This property is a private bungalow in the best location in Venice Beach. It is walking distance from the two best shopping and entertainment streets on the west side of Los Angeles- Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, and Main Street in Santa Monica. Both streets offer a multitude of restaurants, shopping, antiques, pubs and other entertainment, all close by. Also close by is the beach, with the famous Venice Boardwalk to the south, and the Santa Monica Pier to the north. To the east, Whole Foods Market, the neighborhood breakfast place, Flake, the Venice Beach Wine Bar, and more restaurants are a just short walk away.
Because there is no place like Venice, and to truly experience it you must live like a local (not stay in a hotel). There is an energy and excitement in our neighborhood that is unparalleled. A vibrant cultural, art, music and culinary scene makes Venice a great place to live and vacation.
The idea of a place near the beach with bikes and beach stuff sounded great. We took the bikes up and down the beach walk and we had a blast. Nearby is a great restaurant (the rose") and Abbot Kinney Blvd is nearby. The place has a bathroom, bed, kitchen with stuff, a sofa and some art. But... The state of the interior (the paint on the walls, the quality of the sofa, the quality of the bed and the quality of the shower) as well as the quality of the outdoor area made me feel that I was staying in a "junky house". We did not want to be inside. We spent all day and most of the evenings outside. The idea of sleeping in that bed gave me shivers. I would have almost preferred sleeping outside across the street with all the homeless (nice bunch of peep, lots of them).
Adding to the state of the house, when we came back one evening after dinner, we found someone's phone in the living room. Either stolen or lost. Anyway, someone entered the premises while we were renting it - unannounced. I asked the owner and he simply replied that it "could" have been his manager. wtf?!
Bottom Line: If you are not picky about the quality of the place, by all means go for it. The idea is great, but I would not return.
Found my way to the suite from LAX (20minutes, cab was less than 30$); hedge at door was just cut back, and I was quickly into the building. The walk to the beach takes only minutes, and this suite offers a simple place to rest and refresh to explore Venice and Santa Monica.
Rented here for 5 days and thought I would highlight the pros and cons
- Responsive contacts
- Full kitchen and plenty of towels that were available.
- WIFI and Netflix.
- Free Parking Spot
- In the morning and nights, were a bit cold and the heater was not working, I requested a portable one but didn't receive one
- Definte touchups are required - Windows and screens, front door locks are a bit gimmicky, Need a fan for the washroom or it gets very humid and stuffy after taking showers, Wall painting touch ups. Front door needs a screen. Holes in walls.
- Cleanliness in the bath tub. Had Soap drips and dried soap marks around the tub.
- Garbage bins were overflowing outside. I was asking out the garbage daily and this was a bit disgusting
- Washer and drier is outside and not in the suite
Overall, i would probably spend a bit more and seek elsewhere, however, if you are just there to enjoy venice beach life and will be out 99% of the time and want somewhere to stay..this would be more ideal.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely rent again. It was actually quite secluded despite being on a pretty busy street by the trees and bushes. We enjoyed the hot tub each night even though the jets didn't work right. Close to the beach and the pier and a lot of restaurants. Driving distance from Disney, Universal Studios, and other attractions. When we blew a fuse and I emailed, it was fixed right away. There are homeless across the street but were harmless and they seemed to almost protect the street. John met us when we arrived and helped us with a parking situation. He is very nice. Bicycling on the beach was very nice.
The rental was just as described and was really great. Would highly recommend.
there was everything you need..little kitchen, fully equipped, towels, hot tub, tv...convenient location near the beach. Would definitely stay again
Three of us stayed and it was a great spot near Venice Beach. It could have been a bit better kitted out - missing a corkscrew and another towel for the third person.
