Get away from it all and relax. This peaceful Montana cabin is located at a ''special place'' on Spoon Lake just steps away from Glacier National Park. Twenty minutes to Glacier International Airport, thirty minutes to Flathead Lake-the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi and just minutes away from the small towns of Columbia Falls and Whitefish (See guestbook comments below).
Experience Montana in this cozy cabin on the lake. Spoon Lake is a beautiful and quite lake with abundant wildlife. Relax under the cedars on the hammock and listen to the loons call. Fish from the private dock and catch perch, bass, sunfish or take the row boat out to the deeper waters to catch Cutthroat trout. Swim on a warm afternoon, pick huckleberries or take a hike on forest service land. Relax around the campfire or roast some marshmallows as you watch the sunset across the lake.
The cabin is located on Spoon Lake, right off the North Fork Road and only a few minutes from the western park boundary. Our location offers convenient access to all the hiking, fishing, rafting and recreational spots along the North Fork of the Flathead River. From your base at Aspen Shores Cabin you can set out and explore. Hike the national park trails and take in the stunning beauty of Kintla and Bowman Lakes in the less traveled portion of the park. From highway 2, you can reach Apgar Village at the main west entrance to Glacier National Park. From there, drive the spectacular. Going to the Sun road to Logan pass where mountain goats roam free.
Serene Lakefront Cabin is conveniently located close to Columbia Falls. Explore and shop in the quintessential western town of Kalispell, just 25 miles away, and enjoy the charm and culture of Whitefish only 18 miles away. Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, is just 35 miles to the south.
Back at Serene Lakefront Cabin the pace can slow, allowing all your cares to melt away. The peaceful waters of Spoon Lake are a perfect setting with no motorboats or jet skis to disturb the wildlife. We focus on the outdoor experience and our cozy cabin provides the opportunity to come close together as family and friends. You can cook in the easy access kitchen while you watch the activities on the lake. Barbecue on the gas grill or warm yourself and play games in front of the elegant Waterford gas stove after a fine day of hiking, shopping or exploring. Climb the stairs to the cozy bedroom complete with king bed and two twin beds, or open the futon in the living room and sleep right in front of the glowing fire. On warm days let the breeze blow through and smell the mountain air.
Enjoy a discount by booking stay dates before June 15th or after September 15th. If our calendar is full for the dates you are interested, check the adjacent identical cabin at VRBO listing #254419 or HomAway #905982 for dates and availability.
These times offer a quieter and slower paced experience by avoiding the crowds of the peak season. In the spring you can catch hungry fish and watch as the wildlife emerges from the long winter. In the fall enjoy the colors of the turning tamarack trees while watching the wildlife prepare for the coming winter. If our calendar is full for the dates you are interested in, ask about the availability of the nearly identical adjacent cabin.

Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us! We are a family of 5 (2 teens and a 12 year old). The cabin was perfect. We spent time both in the park (mostly West side) and here on the lake. The kids loved to swim and paddle around the lake! We saw one of the loons floating along from the porch one day! Going to the sun Road was open, and we loved it! We were above to hike Avalanche Lake, visit Lake McDonald and stop at many of the spectacular falls and vistas along the way. We hiked on snow packed ground in our shorts and T shirts at Logan’s Pass. There were people sledding, skiing and building snowmen. Some who were in flip flops or sandals were regretting it, though. The weather has been beautiful (75-85 degrees) and no rain. We are headed to the East side today to stay at a KOA cabin. We hope to visit Two Medicine, Many Glacier, and St. Mary’s. Thank you again!

We were here for a week from the San Jose, CA area. We love the location – so close to Glacier that we visited nearly every day. Highlights – Going to the Sun Road, Logan Pass, Glacier via Polebridge, dinner at Three Forks Grille, Best Pizza at Glacier Grille and Pizza (not the best service though). Thank you for providing such a lovely place to serve as our home base as we explored Glacier! We appreciated the cozy cabin. The many supplies and amenities and the boat which was used for evening fishing many nights.

We had a great time here at the cabin. We were impressed at how well stocked the cabin was. Even bear spray! Wow! The loons were great fun to watch and the kids loved the rowboat. It was wonderful to have a comfy place to come to after a rainy hike. We didn’t see much wildlife on this trip. There was a bald eagle flyover at Lake McDonald, a few other birds, but not much else. I was impressed that you had filed guides and binoculars. This was such a calm, peaceful place. We didn’t want to leave.

