Restaurants/Coffee Houses: Restaurants are numerous and reasonable around the neighborhood. Also numerous coffee shops with WiFi to enjoy a relaxing coffee while you stay in touch with family and friends back home.
Neighborhood: There is a large park for fresh air and relaxation just few meter away. At the perimeter of the park are the restaurants and coffee houses where you can sit and relax, (5 restaurants, 10 coffee houses). The neighborhood is safe and very traditional to the Greek local life. More restaurants can be found around the Metro stop also.
You can also find many grocery stores, banks, pharmacies, the weekly farmer's market, shops, and many neighborhood stores that makes this area so unique.
Just 5 to 7 minutes by Metro you are at all Antiquities and the center of Athens.
Maria is a retired educator, Tony is a semi-retired attorney who is still busy with some cases.
We purchased this property for its location to the center of Athens, and easy access to the beaches. The Metro is 5 fast stops to Syndagma - center of the city - we also liked to be near the antiquities so when our family and friends visit they can easily visit them. The tram is near Syndagma where it can take you to the numerous city beaches in the summer.
I also was a part time travel agent and can help travellers with their holiday plans to islands and greek villages.
We love travelling but understand comfort.
We live in Michigan 7 months out of the year and reside in South Africa, and Greece the rest of the time. We also have a 2nd home 2 hours away in a village high on a mountain where it is breezy and you can breath fresh mountain cool air. We go there often and also rent it out.
Maria or Anthony Lamberis purchased this apartment in 2001
Our property has an open living space between Large entrance, living room and dining room. It is a wide space to feel comfortable. It is extremely spacious - 1300 sq. ft. Read some of our reviews to get a better idea as to why this property over others. Have a look at the youtube link as well.
the location is great, near the center of Athens (Syndagma), 7 minutes away on Metro Rail from the apartment. The local tram, a 5 to 7 minute walk away, takes you to the numerous beaches of Athens. The neighborhood is safe, quiet, and has some of the best restaurants in the city. They are very reasonable, and authentic Greek cuisine. That was one of the reasons why we love it here. Live like a local. Buy fresh produce from the farmer's market down the road.
Some of our guests have stayed at our village Stone house, located 3,000 feet up on a Greek mountain side with forests behind the house. Fresh air, and cooler temperatures - go to 3777846 same site. For either site, you can contact us direct - first anitial - last name - gmail
Just a quick note to let you know what a great time Rebecca and I had in Greece. Your property is truly wonderful. Very close to the metro - which we used frequently and so many great cafes - we took advantage of it all. Eleni is a truly wonderful ambassador for your place. Eleni was beyond helpful and we felt perfectly “looked after”. Not too much and not too little….she is a delight!
We ventured out to Santorini and had a remarkable couple of days out there. Everything was superb. It was a remarkable experience for me - one whom has been to Europe several times - to see it through the eyes of an 18 year old who is on her first European adventure.
Thank you for being a part of this trip - all the info and the suggestions.
Greece will be in our travel plans in the years ahead.
Spacious apartment in a great location. You get a real Greek hospitality and experience. Near a large park to sit and watch the local life while you enjoy a great meal or just a coffee.
We spent 6 nights at the apartment, and enjoyed ourselves immensely here. I wish we had been able to stay longer, as we loved this apartment. The owner, Maria, is a terrific Lady, who gave us over the top information. She sent us maps and instructions in advance, so it was easy to find the apartment, she also gave us great tips about the neighborhood and Athens in general. Her agent lives below the apartment (separate entrance), who was available at all times. Walked us around the neighborhood on our first day.
We loved the neighborhood; a short walk to the metro station, and close to all the major bus lines. Lots of grocery stores, bakeries and cafes nearby, even a child's playground. It was nice not to be in the heart of “tourist” Athens, yet close enough to all the attractions.
The apartment is lovely! Very spacious, well furnished, exactly as described. The air conditioners worked extremely well, so if you are here during the hot summer months, you’ll be assured of a cool oasis in the city. Complimentary wi-fi access and even free cell phone to make local calls, or call a taxi.
I highly recommend this apartment, and I will stay here again on my next visit to Athens. Thanks again for a wonderful experience.
After a wonderful week in Athens followed by a few days on Santorini, we arrived home.
We wanted to thank you for the use of your apartment. It was ideal in so many ways: close to the Metro (which we used daily), close to many great restaurants and a grocery and the post office, in a quiet neighborhood so we could get a taste of Greek life. Elena was great in so many ways as well: meeting us on arrival, showing us around the apartment, giving us a tour of the neighborhood, and even arranging for our nephew to cook with her mother one morning! It was a highlight for him!
