La Casita at Paradise Creek is the perfect place to relax and soak in the mountain air of Northern New Mexico. Nestled beside a creek and surrounded by cottonwoods on 3.2 acres in the mountains of Questa, La Casita is a beautiful and well-placed getaway. Just on the outskirts of Questa, a quaint, heritage-rich village, La Casita is a short, scenic drive away from both Taos (25 min) and Red River (10 min), and only a ten minute walk from Eagle Rock Lake. The abundance of natural beauty in the area offers endless opportunities to enjoy nature, from fly fishing and trail hiking in the spring and summer, to hunting in the fall, and skiing and snowboarding in the winter.
La Casita is an 800 sq. foot, two bedroom, 1.5 bath home, with a distinctive New Mexican flavor. The master bedroom has wood floors and a comfortable queen bed. The second bedroom has saltillo tile and a Murphy’s bed that turns into a double sleeper. There is also a sofa sleeper (Quadro - folds 4 ways) in the living room. The kitchen has handcrafted wood cabinetry and saltillo tile. The home comes fully stocked with linens, kitchenware, a washer and dryer, wireless internet, satellite cable television, and a DVD player.
La Casita is located at the secluded northern end of the property. Please inquire if you would like to rent the main house, Casa Leyenda (House of Legends), that sleeps up to 10 people, which is located at the opposite end of the property. (VRBO # 354783)
Questa is located on the Enchanted Circle scenic highway, near the confluence of the Rio Grande and Red River, and is at the western base of the Taos Mountains.
I spent a week at the Casita. It was early Spring, so the weather was all over the place - from snowy days to warm afternoons. But the Casita was perfect for whatever the day held. From the property, it was easy to get to just about anywhere in North Central New Mexico - Red River and Taos are my particular favorites of mine. And the house is a perfect jumping on point for the beautiful Enchanted Circle Drive. And it was so relaxing to just sit by creek that runs through the property and listen to the birds in the cottonwoods. But even when the weather was inclement, the house was cozy and had everything I needed or wanted. And Patricia was ever helpful and a wealth of information about the area. If you are looking for a nice quiet place to serve as a home-base for your adventures, this place can't be beat!
This is a good small house for a single family, with additional room to accommodate children, or a close family member (not a private room).
The location is great, just 15 mins from Red River - very easy for skiers. We saw deers, elks, turkeys and even mountain goats along the road. Very refreshing perspective .
Backyard is huge. The only problem for us was that the backyard is not fenced from the creek side and our dog easily crossed the creek so we couldn't let her to run free. Also there is a bridge over creek. If your dog's are very obedient, that will be a great place for them.
My husband & I, and our four med-large dogs had plenty of space in this adorable casita. When we arrived, we found it to have everything we needed: cozy living room w/ plenty of seating & room for 4 dog beds, a fully stocked kitchen to cook a wonderful meal, the convenience of 2 bathrooms, a very large master bedroom w/ an extremely comfortable bed, a 2nd bedroom & laundry facilities. We had wi-fi, cable tv & dvd's, but most of our time was spent outside on the spacious property or exploring the nearby attractions & hikes. Although we visited the area in winter, the house was always warm & cozy for our little family. The local hiking trails were very secluded & were close enough to do some shopping in Taos. Patricia, the owner, was very pleasant to work with & she made sure to let us know that she was only a phone call away should something come up! Because of some snow, the drive was quite muddy, but she took care of the problem right away & had gravel delivered immediately, even on a weekend! It was obvious that Patricia was willing to go above and beyond at anytime to make our stay more pleasant. Sometimes it can be hard to find nice accomodations when traveling with our four dogs, so we really appreciate 'pet-friendly' houses that are fully equipped and make us feel right at home! Thank you!
Good location. Close to red river and taos but far enough away to feel remote. The property was nice. Creek running by the house was lovely. We enjoyed our 3 day stay.
Wonderful cabin! The setting with the snow and the creek was a magical place! The grandkids had a blast playing in the snow and making snowmen (some of them bigger than themselves with the help of PaPa & GiGi). The cabin was warm and toasty and very comfortable. Patricia's only concern was that we were totally satisfied. We have stayed in rental homes and cabins all over the country and have never experienced the concern and total commitment to our experience as was displayed here. Great memories that will last a lifetime! We are definitely planning a return , possibly for the summer and winter.
Our family of 4 arrived late and had a little trouble getting in with the lock but eventually got in. Patricia was very nice & helpful. The cozy and rustic cabin was great. Enough room for all of us and our things. The outdoor setting for us was the best. The mountains in the back, tall trees and yard all filled with snow, rustic cabin, the fire pit area (we built a fire ) and the beautiful creek running through the property was ideal. Thank you Patricia for providing us a great place to stay for Christmas! :)