''The wildlife has been something to behold! Seven Black Bears, two Mountain Goats, Deer and the majestic beauty of the Loons! We will never forget.'' Carl & Lola
''I love this place! The lake is so peaceful and good fishing too! It took a while to find the spot but we found it and caught a mess of fish (5 Trout, 1 Bass, and more Perch and Sunfish than I can count). It's beautiful on the lake and I hope I can visit again someday when I have kids.'' Alan G.
''We experienced abundant wildlife at the lake: Loons, Mallards, Hares, Osprey, and Hummingbirds. The family of Loons greeted us every morning. The fire pit outside was tremendous for grilling tasty dinners and making use of the marshmallow skewers for dessert! We can only hope that your stay in Montana is as memorable and spiritual as ours has been. We are saddened as we pack our belongings because this is truly God's country.'' Sincerely Travis & Katie

Bill and Eliska,
We loved your cabin. It was what you described on the website and more. It was well-equipped, comfortable, and very fun to be in. You have the place well supplied with towels, blankets, soap, kitchen tools, pans, and outdoor seating. We found it easy to get ready in the morning and hang out at night. We had one fire (mostly we were too tired at night). The loons were wonderful--such a pretty sound in the morning and at night. The bug spray was helpful and we used it on one hike (Bowman lake). The beds were very comfortable.
It was just perfect for us. We liked that you had comfortable places to sit and read.
Thanks again. We loved the view from the cabin. It was so close to Glacier!!! We were there everyday. We went on a wonderful rafting trip with Great Northern. We did an overnight and they supplied tents, sleeping bags, wet suits, and lots of delicious food (steak on the grill, brie and honey with pears and apples...)
The cabin was a nice place to stay and close to the park, exactly what we were looking for in our trip to Glacier National Park.
The cabin is clean, well-equipped, out of the way, and a short drive from the park. We didn't use the provided boat or fishing equipment, although it was nice that we had the option.
A few things to note if you are considering staying here. The parking area is up on a hill above the cabin and the incline is moderate, definitely something to keep in mind if you have difficulty getting around. The shower is a bit tight...at 6'4" tall and 225 lbs, I felt like I was showering in a small closet. There were other people staying a various cabins around the lake, it doesn't really get in-the-middle-of-nowhere dark due to porch lights and if anyone is noisy (like our neighbors in the cabin directly beside us), you will know it.
Other than those things, when the neighbors kids went to bed, it was very serene. In the later evening and early morning hours, you could hear coyotes, may have been a wolf or two in there, as well as a loon or two on the lake when it was still before dawn.
If we get back out that way, this place will definitely be on our list for places to stay.
Our family of 5 spend 5 nights in this adorable cabin. Everything was clean and well maintained. It was well furnished and just right for our needs. Our kids enjoyed spending most of their time on the dock fishing, feeding the ducks and just sitting, soaking in the views. The wildlife around us at the cabin consisted of ducks, loons, moose along the highway, chipmunks, rabbits and wolves howling in the distance. We all were anxious to return to the quiet peacefulness of the cabin after venturing into Glacier National Park. Our family now has treasured memories together from our time here! Hoping to return one day.
We absolutely loved this place! It is simple and charming, and has everything you could want for a mountain getaway. Our favorite parts were the outdoor fire pit, the paddle boat, the adirondack chairs (which we took down to the dock everyday), and the VIEW!! 100% recommend!!
My family of 3 absolutely loved staying in this cabin. This was my first time ever using VRBO, and I wasn't sure what to expect when I rented it. I wanted to rent something different than our regular hotels for our summer vacation and I am so happy that we found this cabin. The cabin is right on the lake, even the views of the lake from the cabin are quite beautiful. My husband and 6 year old son had such a fun time using the row boat that was provided and spent hours on it going around the lake. There are even fishing poles in the cabin for fishing on the lake. We also had a fun time using the fire pit and making smores. The gas grill that was provided was great for our BBQ's. The kitchen was well stocked with what we needed for our cooking. The beds were very comfortable. And we thought that the location of the cabin was very convenient for getting to Glacier National Park.
This was an amazing destination for our family. My family thoroughly enjoyed the small cabin. I think the highlight of our trip though, was the row boat provided and the peaceful waters of Spoon Lake! We spent time in the boat and time in the water. It was wonderful.
We absolutely loved this adorable cabin in a peaceful setting. The cabin was clean and well stocked and the easy access to the fishing pier was delightful. It was everything that we hoped for and more!
