This spacious flat of 632 sq. ft. is on the lower ground floor of this magnificent Victorian house in the heart of Notting Hill, a short walk from Notting Hill Gate underground station and with the vibrant Portobello market nearby as well as a wide selection of restaurants and bars. The flat has 2 bedrooms, one double with a 5ft wrought iron bed and french doors leading out to the garden, and the other is a single bedroom with a single wrought iron bed. Both have comfortable Vi-spring mattresses.
In the very large sitting room there are 2 Ercol studio couches that make comfortable single beds for anyone fairly slim (they are a normal bed length but 75cm wide), fine for teenagers but a bit narrow for a large chap. There is a dining table and six chairs at the end of the sitting room.
The kitchen, which is a long narrow galley kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and plenty of cookware, plates, dishes and cutlery etc.
The bathroom is located between the two bedrooms and is small, with a small washbasin, WC and shower (no bathtub).
Holland Park and Kensington Gardens are both a short walk away and Notting Hill has some of the most interesting fashion shops in London in the Ledbury Road/Westbourne Grove area which is very close.
Nearby Attractions: The West End of London with its theatres, galleries, museums and shops are a very short tube or bus ride away and closer still is Hyde Park which has facilities for horse-riding, roller blading or just strolling. In the middle of the park is the Serpentine Gallery which has regular exhibitions of modern artists and is itself as fascinating building.
On the south side of Hyde Park is the Royal Albert Hall with the recently restored Albert Memorial opposite, two stunning examples of high Victorian architecture as well as the venue for regular concerts.
Museums: In South Kensington which is also a short tube or bus ride are the famous Victoria & Albert Museum, The Natural History Museum and The Science Museum, all magnificent buildings in their own right and housing some wonderful exhibits. Most of the big museums and galleries in London now have a late evening where you can visit after normal closing times and even have a meal.
I live with my family in the upper part of the house and work as an antique dealer and designer.
Hilary Little purchased this apartment in 1978
I love the Victorian architecture of this area and my house has all its original features.
You can stop looking for rental property now that you have found this listing. It would be very hard to find rental property in a better location in London. A couple steps out of the apartment and you are standing on Portobello Road. The Notting Hill Gate tube station is a short walk. From there you can be at most central London attractions in 30 minutes. With several nearby grocery stores (Tesco & Marks & Spencer), meals at home are easy. In fact, Tesco has a special offer of a sandwich, chips and drink for 3 pounds. Hilary lives upstairs and is a very delightful host. Her customer service is AAAAA+. The apartment is accurately described. When we arrived the apartment was clean and well maintained. We enjoyed all the major London attractions which were easily accessible from the nearby Tube station. We highly recommend the Thai restaurant/English pub combo called the Churchill Arms which located close to the Notting Hill Gate tube station. I have no problem in recommending this apartment to my friends and family. Stay here and you will not regret it. I give our stay five stars.
The location is fantastic. Probably 50 meters from the start of the Portobello Road market. The apartment is in the basement. It's got a fairly large living area, a narrow galley-style kitchen and two stand alone bedrooms (one larger and one narrower). Hilary was gracious and responsive. We couldn't figure out the heat, and she came right down to show us the system. Our only complaint was the bathroom and shower were very small. It was hard to even turn around in the shower. The building and street are very pretty. Several days we walked out and tourists were photographing our row of buildings. The Notting Hill Gate tube station is about a five minute walk. The combination of price and location made this well worth it. We are a family of four with two college age children. (My son slept on the couch which was fine, although not super comfortable.)
I highly recommend the flat. The value was just superb. Hillary was very gracious upon our arrival and throughout our stay, and the entire booking process was smooth indeed. In terms of location, you simply can't ask for more and the flat itself was charming and comfortable. Compared with other flats with a similar location and offering, the place was simply unbeatable. I will be back for certain.
We would like to thank Hilary for the very good stay we had in your appartment , it was very comfortable and the location was very nice
for sure this is a place to be in notting hill and our preferred adress in london when hopefully we return to your country.

We had a wonderful time in Notting Hill and this flat is very close to Portobello Market and has good access to all of your transport and daily needs.
The bathroom and kitchen are compact but both were clean and everything worked fine.
The owner, Hilary, lives upstairs and is on hand to offer local advice and stored our bags for the day after we checked out. We found her very helpful and made the booking process from Australia an easy one. The apartment is the lowest level of the building with access down some stairs.
We would visit here again.
My husband and I had a great time with our 2 little boys (2 1/2 and 10 months) in HIlary's cozy flat right near Portobello Road and fashionable Westbourne Grove. The location was UNREAL and the apartment was cozy and perfect for 2 adults, a toddler, and a baby. You are literally a stones throw from the best shops, restaurants, and cafes, and also close to Hyde Park. It is easy to get taxis, the bus, and to walk everywhere. Hilary was also very hospitable. We will be back!
This flat is in Notting Hill which is uniquely situated to provide a wide variety of interesting places to visit. Notting Hill is famous for its antiques market in Portobello Road which has its main day as Saturday but during the rest of the week Portobello Road is home to some fascinating antiques and retro shops, a fruit and veg market now selling organic produce and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday a brilliant flea market.
A short walk from the flat are the fashion shops of Ledbury Road and Westbourne Grove where you can find Paul & Joe, Paul Smith, Joseph, Whistles, Ted Baker, Ralph Lauren and many others.
As well as this there are some fantastic restaurants and food shops where you can buy ready cooked food, including Tom Conran's deli and countless others. The Electric Cinema has a great restaurant as well as the most comfortable cinema 2-seater sofas in London.
