great spot for a relaxing secluded getaway

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I went there just for a relaxing weekend trip. It was cute, simple, and just a nice secluded place for us to hangout for the weekend. About the only real complaint I'd have is that the oven was pretty nasty, and the provided pots/pans were beat to hell. Not uncommon in a rental property though, but something they should monitor more frequently and rotate out pots/pans badly scratched or flaking their coating.

But it was wonderful otherwise, and I'd definitely recommend it!

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is a great get-away for those who just want to get away for a few days. I used the cottage as the place to stay so I could hike in Shenandoah National Park and fish in local freshwater streams. The park is less than a half hour away and only a 5 minute walk to go fishing in the Shenandoah River.

I caught many small mouth bass among the two keepers.

Don't rely only on your GPS to find the cottage, follow the directions too. When I used both, I had no problem finding this beautifully private place to really relax and enjoy the peace, quiet and seclusion of the location.

I had read the reviews prior to mine about the waterfall and thought -no big deal- but in fact it was really nice. The waterfall is about 25 feet total, so the sound of the water is very soothing. The location is really quiet except for the sounds of nature.... be prepared at night for a loud chorus frogs.

As others have said, the cottage is very well stocked, you really only have to bring your personal clothing and food. Many of the condiments, basic toiletries and cleaning supplies were available in the cottage. The cottage was clean and Sean was readily helpful by text message and e-mail.

I had a great stay and hope to come again next spring.

Our escape...

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I only live outside of DC but this little getaway was so private we felt like we were on an island, far away by ourselves. The cabin had so much natural sunlight we felt like we woke up in nature (at our perfect temperature ) We read on the patio every morning, enjoyed the hot tub on the deck and played with kayaks in the pond. It was rejuvenation for our busy lives and even our relationship that tends to get neglected with daily stressors and work. Thank you O'Reilly family for our beautiful memories ♡

Perfect getaway to celebrate our anniversary

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I wanted a nice romantic getaway for our 5 year anniversary with our new dog. We were very pleased that the Pond Cottage lived up to its pictures and reviews. It was an easy hour and a half drive from DC and the directions were straight forward. It is well decorated and the furniture and bed are very comfortable. It is definitely designed for a couple getaway, there is room upstairs for a kid or two. You are completely isolated in the cottage with nothing but nature around you. It is perfect for dogs, our puppy loved running around and exploring. We had a family of deer come to the pond in the early evening and saw a bald eagle on the property. We drove to the Shenandoah National Park (about 20 minutes away) and did a hike. On our way back we went to Backyard Brewery (10 minutes away). Aside from that we walked around the property and enjoyed the views.

The only issue we had with our stay was that the shower broke and the water would not turn off. I called Sean and he was at the house within 30 minutes and came up with a temporary solution. It was a mild inconvenience but the response time was great and he offered us a late check-out the following day. We hope to return to the cottage soon!

Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Better than advertised! Perfect setting and coziness for our family of 4. Played board games and read books. Close enough but yet far away. We would definitely stay here again. Download the app - all instructions were spot on.

Piece of Eden

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely little cottage. Has everything you need including peace and quiet. Easy to wake up in the morning and do yoga on the deck while the sun comes up. Take a quick soak in the hot tub after and then walk over to the deck across the pond and read a book. I know there is plenty more to do but if you just need a break it's also perfect for that. We will be back very soon!

Beautiful water fall into rock pool that overflows into pond is one of a kind experience. Large lined swimming pond with beach only steps from deck. While we do out best to keep everything up and running, all outdoor amenities are subject to weather or maintenance limitations (example: waterfall turned in colder months to keep pipes from freezing/bursting)
