We are long time residents of Dana Point. Both of us are local business owners and we enjoy sailing, walking, and camping.
The Owner purchased this house in 2009
Having grown up in Dana Point enjoying all the activities associated with a beach life style, our desire was to offer a vacation rental in what we consider to be one of the nicest spots in California.
We enjoy being able to walk to our sailboat in Dana Harbor, walk the local beaches & Headlands trails, and shop the farmers market at Town Center on Saturdays.
Many many thanks for a truly memorable visit-
Our annual college gathering of 50-somethings was the best.
Amazing weather, gorgeous house, gorgeous views- this place has everything one could hope for and more. You guys are a delight- I appreciate your help & patience from the moment I e-mailed you so many months ago- look us up if you come to Colorado.
We were in Dana Point for a family wedding and this home was perfect our week long stay with our kids and grandchildren .The home was very well appointed. The owners really thought of everything . The ocean views from many of the rooms were absolutely spectacular. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay.
We had an amazing stay! It was my wedding weekend and I wanted a large, comfortable, clean, and beautiful house for the long weekend to spend time with my friends and family. The pictures don't really do the house justice. The large foyer with a high ceiling is a beautiful welcome that draws you back towards the amazing ocean view visible from the front door. The living spaces are immaculately decorated with photos, paintings, and beautiful furniture. The living room couch was really comfy, and the seating in the living room overall was really perfect for a large group. The TV, stereo, and wifi worked well. Not only is the kitchen extremely well stocked and functional, but there is a list in the kitchen that describes where all the necessities are. The hosts left us a bottle of wine to enjoy, how sweet! The deck is incredible - amazing views, lounge chairs, table to eat at, a grill that works well, and a little gas fire pit. It's a perfect house for a large group, with multiple seating areas and a large and well-appointed kitchen and dining area. The bonus room on the 2nd floor was great with a queen air mattress with clearly labeled bedding. The owners leave plenty of unobtrusive labels and signs to help you find things - little details like the plug to reset the wifi if needed, how to work the stereo system, etc. - that show the detail that goes into their care of the house. The 4 bedrooms downstairs were nice, neat, and well-appointed (the bunkbed room is definitely meant for kids). Master bathroom was huge and gorgeous with a huge steam shower, white marble, great views!
Just a few small things that didn't impact this house's 5-star rating but that I thought I would mention. I wasn't a huge fan of the sleep number bed in the master bedroom, though perhaps that it just my preference for mattress. The sheets smelled a bit to perfume-y for my liking, too, but I just rewashed them with plain detergent and it was fine. There's also a mottled glass door between the master bedroom and one of the spare bedrooms. It locks from both sides and has curtains, and while you can't see through it, you can definitely hear through it and see the light from the neighboring room. I also wish the master bedroom decor and bedding was updated a bit.
Overall, it was an amazing house and stay, and the (very) few negatives were a drop in the bucket compared to everything else. Dan was kind and communicative throughout! I would definitely stay again.
The property was used by our family for housing and miscellaneous activities that flanked our daughter's wedding in late May. We moved from the Dana Point area to Texas a couple of years ago, so we knew the location was going to be convenient to many of our favorite restaurants, grocery stores and the wedding venue. The well-equipped kitchen, multiple outdoor seating areas and various dining locations afforded many pleasant family-oriented meals and opportunities to catch up. The bed linens and towels were nice enough to satisfy even the most particular guest and there was plenty of everything we needed. I was pleasantly surprised to find hair dryers and bath products in all the dressing areas...there's no need to bring all of that for your guests. Two things varied from the online presentation: The elevator was not operational during our stay and the sofa in the upstairs den does not make into a bed. Every question was quickly answered by very accommodating owners.
We are from Texas and we rented this home to use as the hub for all of my daughters wedding festivities which was being held in San Juan Capistrano. It was the perfect place to host dinner for the grooms family one night. The whole house was stocked incredibly well if you needed just about anything and I felt right at home in the kitchen as I made breakfast for 9 each morning. My husband and I were treated to an incredible master suite including our own private balcony and even a view of the Pacific while you are brushing your teeth and showering! My mother enjoyed her own personal space on the third floor which included a half bath. Our other daughter and her husband had their privacy on the main floor which included a nice bedroom and a full bath plus there was another half bath for company in the main floor. My daughter who was getting married had an incredible room to herself and shared a jack and Jill bath with her three bridesmaids who were from out of town and shared 2 other bedrooms. As if that wasn't enough the view and the outside areas were incredible for eating, sunbathing and talking around the fire pit at night. Dana Point is a magical place. From going out for fish tacos, hiking to heading to beautiful Salt Creek beach, we did it all! The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful also and we would do it all over again.
This home turned out to be perfect our family reunion, and the owners were so friendly, responsive, professional and easy to work with. We definitely plan on returning if possible!
Our family needed a place that was big enough for 9 adult and two toddlers, with other family in the area visiting during the day. My grandparents were also staying at the house and they have mobility problems. The house was perfect in every way. The first floor was perfectly laid out with a bedroom and bathroom for my grandparents, and open common areas that made it easy for us to gather for meals, including a big patio set up with a big table, lounge chairs, and umbrellas. We spent a lot of happy hours out on that patio with the amazing view. The bedrooms were all comfortable, well furnished, with all the supplies that we needed. I especially appreciated all the little details, such as hand soap in all the bathrooms, a little table and chairs in the living room for toddlers, a walk-in pantry with all the kitchen appliances we needed, plenty of dishes and cups, plenty of towels in the cabinets (even beach towels), and candleholders (with candles in them) on the patio.
One thing to note is that one of the bedrooms has bunk beds. The upper bunk is best for a child; it did not feel stable enough for an adult.
This is also a wonderful area to stay in. It's pretty far from downtown LA, so I definitely recommend staying here and not leaving this general area if you don't need to. There are plenty of beautiful beaches in the area, including the ones on either side of the Ritz.
Our family of 10 spent a wonderful week at Villa Buena Vista. The house had everything we could need, from kitchen equipment to crib for baby to beach towels and sand toys. There was plenty of room to sleep, eat, play games and hang out. An added plus were the panoramic views from the patio where we could enjoy both sunrises and sunsets. Great location and very accommodating host!
