Jamaica Villa Rental Photos and Description

4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, sleeps 11 on 2 floors, 15 on 3

OCHO RIOS AREA VACATION VILLA Your own private beach rental for a couple seeking privacy or an extended family wanting to stay together on the beautiful Caribbean Sea - on just about any vacation budget. There simply is no better way to experience Jamaica at its best - meeting the people who make it so.

CHOICES:

Doctors Villa offers choices for your vacation with the emphasis on safety, relaxation, and fun. With two seaside patios, 4 bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, living room, and 3 dining areas inside and out, you have plenty of space on two floors even before you head out to the hammock on the seaside terrace or down the steps to our 300 ft. sandy beach. John's the caretaker/security man, and together with the optional services of Paulette - cook, housekeeper & babysitter - Leona's therapeutic massage, and drivers Duncan or Deano, you have the choice of all the pampering you may want. It's the attention of our people that makes us unique - our people, and our location on the sea. Opt for a driver to come for you or rent your own vehicle for the easy drive from MBJ.

EASE OF ARRIVAL:

Know that when you get there, your previously selected arrival meal will be ready and the kitchen will be stocked with cold drinks and groceries for breakfast the next day so you needn't stop en route. You just get there and don't even worry about paying for the groceries until you've changed your money for Jamaican dollars the next day. Drop your bags and go straight down the steps for a swim in the sea, rinse off in the outdoor shower and you're ready for a Red Stripe or a coconut rum with pineapple juice - Ting for the kids - knowing dinner awaits.

SPENDING YOUR TIME AT HOME:

You'll quickly come to love Paulette's tasty dishes and possibly decide you'd rather not be in the kitchen at all. Experience the mellow smoothness of Blue Mountain Coffee, fresh-squeezed OJ and a morning swim in the warm, clear waters of the Caribbean - on your schedule. Snorkelers will be amazed at the colorful corals and fish on the 2nd largest reef system in the world, just a 15-minute swim from the beach. Treat yourself to a therapeutic massage within the sound of the waves on the upper seaside patio, relax in the hammock with a Red Stripe and plan your daily excursions, or don't. Alternatively, take advantage of the opportunity to save money by booking the place as 'room only' and take care of your own cooking and housekeeping, with Paulette just a phone call away in case you change your mind. Go to the market, join in a street dance or walk to the shops at the end of the road for ice cream, beer, groceries, walk a little further up the hill to the area jerk center, meet the people - they may surprise you with their helpful, friendly welcome natures. Chances are, they know Doctor's family, John or Paulette and are pleased to show Doctors Villa guests how special they are, how safe the neighborhood, how easy it is to take a local 'taxi' into town.

WHAT WE OFFER:

Amenities include our own 300' sandy beach with sun and shade options, internet, Wi-Fi, hammock, charcoal bbq, DVD's, books, board games, a locked/gated driveway with parking for 6, and sea views that can't be beat. It's like coming home, only better!

WHAT'S NEARBY:

Our nearest city, Ocho Rios, is 14 miles west of the villa, and offers everything a tourist town should: tropical gardens, restaurants, craft markets, duty free shopping, cinemas, swim with dolphins, Mystic Mountain's zip lines and Jamaican Bobsled run, and the stunning and climbable Dunn's River Falls - still the #1 reason why visitors 'make it Jamaica'. Also in the area is an 18-hole golf course, downhill mountain biking, horseback riding on the beach, Prospect Plantation with its historical jitney tours, Rio Nuevo's coastal gun emplacements, exciting Blue Hole, Fern Gully, catch-and-eat fish farming, public Bamboo, Groovy and James Bond beaches, Water Land, Calypso Rafting, and peaceful White River inner-tubing. The farmer's markets in Ocho Rios and Oracabessa are worth a visit whether shopping for the evening's meal or just taking interesting photos.

OUR NEIGHBORS:

Sharing the Caribbean Riviera shoreline with Beaches Ocho Rios, guests at Doctors Villa can participate in the resort's offerings at an additional cost if chlorine is needed ($100/day/adult, $50-75/kids, 10 am - 6 pm).

JAMAICA, mon:

So much to see and do in this, one of the largest and arguably most beautiful of the Caribbean Islands. The tropical year-round climate is softened with sea breezes, early morning showers, and happy smiling Jamaican faces. Make Doctors Villa your north coast home base but drive around and check out other parts of the island as well. Negril on the West coast has the renowned sunsets of Rick's Cafe; the lush tranquility of Port Antonio on the East coast is often overlooked by tourists but a favorite for Jamaicans in the know; and the exciting and beautiful up & coming areas around Black River and Treasure Beach on the South coast are not as easy to access but worth every pothole. There's something for everyone which keeps so many of us foreign yardies - Jamaicans living abroad - and others returning to this island paradise whenever we can.

