About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Are you a couple looking for the perfect Crested Butte cabin? A family of three or two-to three friends looking for a Crested Butte get-away? Sopris Cabin has everything you will want in a Crested Butte vacation home--the perfect location plus unique character and charm. The location on Sopris Avenue is ideal--just one block to the town shuttle that takes you to Mt Crested Butte (for skiing in winter and hiking in summer), and one block off the core restaurant district of Elk Avenue--the main street in Crested Butte where you will find popular shops and restaurants. (Our location is ideally located in the core of the historic district, not on the east side of town--you simply cannot find a better location!)

Sopris Cabin is part of Crested Butte's history--the front rooms were an original mining cabin dating from the 1880's. It has undergone two renovations, the most recent of which added a sunroom, Colorado sandstone floors in the main living areas and, best of all, in-floor radiant heat.

BEDROOM: The bedroom on the main level has a comfortable, king-size, bed with a pillow-top mattress. The bed also has cotton linens, down pillows and a down comforter.

KITCHEN: The large, bright and sunny, centrally located, kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, Jenn-Air gas range, dishwasher, microwave and garbage disposal. We have added a coffee maker, coffee grinder, microwave oven, toaster, blender and crock pot. The kitchen is fully equipped with utensils and cookware--everything you'll need for preparing meals. Your mealtimes become more festive when served on our colorful Fiestaware dishes.

LIVING AREA: The open floor plan includes a living area that is open to the dining room and kitchen. It is tastefully decorated with comfortable furniture and includes a wood-burning stove and TV.

SUNROOM/Rear Entry: The most recent expansion of the home included the addition of a rear sunroom with bright windows and French doors that exit onto the backyard deck. A loveseat in this room opens up to a twin-bed to provide an additional sleeping area.

BATHROOMS: The cabin has a fully tiled bathroom with walk-in shower.

BACKYARD: The fenced back-yard is nicely landscaped and has mature cottonwood and aspen trees. Enjoy summer evenings on the deck that includes patio dining furniture and a gas grill. The fenced yard is ideal for pets. The rear of the property has two off-street parking spots that are accessed via an alley.

NOTE: Our cabin also has two upstairs bedrooms, but we rent the downstairs only. (There will be no one staying upstairs!) We sometimes escape to Crested Butte without our three children and believe our 'downstairs only' option makes the perfect getaway for couples!

About Leslie

We are a family of five living in Boulder, Colorado. We love to vacation in Crested Butte! In Winter, we downhill ski, Nordic ski and backcountry ski. In summer, we hike and mountain bike. Our favorite Crested Butte events are the July 4th parade and the Alley Loop Nordic Ski in February. We would be happy to answer any of your questions about activities in Crested Butte. -Mark and Leslie

Leslie purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Leslie chose Southwestern Colorado

We visited Crested Butte many times over 20 years before purchasing Sopris Cabin in March 2010. We like being in town for the proximity to restaurants, shops and Nordic trails. But we also downhill ski, so being close to a ski shuttle stop was important.

What makes this cabin unique

Our prime location in-town makes us unique! We are just one block from the shops and resturants on Elk Ave, and from the main ski shuttle stop at 2nd and Elk. (There are only five shuttle stops in town, so many properties do not have this important benefit.) Another feature that we and our guests appreciate is the king-size bed in the main-level bedroom!

Great location- cute cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The location wad perfect. Walk 1.5 short blocks to the ski bus stop, then an easy 15 minutes ride to the slopes. Walk to all the restaurants and shops-- we never moved the car once parked. I think that if you stay on the mountain, you'd be shuttling to town often.

Leslie was responsive to the couple Qs we had.

Would have liked to be able to open the bedroom window-- rather stuffy without. I *think* though, once the snow melts, that may be an option.

Overall a 5-star stay, and we'd stay here again.

Cozy stay in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our small family to enjoy a comfortable ski weekend in town. It is super-close to the shuttle, making skiing convenient. And we loved being so close to great dinner spots. Leslie was very gracious and helpful answering any questions we had when we arrived. We would definitely stay here again.

Great little cabin close to town

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at Sopris Cabin during our stay at Crested Butte. The cabin is located downtown less than a block from all the shopping and restaurants and within walking distance to the Nordic center and shuttle drop-off. The cabin works perfect for a couple.

Wonderful!! relaxing, peaceful, very comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a nice time at the Sopris cabin. We (myself, my husband and our 21 year old daughter and her dog) rented the whole house for 3 weeks over the winter holidays. The cabin is so warm, the heated floors downstairs were perfect during the cold and snowy weather we had for our stay. The beds are very comfortable, we all slept so well. There is lots of hot water for showers. The kitchen is well equipped for making meals, we did do most of our meals at the cabin. The stacked washer and dryer were very nice to have, i could have packed lighter :-) The cabin is just perfectly situated for quick walks to the restaurants and shops on Elk. The nordic ski center is also about two blocks away and a half of block to the Mount crested butte ski bus. The nordic ski trails are fabulous in the CB area, most of them a very short drive or walk to the trail heads.

The upstairs of the cabin is just darling, with a nice bathroom/shower up there too. We are of average hight so the upstairs ceilings were just fine for us. It is possible if you were over 6 foot tall it may not suit you up there. Leslie, the owner was very responsive to the few questions we had. We would definitely stay here again!
