What a Gem!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this property. Ed and Daphne were wonderful hosts and they provided many “extras” that made for a wonderful visit. They even provided fresh eggs and a bottle of wine! If you are seeking a secluded vacation getaway near Lexington, look no further!
The property was amazing. It was private and had lots of space to relax. Ed was great with communicating throughout the process.
Great place to stay for parents weekend at VMI
This is a beautiful mountain top retreat. This was the third time staying here for VMI parents weekend. We love this place. The owners are very hospitable and friendly. The place is spacious, clean and very up to date with the amenities. I highly recommend staying here.
Congratulations on your son graduating this academic year, but it will be sad to lose such long-term, nice guests. May you all stay healthy and do well. All the very best, Ed and Daphne
Serene setting with amazing view! Perfect mountain getaway!
We had a wonderful time in the Lexington area. We enjoyed staying at the Blacks Creek Station retreat. It provided the comforts of home with a relaxing setting! Make sure you bring a 4-wheel drive vehicle!
Most of our visitors/guests do not have 4 wheel drive or all-wheel drive. We encourage the use of multi-wheel drive for the same reason we have a 10 mph speed - to save the gravel on the driveway from "washboarding" and being kicked off to the side.
5 stars are not enough!
Words can not describe well enough the hospitality of Daphne & Ed and the beauty of their property! They welcomed us with farm fresh eggs & a bottle of wine. They thought of everything to make our week stay as comfortable as our own homes. The view is spectacular & so peaceful. We loved visiting with them & miss them already. A must stay if you are looking in this area! Priscilla, Jeff, Shari & Chris
Super guests. Faithfully observed the 10 mph speed limit on the driveway. Spent a great deal of time cleaning and doing laundry before leaving. Sorry to see them leave.
Property was impeccable, and the owners thought of EVERYTHING! We were 2 older couples traveling for a wedding nearby. We has the whole walk-out basement level to ourselves, which was set up essentially like 2 private master suites on either end, with the living space, huge laundry room, and kitchen in the middle. The kitchen was well stocked with great accessories. There is a large lovely covered patio accessible through one bedroom with a great view of the surrounding mountain tops, and we enjoyed our meals watching dozens of humming birds buzzing around the yard to numerous feeders. The owner was very friendly, and made himself quickly available when we needed him, either via text, phone or in-person. The long "driveway" to the property is actually an extremely well maintained gravel road, and navigating it in the dark was made easy by the owner installing reflector poles on either side of the road well ahead & within headlight view. But do stick to the 10 miles an hour! We wish we had a couple more days to stay to enjoy the total peace and quiet!
The city of Lexington VA is a 14.5 mile drive from our home and hosts quality restaurants, attractions, banks and shopping. Rockbridge County also hosts 3 wineries complete with wine tasting opportunities, as well as Devils Backbone and Blue Lab beer breweries
