About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, Sleeps 6

La Casita at Paradise Creek is the perfect place to relax and soak in the mountain air of Northern New Mexico. Nestled beside a creek and surrounded by cottonwoods on 3.2 acres in the mountains of Questa, La Casita is a beautiful and well-placed getaway. Just on the outskirts of Questa, a quaint, heritage-rich village, La Casita is a short, scenic drive away from both Taos (25 min) and Red River (10 min), and only a ten minute walk from Eagle Rock Lake. The abundance of natural beauty in the area offers endless opportunities to enjoy nature, from fly fishing and trail hiking in the spring and summer, to hunting in the fall, and skiing and snowboarding in the winter.

La Casita is an 800 sq. foot, two bedroom, 1.5 bath home, with a distinctive New Mexican flavor. The master bedroom has wood floors and a comfortable queen bed. The second bedroom has saltillo tile and a Murphy’s bed that turns into a double sleeper. There is also a sofa sleeper (Quadro - folds 4 ways) in the living room. The kitchen has handcrafted wood cabinetry and saltillo tile. The home comes fully stocked with linens, kitchenware, a washer and dryer, wireless internet, satellite cable television, and a DVD player.

La Casita is located at the secluded northern end of the property. Please inquire if you would like to rent the main house, Casa Leyenda (House of Legends), that sleeps up to 10 people, which is located at the opposite end of the property. (VRBO # 354783)

Questa is located on the Enchanted Circle scenic highway, near the confluence of the Rio Grande and Red River, and is at the western base of the Taos Mountains.

We have stayed here several times and we always enjoy it.

We love the quiet and the beautiful views. Always clean and comfortable. The small creek running through the property is wonderful. And the trees this time of the year are awesome. We have come to think of it as our home away from home.

Owner's Response: What a treat to get to know a precious couple like this over time who truly appreciate my casita, nature and are always warm, kind and loving to me especially now at this very hard time of my life when I just lost a loved one.

Great vacation..

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Little Casita for 29 wonderful days. This is a very cozy place for "2".. but slept 6 for a week and was adequate. Yes, there were a few minor problems, but as soon as "Pattie" was told..the problem was quickly taken care of. The weather was perfect...the Aspens were turning. There is a lot to do and to see in this area, so this was the perfect place In between Taos and Red River. Our adventure included 2 weeks of nightly visits by a mother bear and her 2 Cubs..of course that resulted in morning clean up of the mess they made. As I said..we had a wonderful time. I can not tell you how wonderful it was to work with the owner.. Pattie is great!

Cozy comforting casita

  • 5 of 5

Me and my family stayed here for a weekend so my 3 small children could see a “snowy place”. Although there was no snow here it was just a quick 10 minute drive to get to red river. This home was very clean, and well equipped with anything you would need. The creek is so soothing and sounds so pretty when you are drinking your coffee on the porch. Patricia was so sweet and helpful! She truly wants you to enjoy her casita and have a great stay.

Could be a nice place if it was kept up better. It smelled like rotten food!!

  • 2 of 5

The property is in a very nice location and has 2 bathrooms and plenty of space, which was nice. The kitchen and bath were well-stocked. However, our first and lasting impression of the home came from the overwhelming smell of rotten food that must have been left inside the property for a long period of time and removed only a day or two before our arrival. Other signs that the property must have not been used in a while included lots of cobwebs throughout the house. There were no bugs thankfully. The furniture was in significant disrepair, some patched with duct tape. The place needs a lot of cleaning and updating, and I felt robbed to have paid so much for property in that condition. I’ve used VRBO many times and rarely have I been as disappointed as this time.

Owner's Response: I had a death in the family about 4 weeks prior to their arrival and had put the property on hold prior to their arrival. Interesting that during their stay, I sent them text messages asking if everything was okay and they sent me a text message with a thumbs up. (I sent to VRBO as proof). I went to the property immediately after they left with a friend of mine, and we absolutely did not find a smell and the house in disrepair is not true. I sent VRBO pictures to prove it. The only true statement they made was that there was duct tape on the foot of the sofa. We simply removed it.

Beauty and Serenity

  • 5 of 5

This is such a lovely property. The only thing more alive and genuine than the land in this area is the owner herself. The casita was simple and peaceful. I especially loved the stories Patricia shared regarding the property, land, and her family. It was hard leaving this place to go back to the city, but we’ll be back!!!

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

Great location close to Red River. We loved the property around the house with the creek and bridge. We sat around a campfire and enjoyed the sights and sounds of mother nature.
