Serene location with privacy abounding. Pool area was a hit with the grandchildren, as was the space and surrounding resident wildlife, including a shy blue tongue lizard in residence near the pool
Review of accommodation
Comfortable accommodation, lovely views, peace and quiet. Furniture is dated and cleanliness needs attention to detail.
Great girls weekend away
I would most definitely stay at Talga Vines again. The house was very clean and tidy and easily accommodated 10 of us.
The views from the pool area and back verandah were lovely and we woke Saturday morning to four hot air balloons over the valley. We were also lucky enough to witness kangaroos jumping by.
Whilst we didn't swim in the pool, it was lovely and clean and we did enjoy sitting and eating around the great big outdoor table right near the pool.
The location was not very far off the Hunter Valley Expressway and we found it very easily.
I have read a previous 1 star review and comments and believe those visitors must be very hard to please as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found it to be excellent value for money. I look forward to my next stay at Talga Vines.
Hi Jo Thank your for your awesome review of your stay at Talga Vineyard Escape. so glad the 10 of you all enjoyed your weekend stay, and you will be returning for another stay in the future, you are most welcome. Thank you for your comment on the 1 x negative guest review that we now have, we also responded to that review of there totally unfair comments in that review. We have been operating the accommodation for 9 years and although we now have 1 x negative review , in our 9 x years of operating the accommodation and hundreds of guests that have stayed in the accommodation over the years, and also returned for stays have all be happy with there stays, so 1 x negative review out of hundreds of stays in 9 years is pretty good we think, how ever untrue it is, as hard as one tries there are some people you just can not please, and these guests were one such group. Thank you Debbie
Great Weekend in the Hunter
We had a fantastic weekend in the hunter staying at Talga Vines. The house was lovely, with plenty of space for our group of 7. The back deck and pool were great after a full day of wine tasting & we spent a good few hours out there by the BBQ. Will definitely be staying again for our next trip to the Hunter.
Be warned... We couldn't find any reviews before booking this place, so let our experience help you!
This place is FILTHY and, despite having charming "no smoking" signage throughout, absolutely reeks of cigarette smoke. It was just through everything, including the towels and dishtowels. You will wake up feeling as though you've smoked a pack of Camels.
The cleanliness of the house was sub-par, to say the very least. There was grime caked around the bathroom vanity and tap fittings, and the bath mats in both the toilet and bathroom were already dirty (and obviously had not been washed) before we arrived. There were grubby foot prints on the bath mat. I cannot overstate the filthy state of this place enough. The fridge was basically unusable. The stench which came from it whenever the door was opened lingered in the room long after it was closed, and due to this we couldn't store any food in there at all, so every meal was to be eaten out (however, in saying that, the cigarette smell and general grottiness of the place made us more than happy to leave at every available opportunity). Every single surface of the home was dirty and grimy.
Then there was the joy of discovering there was no hot water on the first night of our stay. Apparently the gas bottle had run dry, and this couldn't be addressed until the morning. Trust me, after spending a few hours in this place, you would really feel like a hot shower.
Lastly, the home is marketed on some sites as sleeping up to 15 people, and on others as 10-12 people. This astounds me, given that even with only 5 of us there we could not all be simultaneously accommodated on the couch and one person needed to sit on the floor, and when sitting around the (very cramped) dining room table, we constantly needed to stand up and shuffle to let someone pass by; not to mention the fact that there is only one (disgusting) toilet and (equally disgusting) shower!
The decor is difficult to describe, but if I had to try to, it's what I would call "circa 1986 cluttered, tuscan wallpapered piece of poo". Trust me, the photos don't do it justice and you will be very unpleasantly surprised when you walk in.
All in all, I would say that the standard of accommodation would be one of the very worst I have ever personally encountered, and this impacted largely on our weekend which we had been planning and looking forward to for some months.
After bringing this to the attention of the owner, we were met with flat out denial of the
We find this very contradictory in comparison to our other guests reviews, wouldn't have had to look to far for reviews on the property as they were on the site that the guests booked through, its is ridiculous that 5 x guests would not be very comfortable in the Accommodation as the group was small in comparison to other groups that stay. Its also very contradictory and very strange we think that the group contacted us during there stay wanting a much later check out on the Sunday ie (WANTING TO STAY LONGER ) which we allowed, during there weekend stay the guests were met in person as well as them contacting us via phone for a later check out on the Sunday and no issues were mentioned, we were only contacted by the guests 2 days after check out via email, stating if they didn't receive a sizable refund they were going to wright a very bad review, obviously just an attempt to gain back financially, and when there demands were not met they continued to write a bad review, very sad,
Absolutely peaceful and relaxing stay
Group of 10 had a fab relaxing stay in a lovely peaceful property. Highly recommend and great home (close to Newcastle) for a perfect country break. Great outdoor BBQ area and pool. Perfect for groups too