About Mia Forbes

One of 'Doctor's' 9 children, we left Jamaica when I was 3 mos. old and emigrated to Canada. Some of us make it a mission to get back there every chance we get, and I've decided to move back when my kids are grown. The air, the sea, the beautiful spirit of the place and its people has called to me more than any of the other 33 countries I've lived in or visited. This is one foreign yardie who's working to get back to di yard. Someday.

Mia Forbes purchased this villa in 1984

Why Mia Forbes chose Jamaica

Dad bought this house on the sea for Mom who rarely stays up in her 3rd floor Family Suite bedroom as she has a sister in Kingston and a brother in Ocho Rios, but still loves it when it's full of her big family the way it was intended. The view is awesome and the addition of the top floor makes it possible to have many of her 9 children and 16 grandchildren there at once. It also provides extra space for particularly big groups or an economical alternative for smaller parties, or when the 2-story villa is occupied.

What makes this villa unique

The view of the sea is simply awesome, from every bedroom and especially from the open seaside patios and the roof deck. Those areas are what made this place a must-have, and together with the beach are where we spend all our time when visiting - guests, too. Having the option of Paulette and John there to take care of us is the topping on a wonderfully easy vacation cake.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Mia,

Boy have I missed you and your beautiful home. I wanted to give you a heads up that one of my friends is going to contact you about renting your house in the summer. I told her I think it is a magical place! I have some great news to share with you.

My oldest daughter and her husband have been trying to have a baby for 2 years!! When all of the kids left your house I went through and was taking pictures of everything. When I got to her room I saw they had the playpen set up in there. I had so many emotions seeing this in their room and not my other daughters who do have children. I was talking to Paulette and started to cry (yes, I cried on vacation – totally not acceptable);) and we talked and she shared some things with me. I asked Paulette to pray for them and – WOW – she must have some great contacts with God!! One month later my daughter finds out she is pregnant!! Not with one baby but with twins!! God has blessed them doubly! My heart is about to burst!!!

I believe we had such a relaxed and happy time at Doctors Villa and it helped so many dreams come true! I dream of the day we can all return. Thank you again and I pray this has been a great year for your family as well.

Love,

Hospitality Unwavered

  • 5 of 5

From the first inquiry to arrival; Mia was exceptional...she answered all my questions and was more helpful and informing than any travel agent! The property was exactly as she stated and her advice and guidance was much neede and well received. Our annual couples retreat was better than any other! From the inviting Carribean breeze, the sunkissed warm rays to the enchanting calmness of the ocean; it was more than we ever could have asked for. John was an absolute superhero, sometimes just appearing out of thin air; RIGHT when you needed him. Paulette went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and even battled with the washer to make sure that halfway thru our stay we could have fresh linen..We laughed at how loud the machine was and pondered over life as she worked so diligently to keep us happy...I promised her I would tell Mia to get with me so I could help her get her a new machine with my Whirlpool connections😂򐠽򐨂😂򐠊

I say all that to say that while the villa is known as Doctor's Villa, it really should be known as 'Hospitality Unwavered'...they made our journey to Jamaica the most worthwhile!

Owner's Response: So happy to hear your five couples enjoyed five bedrooms of our two combined beachside units. You had awesome weather too, which is why April is usually my favorite month in JA. The old washing machine is an embarrassment. A year ago Paulette put aside the money to replace it but she doesn't want to do it as long as there's still life in the old girl. Maybe it's now! I appreciate you taking the time to let me know.

Thank you Mia......Just what the Doctor ordered

  • 5 of 5

Our two week stay at Doctor's Villa was awesome! Doctor's villa is beautiful, the location couldn't be better. We did not experience any noise from Beaches at all.

Paulette and John both amazing cooks. We are still talking about Paulette's stew and pork roast...WOW. We enjoyed the fresh lobster that John arranged. We did make it to Tommy's for jerk chicken and and a few beers. Excellent food, Tommy is a great guy sat and had a drink with us, good suggestions of where to go (again) and new things to see and experience.

Paulette and John are genuine people both so friendly, helpful and nice. We enjoyed meeting some of John's family.

Birthday cakes were perfect! Traditional Jamaican Rum cake is a must!!!

The villa is HUGE, neat and clean with all the necessities. The private beach was beautiful....nice to have it to ourselves. The vendors on the beach next to Beaches resort were friendly and left us to ourselves with no bother. The guard dogs Ringo and Georgie very friendly to us and are great at their jobs of keeping the Villa and beach safe.

