Tollcross Apartment Rental Photos and Description

City center location - walk to all attractions but stay in a local area

Our modern 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment is furnished and decorated to a high standard and will make a very comfortable base for your visit. Located in Tollcross, just on the edge of the Old Town and easy walking distance of the centre, this is an ideal place to stay when visiting Edinburgh.

The apartment is just off Lothian Road where you will find a wide selection of cafes, bars, restaurants, pubs and bistros – something for everyone. A choice of grocery stores, local shops (including a traditional butchers), wine store and French Delicatessen are just around the corner. This is also an ideal location for anyone with business in the city’s financial district, visiting the Edinburgh International Conference Centre or visiting Edinburgh University.

The lounge/dining room/kitchen area is bright and with wood floors. Their is comfortable sofa seating for 4. The dining area has a table and chairs for 4 and is adjacent to the fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen has a gas range, oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washer - all that you will need to make life easy while on vacation.

Bedroom 1 has an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath tub. The bathroom is fully tiled and has a heated towel rail and shaver point and comes with luxury towels. The bed is a double size with luxury linens. Built in closets provide ample storage for all your belongings. This room overlooks the garden courtyard behind the property and has a small balcony.

Bedroom 2 has a King bed (US Queen) with luxury linens and also overlooks the garden courtyard. A fully tiled Shower Room is accessed off the hallway. Again with a heated towel rail, shaver point and comes with luxury towels.

There is an allocated underground parking space, which in Edinburgh is a huge bonus. Access to the Western Approach Road for an easy way in/out of Edinburgh is just off Lothian Road and allows you to be at the airport in less than ½ hour.

Access to the local bus system is just round the corner from the apartment. This is a wonderful way of getting around Edinburgh - you would expect a bus to Princes Street within 5 minutes (there is even an iPhone App to give the real time position of the buses!). Haymarket train station is a 15 minute walk or a very short 5 minute taxi ride away. Waverley Station is a 25 minute walk or 8 minutes by taxi. Edinburgh airport is less than 7 miles from the apartment.

Margaret & I met while students in Edinburgh over 30 years ago. We have always said we will return here one day after living and working in the South of England, Belgium and most recently in Virginia, USA. We bought this our first flat in 2010 as the first step in realizing our dream. We want others share to our place and fall in love with Scotland and Edinburgh.

We bought this apartment after months of watching the Edinburgh market. We loved the proximity to the city and the fact that it is modern so everything works and is efficient. Having an allocated parking space and elevator is a real bonus.

What makes this apartment unique

We aim to provide the best Scottish Hospitality Edinburgh can offer and want it to be a home from home (although we know it is much smaller than American standards). It will have everything you need to make your stay very comfortable.

We were met by the manager of the property who was very friendly and welcoming. The property is very clean, well presented and a true reflection of the photos. It is also very well located within the city making it easy to walk anywhere. We really enjoyed our stay.

Great location and great amenities.

My husband and I stayed with my parents in this apartment for 4 days. It was a very convenient location for walking to all the major tourist stops. Karen greeted us when we arrived and gave excellent recommendations for restaurants in the area. Being pescetarians, we were warned before visiting Edinburgh that it would be hard to find food options. We found this to be completely incorrect. While many of the restaurants along the Royal Mile were somewhat limiting, restaurants elsewhere were great. Karen recommended Blackbird and Rigatoni's, both of which were right around the corner and both had excellent menu choices. Grocery stores were convenient for bottles of wine and snacks and the apartment had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay.

Great location - clean and inviting

A great apartment a short walk from the city center to see all the famous sights. All was neat and clean as advertised. Apartment is a great size and beds are comfortable. Quiet with some good restaurants around. Supermarket right around the corner. Karen, who met us, was so nice and showed us all around the apartment and then how to get around. Overall great experience. I would highly recommend this property to family and friends.

Well equipped and close to everything

Our family of 4 (parents and 2 adult children) spent 4 nights at Tollcross during Festival. The welcome from Karen, the "friendly local", was very helpful, and the apartment is well laid out. It is within walking distance to Old Town, near many excellent restaurants favored by locals (try Tuk Tuk and 3 Birds!), and close to grocery stores, a fabulous butcher shop (Saunderson) and wine shop (Drinkmonger). The kitchen works well for in home meals. And free long distance home! Considering the price of hotels in the area, this unit was also an excellent value. We would absolutely stay here again if we returned to Edinburgh- considering that one of our daughters wants to move there, perhaps sooner than later...

Great apartment, great location

We very comfortably stayed in this apartment in August, 2016. It was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. We were a family of 4 (2 adults and children age 10 and 12). The property manager (Karen) met us exactly as planned. She had the kitchen ready with a few basics for our arrival which was very thoughtful and appreciated. We easily walked to all main attractions - really an excellent location. Despite being very central it was on a quiet street. Plenty of supermarkets nearby for getting some groceries. We have stayed at many VRBO locations over the years - and this is one of our favourites for sure.

Our apartment is within easy walking distance of Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street and the Royal Mile where you will find most of the major attractions. It provides a quiet place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. The location is a good base for day trips to Glasgow, St Andrews, Stirling and the Borders. Visit one of 12 Edinburgh Festivals - Fringe, International, Books, Film, Art, Jazz and Blues to name just a few. Easy access to the local bus system and taxis if you don't want to walk. Just 25 minutes from the airport by car or taxi.
