There are couple of things that make this property, in our opinion, better than other options. First~ 3 bedroom 4 bathroom! Everyone has their own bathroom/private areas to include TV's, Lanais, etc. Privacy to take a nap, read a book, watch your own show; or join the group on the large ocean view lanai. Second~ Our property has Central Air Conditioning! Most other properties may only AC the bedrooms. AC is exceptionally expensive here so this is a great luxury. Third~ The Tiki Bar grilling area overlooking the ocean. Great times to be had here! Fourth~ I live close by and this means a higher level of service to you; recommendations are automatic and any of life's problems that come up are handled in a snap! We hope to see you.
Our guest really enjoy the front door access to Waimea Canyon and Kokee Park. Our neighborhood also has the beginning of the longest white sand beach in Hawaii! If enjoying the Natural Beauty of Kauai is your goal, we are your solution! Waimea Town is 3 miles away for all necessary conveniences from grocery stores to fully staffed hospital. You can be assured that all ammenities, location, and house description are accuate. Sitting on the upstairs deck was our go-to place in the morning and the evening. The spaciousness of the property allowed for a very comfortable stay for six very different adults. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. We were "visited" by whales every morning and spectaclular sunsets each night. The ocean-front view was fantastic because at the end of a day of beach time, site seeing, or shopping, the peacefulness of the ocean made us appreciate our fortune of finding Hale La. Additionally, getting around the island was easier than anticipated. Just a half-mile down the road is a great beach. A little further west is PaliHale which had awesome waves and a peak at the beginning of the Na' Pali coast. Hale La was our home away from home. We were sad to leave.
The house was beautiful, the location was awesome, out of the way, and not overly populated. We had a car and went all the way to the end of the road on north the shore, and as far as you could go on the west, and everywhere in-between, absolutely beautiful. There were whales spouting frequently, we even saw some breach the surface. The bed was comfortable, my husband and I stayed in the garden bedroom, and fell asleep to the sound of the ocean every night. The bedrooms are separated enough to ensure privacy, and chose this house because of the private bathrooms each bedroom has. The lanai on the upper level was perfect, had a large table with plenty of seating, a porch swing, and a hammock. There were two other long time couples friends that we vacationed with, no complaints about the comfort of the other beds either. I would highly recommend this house, If you don't like stairs, than don't stay here. I found it great exercise...bedrooms are on the lower level. Patrick was very personable, showed us around the property when we arrived.He would let us know about event happenings in the local area. When we were on our way to the airport, he called to ask how our stay was and if there was anything he needed to improve upon for future visitors. We will be back to visit.
We just returned from a week stay at this house and I could not have been happier with our choice. Having been to Kauai before, we knew we wanted to be on the west side of the island, away from all the tourists, hotels and RAIN! From what others said it rained all week in Lihue, Poipu and the north side, but we had sunny skies every day.
This house is an easy walk to a small beach to the east, but about a mile to the west is a gorgeous white sand beach that we went to almost every day. It was very easy to keep the boogie boards and beach chairs (all provided by the house) in the back of our car and go back and forth. There were days that we were the only ones on that beach, and days where we would watch surfers for hours. If you haven't been to Kauai before, then you may want to spend a few days on the north side as it is really breathtaking, but since we had done that before we knew we wanted sun and we got it in Kekaha. We did one day trip up to Hanalei and it was an easy 1.5 hour drive. At this location you are also very close to the Waimea Canyon (not to miss), Polihale Beach (also well worth the dirt road drive, it is a very private beach nestled right up to the Na Pali coast) and the Na Pali coast boat docks. We found Waimea to be a very cute little town (5 minutes away), there is a grocery store, a few little restaurants and shops. MUCH less commercial than other parts of the island.
The house itself is very spacious. The kitchen has everything you need and is very modern. All of the bedrooms are well equipped as well. The showstopper for this house is definitely the lanai, I could have sat there all day watching the ocean and looking for whales (we saw lots). I also really enjoyed sitting out on the patio outside of the main bedroom on the bottom floor, which also has a beautiful ocean view.
Patrick, the owner, was very responsive and great to work with. The one drawback (if there has to be one) would be the noise from the highway, but it really wasn't an issue for us. We have two children and it didn't keep them up at all - at night the highway noise is negated by the sound of the ocean, and during the day you have such a beautiful view of the ocean you really don't even notice the cars.
We will definitely be coming back to this property on our next trip to Kauai.
When we decided to see all parts of Kauai on a two week vacation, the west side was on our radar. What a spot, we found! Grassy yard for front hand springs, outdoor kitchen to die for, and the sunsets will blow your mind! Plus, 400 yards to the east, is a great baby beach. We loved it! The lanai is exceptional, and Patrick is too! Enjoy future vacationers!
This house is beautiful and spacious and right across the street from the ocean. The sound of the waves lull you to sleep at night. It's very close to the Waimea Canyon, which is a must see on Kauai. It has a large kitchen, big dining area that we didn't even use because we loved the table out on the deck, a nice yard with a tiki-bar outside, nice sized bedrooms with window fans and ceiling fans, each bedroom has it's own bathroom. The laundry room is super handy to have on vacation too - pack less. They even have an outdoor shower that is pretty private. The yard is beautiful as well. We took advantage of their beach chairs, beach towels, boogie boards, sand mats, etc. Lots of toys. The kitchen was stocked with a lot of condiments. The house sits in a quiet little neighborhood, not real close to a lot of dining, but not too far either. Somewhat close to Art Night's in Hannepepe (Friday nights), and the grocery stores and restaurants in Waimea. We love this part of Kauai - very little rain to worry about. Polihale State Park is close - a must see too - beautiful beach, very few people, great views of the Napali coast. Patrick was a great host and we hope to return to this house again next year!
