Overview

Southwestern Colorado Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Are you a couple looking for the perfect Crested Butte getaway? Sopris Cabin has everything you will want in a Crested Butte vacation home--the perfect location plus unique character and charm. The location on Sopris Avenue is ideal--just one block to the town shuttle that takes you to the ski area, and one block off the core restaurant district of Elk Avenue, the main street in Crested Butte where you will find popular shops and restaurants. (Our location is ideally located in the core of the historic district, not on the east side of town--you simply cannot find a better location!)

Sopris Cabin is part of Crested Butte's history--the front rooms were an original mining cabin dating from the 1880's. It has undergone two renovations, the most recent of which added a sunroom, Colorado sandstone floors in the main living areas and, best of all, in-floor radiant heat.

BEDROOM: The bedroom on the main level has a comfortable, king-size, bed with a pillow-top mattress. The bed also has cotton linens, down pillows and a down comforter.

KITCHEN: The large, bright and sunny, centrally located, kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, Jenn-Air gas range, dishwasher, microwave and garbage disposal. We have added a coffee maker, coffee grinder, microwave oven, toaster and crock pot. The kitchen is fully equipped with utensils and cookware--everything you'll need for preparing meals. Your mealtimes become more festive when served on our colorful Fiestaware dishes.

LIVING AREA: The open floor plan includes a living area that is open to the dining room and kitchen. It is tastefully decorated with comfortable furniture and includes a wood-burning stove and TV.

SUNROOM/Rear Entry: The most recent expansion of the home included the addition of a rear sunroom with bright windows and French doors that exit onto the backyard deck. A loveseat in this room opens up to a twin-bed to provide an additional sleeping area.

BATHROOMS: The cabin has a fully tiled bathroom with walk-in shower.

BACKYARD: The fenced back-yard is nicely landscaped and has mature cottonwood and aspen trees. Enjoy summer evenings on the deck that includes patio dining furniture and a gas grill. The fenced yard is ideal for pets. The rear of the property has two off-street parking spots that are accessed via an alley.

NOTE: Our cabin also has two upstairs bedrooms, but we offer special rates (listed below) to parties of 2-3 who agree to use only the main floor. (We have a separate VRBO listing offering it as a 3-bedroom--see vrbo 288820.) Note that when you rent the downstairs only, there will be no one staying upstairs! We sometimes escape to Crested Butte without our three children and believe our 'downstairs only' option makes the perfect getaway for couples!

About Leslie

We are a family of five living in Boulder, Colorado. We love to vacation in Crested Butte! In Winter, we downhill ski, Nordic ski and backcountry ski. In summer, we hike and mountain bike. Our favorite Crested Butte events are the July 4th parade and the Alley Loop Nordic Ski in February. We would be happy to answer any of your questions about activities in Crested Butte. -Mark and Leslie

Why Leslie chose Southwestern Colorado

We have visited Crested Butte many times over the past 20 years and just purchased Sopris Cabin in March 2010. We like being in-town for the proximity to restaurants, shops and Nordic trails. But we also downhill ski, so being close to a ski shuttle stop was important.

What makes this cabin unique

Our prime location in-town makes us unique! We are just half block from the main ski shuttle stop at 2nd and Elk. (There are only five shuttle stops in town, so many properties do not have this important benefit.) Another feature that we and our tenants appreciate is the king-size bed in the main-level bedroom!

Great location, historic property

Loved our stay! What an amazing house - you feel like you are staying in a piece of Crested Butte history! Leslie was extremely responsive, available by email throughout our stay. Location was amazing - 1 block off Elk st. Heated floors throughout was a perk! Can't wait to be back!!!!

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

This is a great little cabin. It's in a perfect location if you are looking for a place close to all the shops and restaurants in Crested Butte. We walked 2 blocks to Secret Stash (pizza), 2 blocks to Third Bowl (ice cream), 3 or so block to Camp 4 Coffee, and 2 blocks to Big Al's Bike rental.

We rode bikes to Peanut Lake and along the Lower Loop trail and all through town.

My kids loved staying in the upstairs bedrooms. A word of caution - as stated, the stairs are teensy tiny! Not a problem for little feet, but might be difficult for anyone with a bigger frame. My kids loved having the space to themselves. It got a little warm upstairs, but we opened the windows and the kids enjoyed listening to the music coming from the bars and restaurants in town - not to mention the wonderful mountain air. No bathtub - just in case you have small children that aren't old enough to take a shower.

The rental process was very professional and the owners were very prompt in answering questions, etc. We would definitely rent from them again.

Crested Butte is a magical place!

perfect blend of comfort and character

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and 10 month old daughter greatly enjoyed our week in this cabin and can't wait to come back. It provided exactly what we were hoping for: a comfortable home with the charm of a mountain retreat. The best of both world's in our opinion: we loved being in town - so close to all of the activity - but the cabin's cozy, historic character transported us back in time a bit, which we also loved! Perfect vacation.

Great place with amazing location!

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from a week long stay at the cabin in Crested Butte and could not be happier with my stay. The cabin had everything I needed and the backyard was great for my pup. Being basically around the corner from Elk St and all of the restaurants and shops was idea. Leslie was very friendly and responsive to everything. Couldn't recommend it enough and look forward to coming back!

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Sopris Cabin for 4 days, while skiing at crested butte. Skiing not so good this year, but we loved Sopris. It is a great location for getting everywhere and the cabin is very well equipped. Only one suggestion, it would be nice to be able to get more channels on the tv. We will be back