We took many of your travel suggestions, including a trip to the donut shop (KRINOS) delicious! Also, you are right: the Greek salads that Americans make do not compare to the freshness of salads in Greece. In addition to visiting the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, the Agora, and shopping around Monistriaki, we saw the changing of the guard, a dance performance at the Dora Stratou Theater, spent a day at Delphi, visited Mycenae and Napflio, and spent a night on Hydra, including a visit to the beach. Our favorite local restaurant was the gyro place around the corner from Captain’s (which we also tried). We loved the simple food as well as the young waitress who was very patient in explaining each dish in English both times we ate there.
We felt very well prepared with all of your travel advice and enjoyed every part of our week in Athens. You live in a vibrant city filled with so much history and culture! At the end of every day, we enjoyed coming “home” to your apartment to relax.
Thanks again for everything!
My family of four adults + one 11 year old spent a wonderful 7 nights in this apartment, which fit the description well, including plenty of space for all. We especially appreciated the air conditioning (necessary in late June), laundry, and kitchen. The neighborhood is quiet and an easy walk to the post office, ATM, grocery store, Metro, and many wonderful restaurants. Being away from most tourist areas (yet close enough via Metro), we felt we got a feel for local Athens. The best part of this apartment, though, is the owner's thoughtfulness in sending lots of travel suggestions and advice ahead of time and responding quickly to questions of all sorts. In addition, her manager (who lives downstairs) was very friendly and helpful, even arranged for our nephew to cook Greek food one day! We would absolutely recommend this apartment to others.
My teenage son and I stayed at this apartment in Dafni for 14 days and loved the accommodations and location! You're really able to live like locals and there are grocery stores, markets, ATM's, a variety of restaurants, coffee shops & bars, and specialty stores nearby. The Metro is within walking distance too so you can be away from the main tourist areas but still able to get to the the beach or city center really easy. The apartment has everything you need if you want to save money and cook a few meals there and the washer was really nice to have. The beds were very comfortable, the air conditioning worked great, and I loved the sunny kitchen & living room:). Maria is an exceptional owner and sent me numerous emails before our trip, providing me with a wealth of information about the food, language, and places to visit. Elena was very helpful too and she walked us around the neighborhood, showing us everything we might need. Manolis, the taxi driver Maria recommends was also incredibly helpful and was always on time and waiting for us if we were returning from a day cruise, overnight visit to an island, or trip to Meteora. Maria, Elena, and Manolis are three of the most friendly and helpful people I have ever met and I highly recommend this apartment for your visit to Athens.
We stayed at this establishment for 8 days and had a wonderful time. The apartment was very specious for our family. Very clean, comfortable, and linen for all of us. Some necessary bathroom needs were there ( toilet paper, hand soap and shampoos). The neighborhood was lovely, safe and housed numerous coffee houses and restaurants. We ate at a restaurant that the owner recommended near the house that had the best lamb and veal chops we had ever tasted couple of nights. Another regular restaurant that we visited for lunch was "Captains". Very authentic food and friendly place.
Our agent was helpful at all times and willing to even walk us around the neighborhood to show us all that the lovely area had.
We also enjoyed the Farmer's market with their fresh produce and fish. The kitchen was well equipped for some of our meals at home. We had a wonderful time and will come back next year.
As we entered Athens airport, our private taxi provided by Maria, was there to pick us up and transfer us to the apartment. The house was large, clean and very inviting. The area was very inviting with shops, coffee shops, and restaurants. A true Greek neighborhood. Maria's taxi service made our excursions very easy and care free for our family. This place was a great find. With Maria's help along with Elena's expert advice to visit places in the city, we were able to visit places that only locals visit.
This trip was a full Greek experience. Thank you for your help and hospitality.
The apartment is 200 meters from Dafni Metro rail. In 4 minutes you are at the Acropolis Museum and the entrance to the hill that will take you to the Parthenon.
Another few minutes of Metro transportation you are at the center of town, where the Parliament is with the changing of the guards. Plaka, Monastiraki, Bonaki museum and other tourists attractions.
You can take a short taxi ride and go the Archeological Museum that is only 5 minutes by taxi ride or 10 by bus.
The Dafni neighborhood has numerous restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, banks, pharmacies, schools, police station, and parks, with a kiddie part right around the corner of the apartment.
