About the property

Renovated Victorian property with two bedrooms

This property is ideally located to visit Shakespeare's town and all the historic houses associated with that time. As you walk into the street you look onto the back garden of Shakespeare Birthplace, just a stones throw from the town center. The town is full of fine restaurants and bars making a warm welcome before visiting the three theaters located in the town. This spacious property has been recently renovated and offers a well equipped modern kitchen while retaining some of the Victorian features. This property is ideal for elderly and those having difficulty with stairs. The property is located on the ground floor with a single step up to the kitchen and a very small step down into the master bedroom. The property also benefits from a large double ended bath or if you prefer you can use the step in shower cubicle.

About Lisa

I have owned Globe House since 2007 when I lived around the corner next to the canal. It's a lovely part of town and in very close proximity to the town centre.

Lisa purchased this apartment in 2007

Why Lisa chose Stratford-upon-Avon

The property has a lot of history, during it's lifetime it has been a publishing house, a pub and a holiday cottage. The property was in dire need of renovation when I bought the property and with a bit of time and a lot of love the pub was converted into two apartments. The ground floor provides a lovely space to stay just a stone's throw from all the hubbub of the town centre.

What makes this apartment unique

The renovation was done to include some of the old expectations of a Victorian house that can be seen in the bathroom and the feature fireplace in the lounge with a mixture of new with a modern kitchen and en-suite wetroom to the master bedroom.

Great Value, great location:

  • 4 of 5

This unit is situated directly across from Henley Street, home of Shakespeare's birthplace, gardens, and giftshop. Students of theatre perform excerpts of Shakespeare's comedies, tragedies, sonnets on a regular basis on an especially built outdoor theatre. Mimes do statues, comedians do skits, and crowds of people gather for snacks and tea (or coffee) on a sunny day and even in the rain. We saw Macbeth at the RSC and Mrs Rich at The Swan, and we enjoyed both, though we did not like the director's choice to use sweet-looking children as witches. The children were cheered, but they were not at all witch-like, but that was the fault of the director, not of the place where we stayed.

The unit (incuding a delightful little outdoor courtyard) was very well equipped; dishes and cooking utensils were provided and were of very good quality. Towels and other linens; toilet paper and paper towels-- all were supplied. In fact, there was nothing that could be improved in the space provided. The only problem with the space itself was the little steps separating the living areas. We had to get used to them.

We would recommend cheerfully this unit to any visitor to Stratford-upon-Avon

Fabulous apartment

  • 5 of 5

A great place to stay, you can see Shakespeare's birthplace from the front door.

We've stayed in many self catering apartments over the years and this has to be one of the most comfortable, plenty of comfortable seating, very clean , nicely decorated and well laid out. The second bedroom is next door to the bathroom so two adult couples staying can have their own bathroom which is nice .

Little cottage in walking distance of Shakespeare's Birthplace and the high street

  • 4 of 5

Smart clean cottage very well positioned to enjoy all that Stratford offers. Parking permit means you can park right outside cottage and not use the car until the end of the holiday, if you wish. Really lovely restaurants in walking distance and the river cruise was enjoyed, as well as the overall Shakespeare experience. Beds really comfortable - could of done with opening the windows in the twin bedroom to have some air whilst sleeping and some of the kitchen cooking utensils need renewing, but overall lovely place to stay. The courtyard was lovely to sit in when the sun shone and for breakfast. Would definitely stay there again. Thank you
