Everything you would need was provided.Lot's of room as there was 10 of us.We all had our separate rooms and gather in common area and large kitchen.Pool is awesome with great deck and views of ocean. You can hear waves crashing on the rocks. We would stay there again.
We were fine without the air conditioning. There are ceiling fans and one of the nicest private pools I have ever seen. Very nice home in quiet neighborhood.
Very nice house for a large family gathering. Celebrated our Mother's 80th birthday and it was perfect for a party of 12. The 5 bedroom areas with their own bathrooms is a great benefit this house holds. A large living room area and large dining room table makes it nice for family gatherings. The pool was a hit with our granddaughter who was only out of the pool to sleep, it seemed. A nice view of the ocean in the morning and evening was a great way to start and end the day. The owner had to replace a curtain in one of the bedrooms and even brought over another new fan. The house is not air conditioned like most houses on the island do not have a/c and we happened to get some of the hottest days while we were there. They have ceiling fans for every room, which made it bearable, and a nice dip before bedtime helps to make you comfortable. As mentioned in another review, it is a little worn but the owner advised they are fixing things up when some vacancies occur. Beware of the flying roaches that love the island everywhere you go, they seem to find any opening and will greet you in the middle of the night so sitting out after dark is not recommended.
This was an awesome house! Great for a group of people to come and stay. The house had everything we needed the pool was incredible and the views were breath taking! Would definitely stay again!
Our group of 8 had a wonderful week long stay! The home is beautiful and located only 2 blocks from the beach. The beds were all comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed to create many delicious meals! We contacted Zac once, and he immediately took care of our need. The carpet that others have said was worn is being replaced this month. Beautiful artwork on the walls were painted by the owner. The only reason we didn't give our stay a five is because we didn't notice that the home didn't have air conditioning (they have other properties that do) and September is a VERY hot, humid month, so sleeping was difficult. All rooms do have ceiling fans and free standing fans...I would suggest each bathroom also have a small fan. Loved Kona!!! Very good location!!! Thank you Zac!!!
First of all, when we were less than 2 weeks out from our stay, I had heard nothing form Zackory Smith regarding our check in procedures. I did not get those until I emailed him and asked for them.
Upon my brother and his family arriving at 5:30pm to check in (check in was listed as 3:00), the front door was locked (check in stated that it would be unlocked and the key on the mantel). He went around to the side of the house and found an unlocked door. The house had not been cleaned since the previous renters had left 31 hours prior. There was food still in the fridge, dishes in the sink and the laundry room full of linens and towels - among all the other "filth" of having been lived in. My brother called Zac, I called Zac and left a message - no response. I finally found his email address and emailed him. He did respond to the email within about 15 minutes. He apologized and said there had been a miscommunication between him and his cleaning lady and she would be there in 10 minutes to clean the house. Meanwhile, my brother had just spent $500 at Costco and needed to put the groceries in the refrigerator. So he cleaned out the fridge, and put the food away. The cleaning lady finally did show up - but it was 45 minutes later, not 10. So he and his family left to get dinner and come back later. (There's $250 of unexpected expenses since they had planned on cooking dinner at the house that night and having it ready for when my family got there). My family arrived in Kona around 8:00pm and met my brother at the house at 8:30pm. By that time, the house was actually clean and ready for us.
The trash was supposed to be taken out by Zac on Fridays and Mondays. We were there Wednesday through Wednesday and still had the same full, smelly trash in the garage the day we left as we did when we got there.
There are rotten mangoes on the north side of the house from a beautiful mango tree. They smelled so bad you couldn't open any windows on that side of the house, nor swim in that side of the pool.
The house appears to be "settling" towards the west/ocean. And the decks slant in that direction. Is that safe??
The house itself was large and fit our needs well. The view was nice, but included telephone poles and wires.
There are loose tiles through out the house and the carpet has holes in it from wear.
All of these things individually could be over looked, but collectively led to a very disappointing experience.
