About the property

The Aloha AKU Hula Suite sits closest to the La’ie wetlands. Enter through your private door and enjoy the soothing colors and local art commemorating the Hula tradition of Hawaii. Done in Hula skirt green you can almost feel the locals dancing. Drop your bags, put on some Hawaiian music, and kick-back and begin your amazing stay. Pull open the glass slider and step onto your private lanai. Sit down and enjoy the ocean view across the beautiful grassy area or maybe grab a glass of wine and head down toward the beach for a sunset experience. Maui is calling you.

Blessed by Kaunas, Aloha Aku means the place that ‘gives love and kindness’. Formally known as Aikane Hale.

AlohaAKU Inn & Suites is a tucked away, one-of-a-kind vacation gem. Our luxury Beachfront estate has 4 beachfront one-bedroom suites and a garden view two-bedroom ohana. Each suite has a private entrance, separate living room, full kitchen and is like having your own condo at the beach in Maui. This special place is hidden behind a private, double gated entrance, lined with 700 ft of lighted coconut palms that lure you into the feeling of leaving the world behind. But is still centrally placed in Kihei nearly all of the amenities you might desire.

Guests have described Aloha Aku as ‘the most tranquil and ultimate place for relaxation!' You can’t help but feel the peacefulness of Maui's beauty wash over you here. The beach out front of Aloha Aku is only accessible from Aloha Aku or the private neighboring homes and condos. As a result the beach is underused and hardly traveled. Sometimes it's like having your own private beach.

Hidden behind the tallest mangrove forest in the state, Aloha Aku will pleasantly greet you with an extravaganza of natural Hawaiian beauty. Aloha Aku lulls you into a wondrous state of being, yet is in the ultimate location for access to the many conveniences in mid-Kihei. Aloha Aku is well situated to be your base of operations to explore the rest of the Maui island, just twenty minutes from the airport and are within easy walking distance of nearby groceries, shopping, pupu bars(appetizers), dozens of eateries, bars, car rentals, dive shops, and much more. When guests return to the property they say it ‘feels like home’. Some never leave the property during their visit, happy to just lounge around and suntan from their private lanai or on the beach out front!

Your hosts, Charlene (Maui-girl) and Gary (G-kane) (pronounced ka-nay), have upgraded all the Suites to include air conditioning, ceiling fans, free high speed Wi-Fi, free designated on property parking, key codes for everything (no keys or cards to worry about), flat screen HD TV's with DirecTV in the living room and in the separate bedrooms. Warm up a snack or make yourself a full meal in your Suite's fully equipped kitchen. Take a cool dip in the ili-ili (smooth) stone dipping pools or take an invigorating Jacuzzi while watching the stunning sunsets. In addition there is a gas barbeque on site nestled between some acacia palm trees overlooking the State protected La'ie wetlands.

We can’t wait to host you and see your happy faces and hope that you find that Aloha Aku has the intimacy, amenities, and aloha to be your favorite luxury getaway. Maui is considered one of top vacation destinations in the world and after staying at Aloha Aku we are confident that you will have your own special reasons why!

About Charlene and Gary

Aloha from Charlene and Gary.

A little about us.

Char was raised on Maui just a few miles up the beach from Aloha AKU and went to grade school and to St. Anthony’s High School on Maui. Her family also lives here on the island so she and they have seen a lot of changes on Maui over the years. After high school Char left for College at Santa Clara University and majored in TV Production and French. After College she moved the LA and began a carrier in the Entertainment Industry doing everything from modeling to acting and from Producing, Directing and Writing to finally running Production and Entertainment companies.

Ok, so she played Hollywood. Gary has also had a good life having lived in many parts of the country having followed a very successful career in High Tech. He has been a key contributor to Ethernet, Computer analyzed EKG systems, founded a start up Telecommunications product company in Silicon Valley, and ran a $70M per year high tech company in LA. He has always seen himself living on an island and meeting Char 20 years ago was just the ticket to get him to Maui.

So a few years ago this LA couple decided that the time had come to leave the Merry-go-round of their respective businesses and buy a place on Maui and “come home”. So here they are, living the “maui life” as active members of the local community and on many non-profit boards and are supporting many worthy causes. And they decided to create Aloha AKU Inn & Suites and offer a fun, laid back Maui beach experience to fun, laid back and interesting people.

Please join us and enjoy MAUI !

