The stunning Japanese style guest house is located on the beach by the small fishing village of Cabuya, 3 miles from Montezuma. The sun rises directly in front of the house over the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Nicoya. Costa Rica’s first national wildlife reserve is located a short distance to the south, at the tip of the peninsula. Provisions are available in Cabuya, and several excellent local eateries provide a variety of cuisines. Montezuma, with its beautiful beaches, many restaurants and activities, is just three miles up the beach to the North. There are special spots to swim and explore between Montezuma and the Wildlife Reserve. Dos Iguanas was inspired by the clean and simple style of traditional Japanese architecture. The house is a sincere and successful expression of a natural philosophy that invites surrounding scenery into the living spaces. Your stay will most likely include a visit by the local tribe of howler monkeys. Ask about additional space in our main house.

Lovely place! The property is beautiful and the beach is right there. The host was very responsive and helpful. I was quite comfortable. A bit of a challenge getting there, but worth it if you want a private beach cabana. Also near Montezuma which is a lot of fun. Ocean time is subject to tides.
Beautiful little house
This is my favourite house in Cabuya. The kitchen is small but it has all the essential things you need. The second floor feels big. It has a sitting area and the panels all around can be opened, so it's bright and breezy during the day. Great ceiling fan with different speed above the bed, so you never feel hot at night. It has a small space under the stairs where you can leave your valuables and that that you can lock. Great sitting area outside as well. Beautiful garden that leads to the beach, with good swimming at high tide. Great spot to watch the sunrise. Close to everything in the village. And the best thing is that the house is on the monkey trail so you get the howlers and the capuchins.
Nine days in Paradise at Dos Iguanas Guest House
The Guest House at Dos Iguanas is in a perfect Cabuya location with plenty of privacy and within easy walking distance to shopping for all of the essentials, as well as near several restaurants. The house was exactly as advertised, with a well-stocked kitchen, a nice bathroom, a spacious bedroom and sitting room upstairs, and a pleasant outdoor dining space. We spent much time relaxing in the hammock, and we loved being high up in the trees and sharing the place with our frequent iguana, monkey, and bird friends. It was wonderful to be able to open the many sliding windows, but we also appreciated the screening and the fan upstairs. My cousin and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there as a base for our adventures in and around Cabuya, including swimming right out front at high tide, a hike in Cabo Blanco Reserve, a walk to and swim at Cemetery Island, an early morning walk to the river to see many birds, and several bus rides to Montezuma for some lazy days at Playa Grande. Although we were sad to leave, we are sure there will be many others who will have the pleasure of staying at this unique and beautiful gem, and that perhaps we will return again someday. Thank you, Sean, for sharing your special place with us.
If you like to enjoy the beauty of flora and fauna with a natural touch, this property is a good choice
Paradise only steps from your own private beach!
This place is Costa Rica at its best! This was my husband and I's second trip to CR and dos iguanas was everything we could have asked for. We fell asleep at night to the howler monkeys and woke in the morning to see spider monkeys and large iguanas in our back yard. We bought fresh red snapper from Vin (Cindy's uncle) that was caught that morning and rented kayaks from Jim two doors down to do some snorkeling at isla de Cabuya. The hammocks were great for afternoon siestas! The house had everything we needed and was the perfect distance to (and distant enough from the noise) of montezuma. Do yourself a favor and check this place out! Make sure to rent a car. We will be back hopefully this year with family! Sean we can't thank you and Cindy enough!!!!
The Real Costa Rica
We've returned several times to this beautifully handcrafted house to enjoy sunrises on the beach, monkeys in the trees, bird watching, beachcombing, fishing and getting to know folks in the friendly village. This is a wonderful Costa Rican experience off the beaten path.