Again, thank you for everything, and sharing your little piece of paradise with us, we really appreciate it. We will definitely recommend your place as a destination to our friends and family.

Thank you Mia...just what the Doctor ordered

A True Home Away!

  • 5 of 5

My family and friends enjoyed two weeks of island bliss at Doctors Villa. Over the course of the two weeks there were several of us ranging in ages from 8 years old to 56 years old.

The villa met all of our needs...younger and older. Often rentals don't live up to the hype. That being said - We were thrilled...the villa is as described! The scenery from the back of the villa/beach is a true island vibe. There was room for all of us - to be together and to be apart. We spent most of our time in the outdoor spaces (patios on both floors). There are some things that might enhance the property...such as a updated appliances, more secure screen doors on the glass sliding doors, an additional refrigerator (for larger parties), an intercom or bell at the front gate. Otherwise, the rooms provide ample space, the bathrooms were clean, closets had enough room for travel items. The property was secure (wall and gate). We did not utilize the air-conditioning, multiple fans in all rooms and the ocean breeze were sufficient to keep us cool and comfortable. It is the islands so sunscreen and insect repellant are a must have. Direct access to the beach was a dream...whether for a swim, yoga or a contemplative moment it was like an extra "room" or place to be relax. The proximity to Beaches did not detract from our vacation, rather hearing the music in the evenings was quite nice. We enjoyed our stay, some days we did excursions and others were spent entirely at the villa.

If you have questions...Ask them! Mia is extremely responsive and informative. Feel free to share your plans and expectations with her - she is timely, forthcoming and considers your needs/wants in suggesting excursions, activities, general and island specific information.

Both Paulette and John are also a pleasure. They are both willing to assist where they can. In addition to coming for housecleaning, Paulette is an excellent cook. We thoroughly enjoyed her oxtail with rice and peas, ackee and salt fish, dumplings, callaloo, curry chicken and brownstew chicken. John maintains the grounds and is also a wiz at the grill. He not only made wonderful jerk chicken, but also grilled lobster and fish for us on several evenings. Both he and Paulette had a wealth of knowledge about Ocho Rios and the surrounding area. They are also good conversationalists and bonded well with all in our party.

Having a direct connection to Deano for airport transfers (and excursions if needed) was also very helpful.

The best Caribbean vacation ever!

  • 5 of 5

Out time at the the Villa was the best part of the trip. After long days out and about, it was great to head back home to our private rental on the beach. It was cozy and comfortable. The staff was most friendly and accommodating. We couldn't get enough of the sunrise and sunset. The view was special.

What more could you as for except maybe another week!! Cant wait to go back.

Thx Mia, Paulette and John.

Wonderful family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Dr. Villa is truly an amazing place to stay. We stayed at Dr. Villa and we had a exceptional time. The home is fully furnished and equipped with all the necessities of a home. The home has an open spacious floor plan with beautiful ocean views in every room! We stayed at Dr. Villa and had an exceptional time. The property was exactly as described: clean, spacious, beautiful and secluded which was exactly what we were looking for! The view on the 2nd floor balcony is beautiful.

Mia was helpful and very easy to work with. She is quick to respond to emails. Paulette was very accommodating and helpful as well and she made certain that we had everything we need.

We admire John dedication to his job and his efforts in making our stay more enjoyable. He wakes up early every morning and cleans up the beach as well as the property. His jerk chicken was really delicious!! My family and I had the perfect week at Dr. Villa. It was a pleasure doing business with Mia and we are looking forward to our next stay!

Beach Paradise in the Country

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at Doctor's Villa a week ago. Our holiday was wonderful! The property is beautiful. The pictures were on target. The fans and the sea breeze kept the climate in the home comfortable. Originally we were a bit in dismay to find out, upon our arrival, that there was no internet nor cable available. After the first day, we did not sweat not having access, although it would have been nice! We spent time talking, laughing, thinking, and just breathing, which is better than time spent on the internet! Mia, Ms. Paulette, and John were gems! Ringo and George (resident dogs) were sweeties. We enjoyed every moment! Jamaica is my second home and this stay reinforced why I love it so much. Looking forward to my return. Soon come...Thank you for sharing your beautiful villa Mia! Bless. Diona

Owner's Response: What a beautiful image, and it wasn't even a family group, but 4 women friends. I was so sorry (and frustrated) that the LIME cable in the area went out just before you arrived and our wonderfully fast Wifi was unavailable. Latest reports are it SHOULD be restored within a week, but good old LIME says, "Soon come, any day now" when we ask WHEN!!?!? It's simply lovely to know that good times can be had in the old school way, and it can make the connection with those nearby even be better than being connected to those not there. Thanks for taking the time to write.
