The river, in summer is usually full of swimmers, boaties and Kayaks. Excellent boat, car park, BBQ and even tennis court facilities exist here.
Beach, rock fishing and river fishing are at Minnamurra River or Jones' Beach. It is within metres if you can tackle that. However I catch mine at the fish and chip shop - sorry to say.

About Fleur von Mengersen-Wells
Dear Guest, I am quite a mixture. My father was a Belgian/ German born Count, he became an agricultural scientist who married a Ukrainian university student during World War 2. The family lost everything. Our family migrated to Australia in 1952 and became Australian in 1956. I had a barefoot and care free childhood in a very small country town. 21 years later I also met my husband in that same small town - such a co-incidence!!! I had just graduated as a teacher. However now I prefer to do a bit of Office Administration and manage Aspect on Jones' Beach our HomeAway from home. We bought the poor little cottage in 1987 when our daughter was 5. We only starting hosting guests 8 years ago and that activity has given me a lot of pleasure and a job. It has given 2 other people part time jobs as well. The house has benefited enormously from having guests and I hope the guests have benefited from having lovely relaxing holidays in a really interesting and diverse area and of course with in view of the sea.
Fleur von Mengersen-Wells purchased this House in 1987
Why Fleur von Mengersen-Wells chose The Council of the Municipality of Kiama
We chose this area and Aspect on Jones' Beach in particular because it was the closest point to the sea from our small country town in Central NSW. The country roads to travel to it were the straightest. It was only a 1.5 hour train ride to get to Sydney and in 25 minutes and less Wollongong and Shellharbour were in reach. Why Aspect??? When you come from a small country town in Central NSW. Once per year at least you hanker to see the sea. And if you are at the sea, ideally you want to see it every time you glance in that direction. There is something special about the sea. Swimming in the sea - somehow resets your compass for the working year ahead. It clears your mind. Aspect on Jones' Beach was perfect for us, the township, shops , the Kiama Blowhole - it's a one stop location that offers just about everything.

Thank you Fleur for our wonderful stay! We always enjoy visiting. The location is amazing and the house is always so clean and homey ? will definitely be coming back again in the near future!
Karen you are a five star guest with your 5 children. You must write to me and tell me the activities you keep on finding to do on each visit. I know the children feel at home at Aspect on Jones' Beach. How was the swimming ? Did you visit Jamberoo? I think that venue is superior to other water parks. (In NSW and other states). This year my husband received a fishing rod for Christmas - so fishing skills are next on our agenda. We may give our daughter and new son in law a deep sea fishing voucher for next Christmas. Charters are available in Kiama Harbour. We haven't been on one yet though. Kind regards, Fleur And of course you will be welcomed back in the future. We will be delighted to have you and the family
Our stay at Aspect on Jones’ Beach was fantastic. Perfect location, across the road from the beach, close to shops and cafe. We enjoyed swimming, fishing at Cathedral Rocks and snorkelling at the Boneyard. Our stay was made easy with great communication from the owners. The house had everything needed for a perfect holiday.
Leanda, You sound as if you made the most of your stay. Glad to hear you enjoyed the water so much. How did you go with the fishing? Did you catch any? We got one flathead - it was delicious. 3 bites each to go around 6 people. However the fish was so fresh. The Boneyard has a great reputation among snorkelers as does the Minamurra River.
We enjoyed our stay and would return. The house was comfortable for our family of 5 plus dog.
This house is in a perfect position especially for families. We had a lovely weekend and even the rain did not stop us form enjoying the local sights in the area. I would highly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again.
Glad to hear all went well and you enjoyed the house and its' position, Laura and that your group got out and about. I find the most lovely photographs are taken in over cast conditions. The area has a lot to offer, I hope you got to the local vineyards.
Good beach location
We enjoyed our stay as we could see the ocean from the deck and close to shops. The lounges are low and uncomfortable which made it difficult to relax. Disappointed there isn't Foxtel in this rental.
A lovely place to stay
We had a lovely few days at Aspect on Jones Beach - eating breakfast as we watched the waves and the whales was simply lovely.
We will certainly book again.
Thanks for all the emails, updates about info and help.
A very organised and helpful owner.
A simple easy and relaxing place to be.
