Heaven in Virginia

  • 5 of 5

Had a fantastic time staying at The Pond Cottage! It's hard to believe something so private and so peaceful exists so close to Baltimore/DC.

The cottage was clean and adorably decorated, and the property incredibly convenient to town (about ten minutes away). We had cocktails on the dock, kayaked and swam in the pond, roasted marshmallows on the fire pit, and listened to the frogs in the evening- the sounds of nature at night and morning are incredible! The hot tub was perfect after a day of running around the lawn with our dogs, and there's a waterfall built into the hillside creating the most perfect ambiance for relaxation.

We brought extra towels for our two dogs- I highly recommend this, as the pond edges can be a bit muddy! I also recommend an inner tube or float for further pond enjoyment- we brought two and attached them to the kayaks for fun! :) There are plenty of dishes, but no dishwasher, so some paper plates and plastic cutlery can help cut down on kitchen time. Be sure to enjoy the rain shower head and stop by BackRoom Brewery (ten minutes away) for a beer.

We would definitely recommend this cottage! No hesitations, just book it!

Hidden Treasure!

  • 5 of 5

I booked the cottage for the family so we could spend some quality time together, what we were greeted with was a cozy and modern little nook.

We loved the privacy and all it's offerings. The private pond, waterfall, fire pit and hot tub were all added extras to this hidden treasure. We had such a great exploring the grounds and hiking up hidden trails the property had to offer. Our children absolutely fell in love with the cottage and at ages 7 and 11 that would be somewhat of a surprise. The only sour point was the Wi-fi was down for a couple of day's due to severe storm that hit the area day's prior to our stay, but to be honest it wasn't a big deal. It allowed us to bond as a family as we played board games, chilled in the hot tub and watched movies together. Frank and Sean were super friendly and a great help throughout our stay. So if you're looking for a super private getaway were you literally drop off the grid upon arriving, this is the right place for you. I am sure the family and I will be back to visit in the near future.

Thank you,

Raul Beloff

great spot for a relaxing secluded getaway

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I went there just for a relaxing weekend trip. It was cute, simple, and just a nice secluded place for us to hangout for the weekend. About the only real complaint I'd have is that the oven was pretty nasty, and the provided pots/pans were beat to hell. Not uncommon in a rental property though, but something they should monitor more frequently and rotate out pots/pans badly scratched or flaking their coating.

But it was wonderful otherwise, and I'd definitely recommend it!

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is a great get-away for those who just want to get away for a few days. I used the cottage as the place to stay so I could hike in Shenandoah National Park and fish in local freshwater streams. The park is less than a half hour away and only a 5 minute walk to go fishing in the Shenandoah River.

I caught many small mouth bass among the two keepers.

Don't rely only on your GPS to find the cottage, follow the directions too. When I used both, I had no problem finding this beautifully private place to really relax and enjoy the peace, quiet and seclusion of the location.

I had read the reviews prior to mine about the waterfall and thought -no big deal- but in fact it was really nice. The waterfall is about 25 feet total, so the sound of the water is very soothing. The location is really quiet except for the sounds of nature.... be prepared at night for a loud chorus frogs.

As others have said, the cottage is very well stocked, you really only have to bring your personal clothing and food. Many of the condiments, basic toiletries and cleaning supplies were available in the cottage. The cottage was clean and Sean was readily helpful by text message and e-mail.

I had a great stay and hope to come again next spring.

Beautiful water fall into rock pool that overflows into pond is one of a kind experience. Large lined swimming pond with beach only steps from deck.
