Rustic, beautiful, private and peaceful.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this cabin on the tail end of a family trip. It was the perfect spot to soak in the Pacific Northwest. We watched the tide come in and out. We saw the sunset and then made a fire by the water. I felt like a kid on an adventure. We had everything we needed and privacy to boot. It was lovely to look out the windows at the waterscape and enjoy total quiet and solitude in the middle of a busy, bustling vacation in and around Seattle. It's not fancy. It's better than that. It's comfortable and cozy. The outdoor shower was surprisingly warm. I was feeling under the weather and road weary one day so I took a glorious afternoon time out and laid on the bed and looked out the window at the peaceful waters and I was good as new the next day. We very much enjoyed our getaway here and I'd recommend it to anyone tempted to run away from it all. This is the perfect spot to hide til you're ready to go back to the real world.

Delightful

  • 5 of 5

Very private small cabin on beach; everything you need is provided, plus an ever changing vista out the front door. We saw all sorts of birds; also saw a bunch of seals eating some fish. Even the wifi worked great. Would definitely come back. Plus, it is very dog friendly.

Nice cozy cabin with awesome views. Use of the kayaks were great.

My only mini complaint is the cleaning is a bit high for the size of cabin. No dishwasher was not an issue as cleaning & putting dishes away was a breeze for a kitchenette. Would definitely stay again.

Rustic "Tiny Home" with Charm

  • 4 of 5

Once you get used to the steep driveway, there is not much to dislike about this rustic but very clean little cabin. Waking up in the morning to the sounds of nature and the beautiful view of the water was priceless and the evening sunsets were a great way to end the day. The cabin was furnished with everything we needed for our stay. We never did find the 2-burner hot plate but utilized the convection/toaster oven and the BBQ grille. We were there to spend the week with my son who had moved to Gig Harbor and the location was perfect. Gig Harbor is only minutes away with fine/casual dining, shopping and easy access to markets. The outdoor shower was private, comfortable and clean as well as the comfy bed (which seemed to be new).

The location may not be for everyone but as campers ourselves, was of no problem for us. Because of the dry weather and "burn ban" we could not take advantage of the fire ring provided. That would have been the perfect way to unwind and help warm those cooler evenings.

I recommend skip the crazy Seattle/Tacoma traffic and just relax at the cabin after spending the day exploring the area. It was so hard to leave knowing we were going back to our noisy, busy city life. This week's experience at Castaway Cove Cabin has made me realize how easy it would be to live in a tiny home and still have everything without all the unnecessary "stuff."

My only negative (besides the driveway) would be to dispose of the run down Tiki bar on the beach. At first glance upon our arrival, it took away from the charm of the cabin itself.

Thank you for the experience! We will always have it in mind when we plan our vacations to a home away from home.

Castaway Cove

We stayed for two weeks in August and everything was great. Both Rick Graff, the owner and Abigail Lopez, the concierge, were accommodating hosts and insured that all went smoothly.

Worked perfectly for us and our pup. Rustic accomodations but comfortable and clean. Private perfection on the beach. Bed was comfy, outdoor shower (the only shower) a welcome surprise, well-stocked but rustic kitchen (limited cooking but close enough to Main&Vine...a great market for all things take-out), good wifi, and a few kayaks to choose from. Really nice no-fuss place to stay. Thanks Rick!
