I want your visit to be one you will always remember.

And, I am not just an 'expert' in 'family-friendly' You will love the romance and ambiance that has been created for those special getaways. The Owner purchased this cabin in 2010

Why The Owner chose Asheville Area

When I first moved to North Carolina and began exploring the mountains, I fell in love with Madison County. Both the natural beauty and the beauty of the people who live and work here fills my heart with warmth.

What makes this cabin unique

There is so much to enjoy on this property. It is remote enough that you cannot see any neighbors, yet close to many area attractions and activities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful cabin. Our 2 families with 5 kids combined had a fabulous weekend away from it all. The children so enjoyed exploring this property and spent more time outdoors than they did in. What a treat! We have already been planning our return. We were impressed at how thought out all the details are here. We all hiked to the top of the mountain and slid back down.

Thank you very much. We will not forget our weekend.

Loved the cabin

  • 5 of 5

We loved your cabin. It was roomy and clean and had absolutely everything we needed or wanted. Loved sitting on the deck watching the moon. Everything just perfect.

I particularly appreciated the thoughtfulness that you put into making the cabin welcoming.

Also I appreciated that it was tastefully decorated without a thousand dusty knick-knacks that one so often finds cluttering up a rental property. I liked not finding a bunch of old condiments in the refrigerator. Your movie, game, and book selections were great, although we didn't really have time to do any of that because the weather was so perfect.

My 2 sisters and I agreed that it was the best place we'd ever rented.

Great Cabin for the Money

  • 4 of 5

We arrived at the Smoky Mountain Cabin in late July and stayed for an entire week. The weather was great, the cabin and surrounding areas had wonderful views and were close to several trails, streams and picnic areas. The cabin was the CLEANEST Cabin we have ever stayed in....Period! There were plenty of clean towels and the beds were pretty comfy, and all of the appliances were pretty new. We have a family of four and it was just right for us, it could have slept several several more pretty comfortably. We enjoyed Max Patch Bald (just about a 20-30 minute drive) and the local hiking in the area, and my wife enjoyed exploring around the property and gathering acorns around the oak tree. The trails at the cabin are nice, but not quite challenging enough for my twin 14 year old boys. Also, we would have liked to spend more time in the water (exploring) but some of the locals advised us against that as the Cottonmouths were quite aggressive this year so we steered clear of that. We enjoyed sitting out on the porch in the morning and in the evening and the views were very nice. There was quite a bit more traffic than what we expected mostly motorcycles and logging trucks, but the property does just sit off CR HWY 209 and it is a curvy winding road....which is a bikers dream. Also, the Cabin is remote, so if you want to go places you have to be prepared to drive 20 min to and hour plus. All in all we had a great time! The owner is very nice, and accessible if you have questions or concerns.

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed your time here. Most of the trails we cleared were designed to create easy hikes to enjoy and explore the 7.5 acres of the property. However, the one that goes up to the top of the mountain is indeed very challenging — only a few people have made it to the top. I am guessing your boys did not take that trail; sounds like that would have enjoyed it. Most guests like that the cabin is remote enough to not see any neighbors, yet close enough to enjoy the area’s activities. You get the best of both worlds - an authentic mountain cabin experience, and local attractions if you want them. It is only 35 miles to Asheville and 20 miles to Hot Springs. Guests enjoy the ease of visiting other places and then being able to come back ‘home’ to the peace and tranquility of the cabin. . Although there can be some people passing by, I find it is primarily crystal quiet at the cabin. I spend a lot of time outside when I am there, and never have a problem hearing the springs trickle, the birds chirping, the humming birds flapping their wings. It still takes my breath away, every time I go out there. Many guests have commented that it feels like a nature sanctuary - I totally agree. BTW- I have heard nothing about cottonmouths being aggressive this year, and no one has ever seen any on my property. I wish you would have mentioned that to me during your stay, as I would have been able to verify if that was accurate information. I have not heard of any of the locals I know curtailing their water activities.

Magical week

  • 5 of 5

We were there for a wedding and the whole week was magical, with the scenery, the setting, the weather, the accommodations. The cabin/cottage was perfectly located for our needs and the accommodations were ideal. We relaxed on the porch and in the yard in the mornings and just generally enjoyed the beautiful setting. Bedding, bath and kitchen necessities were all readily available and more than adequate. It was such a blessing to be able to travel so far and arrive at a home away from home without any worries. Thanks ever so much.

Owner's Response: THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND COMMENTS. I am very glad you enjoyed your stay, and look forward to your next visit. EACH SEASON HAS ITS OWN UNIQUE CHARM. I also loved what you wrote in the guestbook at the cabin: "Thank you for opening the cottage to us for this weekend. This is a wonderful retreat from all the ‘busy-ness” of everyday life. The four of us are ever so grateful, it allowed us to base here and adventure out into other parts of Western N.C. Also, thanks for being a ‘GREEN’ person and having recycling available here in the cottage! We will recommend this to others who need a quiet getaway!” PLEASE NOTE: I am very sorry you felt the beds were a little squeaky. I have had hundreds of guests stay at the cabin, and no one has ever mentioned any squeaking. I will see if I can find what you thought was squeaking.