The location of AlohaAku is great, very central, but not busy.We love the privacy of the gated entry

Really nice to meet Linda when we arrived, she gave us the tour of the property and all the amenities that we can access. The beach is gorgeous, and it feels very secluded because it not so busy, which is perfect for us. Our suite is very nice, large open space to the kitchen and livingroom. The bedroom is also open to the wash stand counter. Love the granite counters in the kitchen and bathroom, and the travetine tiles in the shower. Only things we would recommend are, there need to be extra shelf in the shower, the towel hanger could be lower by a foot. I'm at 5ft height, I couldn't reach the hook to hang the towel or the shelf that are there. Also we have trouble controlling the lever for the shower temperature, if we turn just a bit, it too cold, if we turn too far, it too hot. It also nice if there no pony wall that jug out, instead add a glass door. It will definitely make the shower bigger and easier for sharing. We'll definitely like to come back to AlohaAku again. Charlene are great over the phone when we booked our accommodation, and thank you for the little welcome snacks on the counter and in the fridge, as well as the laundry samples soap from Go Green.

The Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at AlohaAku for 12 days in Sept 2017. It was the most relaxing and beautiful vacation we have ever had. We arrived at night, so when we awoke in the morning and opened our curtain, we were stunned. It was more beautiful than we could imagine, and then we stepped out to the lanai... the sounds of birds and ocean waves washed over us.

The next week was just perfect, the room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. We had everything we needed and more, to feel at home. 50 feet to the beach, all of the amenities and ocean equipment, available on site. We spent hours just sitting on the lanai or on the beach soaking in the solitude.

Gary and Char are the perfect hosts and work tirelessly to make sure your stay will be beyond perfect. The property is conveniently located to everything, but totally secluded.

We cannot wait to come back to this perfect oasis.

What an amazing property!

  • 5 of 5

The owners and everyone who works there takes great pride in ownership and care of the property! The place is immaculate and has any extra someone staying may need! From beach chairs, boogie boards, board games, lawn games, paddle boards, kayaks, even candles for the table on the lanai! They really go above and beyond to make you feel like you're staying with family! They even stock the fridge with continental breakfast items and homemade banana or mango bread (which was delicious)! The residence is fully gated and is a minute walk to the beach! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back and staying at the Aloha Aku! Mahalo!

Great location, property and more!

  • 5 of 5

I am so happy we decided to stay at Aloha AKU. We stayed in the Hula Suite and had view of the beach and ocean as well as the river that leads to the ocean. There was so much wildlife including birds, ducks, frogs, and fresh water turtles. The grounds include 2 small pools and a full size hot tub, direct access to the beach, a palm tree lined driveway and a very large lawn area. All were very well maintained.

The condo itself was very clean and kept up nicely. The main area in the complex has everything you could possibly need for your stay including bug spray, toiletries, beach towels, board games and a daily continental breakfast. Upon check out I was informed I didn't need to clean anything, they would take care of it. These little touches made it feel as if I was staying at a hotel instead of a vacation rental. If I stay in Kihei on my next visit to Maui, I will absolutely return to Aloha Aku!

Our Piece of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We completed our stay at Aloha AKU on February 22, 2017. We found the Hula Suite a "Piece of Paradise". The location was close to a shopping center and busy street , but you did not know it by the sheltered, serene and beautiful landscape of this property. We were thrilled with the closeness of the ocean and the plush green yard surrounding the complex. The palm trees lining the driveway and the yard along with the pond next door was an inviting addition. The slightly traveled beach was wonderful for walking, fishing, wave chasing and whale & turtle watching. We enjoyed each sunset from our Lanai while taking many pictures. Our Hosts and Crew were welcoming and provided excellent service. Delicious continental breakfasts were available each morning. The Hula Suite was pristine and very comfortable. Parking was easy. This was our 5th visit to Maui and we agree that AlohAKU Hula Suite was the best condo we have stayed in. We plan to stay here again when we return to Maui.

Perfect location, beautiful accomodations

  • 5 of 5

We traveled with our teen-age/adult daughters and rented both the Hula and Honu suites. They have a connecting door, which was super convenient. Both suites really could have accommodated all 4 of us, but it was so much nicer having room to spread out and not have to trip over our daughters' messes in our room :) The location itself is super convenient, in Kihei walking distance to a shopping centre with restaurants, coffee shops, and services (B&B Scuba). Within a short drive is the main busy section of Kihei where more restaurants, public beaches and other services are. We really enjoyed being away from the crowds on the public beach, and this semi-private beach is wonderful. No crowds, beautiful sand and a few shade trees too. Char & Gary provide everything you could need. The rooms have all that you would expect in a condo, including fans, a/c, coffee, kitchen appliances, etc. comfortable beds, futons, breakfast foods, TV with movie channels, netflix, etc. They also have paddle boards, boogie boards, kayaks, life jackets, water shoes, umbrellas, beach chairs, beach mats, coolers, etc. They truly have thought of everything. The small pool is perfect, great to dip in and cool off but not a 'play pool' for children... which is nice when you are past that stage in life. Hot tub/spa was also a great evening treat. The lanai faces the ocean, and is a great spot to sit for amazing sunsets each evening. It is quiet, comfortable and we felt so spoiled to have the wonderful location for 7 glorious days. A piece of heaven, and thank goodness they rent these condos out and share this spot with others.
