visit to the beautiful Dordogne region and the amazing Maison Blanche. WOW! Wonderful location with amazing views- and so peaceful and quiet. Villa was very well equipped ,spacious and welcoming. Private swimming pool, large BBQ with lovely out-side dining terrace and table for candlelit fun packed and magical evenings.Owners Tony and Pam so very welcoming and helpful- more than happy to deal with any concerns, queries and to offer suggestions on where to visit to make the most of your unforgettable stay.We will be back.
We arrived to find a beautifully furnished villa with very homely looking accommodation. The spectacular view overlooking the Dordogne Valley made every morning different as we watched the early morning mist clear from the valley floor while the Sun rose each day. All the villa's facilities, including the lovely outdoor swimming pool, contributed towards a very comfortable week's holiday. We enjoyed canoeing on the river, riding on the tourist train from Martel and some of the many medieval villages and towns nearby. The area around Cazoules was good to explore and, with the assistance of the villa's owners, we discovered a good number of eating places which provided good food at a very reasonable cost. All in all a memorable holiday which my wife and I hope to repeat next year.
Cazoules is a small village along the valley of the Dordogne between Souillac and Sarlat. In the village you will find a very good boulangerie, 2 bar / restaurants and a post office. The Dordogne River with its beach is about 1 km from the villa.
La Maison Blanche is situated on a hillside overlooking the village with uninterrupted views over the Dordogne Valley.
The medieval town of Sarlat is about 20 kms to the west and the market town of Souillac is 5 kms to the east.
There are numerous small beaches where you can hire a kayak (don’t forget to take a picnic) to explore the Dordogne.
Cazoules is ideally placed as a base to tour the picturesque and stunning valleys of the rivers Dordogne, Lot and Vezere and some of the most spectacular sites in France, including Rocamadour, Les Eyzies and the caves of Lascaux are not far away.
Take the road north towards Brive in the Correze and discover the beautiful lake, Le Lac du Causse at Chasteaux with its beaches and water sports.
Golf: Exploring the Valley of the Dordogne combined with a few days of golf can be the ideal way to spend your holiday especially out of the peak holiday season. Within 15 minutes drive of Cazoules, Souillac Golf Club provides you with a very challenging 18 hole golf course.
Travelling a little further on from Brive, along the road towards Tulle, you will come across the lovely little monastery village of Aubazine with its quaint village square and breathtaking scenery. Nearby is the Golf Club de Coiroux with its beautiful 27 hole golf course, 25 hectare lake and beach, horse riding and restaurant. About 1 hour’s drive from Cazoules.
For the really keen golfers, get up early and set of for Limoges (just over 1 hour’s drive north along the A20 motorway. Just outside the town is one of my favourite golf courses, Golf de la Porcelaine on the slopes of the Vienne Valley. You won’t be disappointed.
