Our spacious, year-round home is comfortably furnished for weekly rental on beautiful, serene Saturday Pond. Envision a classic cabin with screened porch combined with modern features including a large deck and open concept kitchen/living/dining area with skylights. It is a great place to 'unplug', connect with family, enjoy nature, explore antique shops, stargaze, listen to the loons, read a book in the hammock and relax. Features include a dock with shallow, sandy entry, canoe, rowboat, two kayaks, fire pit, washer/dryer, 2 full bathrooms and beds for 8. We intentionally have no internet access and only local television channels in order to be able to fully escape and appreciate our time away from the rat race. There is a DVD player and some movies as well as a local library in Casco, should urgent business require you to temporarily 'connect' (and we hope it doesn't:).
Summer Relaxation and Cool Down - This location on the pond is great for days full of... casual swimming, barbeques on the deck, canoeing or rowing, playing a game of catch in the yard, blueberry picking, taking a walk down the road to the marsh for birdwatching, taking a trip to Casco for ice cream and enjoying an evening fire in the firepit. The 'great room' connected to the deck with stairs leading to the path to the water makes it all feel like one big indoor/outdoor room. For a change of pace, take an easy day trip to Portland, Freeport or North Conway, NH, all a 50 min. drive.
Fall and Winter Recreation and Fun - There is a great family apple orchard 20 minutes away, with a nice hike up Rattlesnake Mountain across the street. For great hiking views, visit Mount Tire'm in Waterford or Pleasant Mountain (Shawnee Peak) in Bridgton, only 30 minutes away. In the winter try cross-country skiing at Carter's in Oxford, or skiing/riding at Shawnee Peak or Sunday River (50 min. drive). Saturday pond freezes every winter for fantastic skating and there are some fun cross-country ski/snowshoe trails on nearby snowmobile tracks and along the pipeline.
We are a family of four and have varying interests. We all enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, swimming, canoeing, sailing, and skiiing. We enjoy exploring new places, but love coming home to Maine to connect as a family without distractions.
Eric & Hildi Arnold purchased this house in 2002
We were looking for a quiet, beautiful lakefront home with minimal distractions and easy to access on weekends.
We love getting away from the rat race and doing things we don't typically do at home: play cards and board games, do puzzles, enjoy bonfires, kayak, hike, ski, snowshoe, pick apples or blueberries, and spend our days outside.
Our stay on Saturday Pond followed a week along the coast, and it was truly the best part of our vacation. Clean, spacious, comfortable, wonderful! Plenty of space for everyone, a lovely open kitchen/living room, a wonderful sun porch for reading and naps, spacious and comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms, a wonderful picnic/fire pit area, and a great dock and waterfront. Puzzles, games, all of the necessary water accessories -- we did not feel the need to go anywhere once we arrived. Eric and Hildi were very responsive to every communication we had with them. It truly was one of the most relaxing vacation weeks we have had in a very long time, and the best rental we have had. We would love to rent this house every year!! Thanks, Eric and Hildi!
The lake was beautiful and the house was delightful -full of lake charm. We loved hearing the loons! My grown children were happy to sit in the dock, kayak or canoe it have fun playing lawn games!! Very peaceful and relaxing!! Our dogs spent the week in the water and were happily exhausted by the end of the week. We hated to leave❤️
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful vacation home. Whether kayaking on serine Saturday Pond, occupying a rainy day doing puzzles on the dining room table, or using it as a home base for travels up the coast, this wonderful home met and surpassed all of our expectations.
Saturday Pond and your home are both special places. Our extended family enjoyed our vacation very much. Even though the weather was rainy for most of the week, we had a wonderful time. The fishermen/women in our family were well satisfied with their catch. Both my husband and my daughter caught their biggest fish ever! We enjoyed the watercraft and the swimming on the days that weather allowed us to use the lake. The yard was big enough for a great lobster feast without smelling up the inside of the cottage! The beds are comfortable and the cottage is well stocked with everything necessary to cook. We also took advantage of the well stocked game/puzzle/toy closet on those rainy days. There is enough space in the home for everyone to find a place to be without being on top of one another. We felt right at home from the moment we entered your place...comfortable, cozy and clean. We were looking for a quiet lakeside place where we could fish and visit and enjoy our family and we found it! Thanks for a great vacation! We hope we get to come back!
The house on Saturday Pond provided us with an idyllic location and a spacious, family-friendly home in which to vacation. The area is quiet and peaceful - a true escape from the hectic pace of everyday life. We had three generations in the house at one point, and this beautiful spot pleased everyone. I would highly recommend a stay here for quality family time. Nothing like smores over the the fire pit to bring people together! And the haunting call of the loons early in the morning is a wonderful way to start the day.
I needed a spacious and airy house for my family reunion. We had multiple families with varying ages and everyone found it comfy and easy to relax in. Having the dock and a beautiful lake was like having our own private playground for the kids and the adults.....peaceful, casual, memorable.
