Carol purchased this studio in 1998
Old College friends bought this property for me and held it until I could pay for it. A great 'drinking story' if guests are ever really interested in hearing this one!
This house is in a residential setting but so very close to local micro-breweries, Fort Worden, golf course and more. The view of the bay is mesmerizing. Lots of Bambi's abound.
I had a lovely stay: the place was so homey and Carol has gone to great efforts to ensure everything you'll need is right there. She is very welcoming, makes you feel at home, she shows you how everything works (including the hot tub) and then let's you have your privacy. Very recommended.
Carol has thought of everything you might need. The hideaway is thoughtfully appointed with a giant deck from which you can watch deer, birds, the stars or the water. The gardens are lovely and you can catch up on your reading in the hammock under the trees.
We had a great visit!
This was a sweet place. Carol was easy going, attentive and a great communicator making the entire process so smooth.
The place was just like the pictures. To describe I would say quality and attention to details. Well stocked kitchen, (complete with welcoming treats!) neat clean and comfortable sitting area, great bed, nice bathroom, great deck with a lovely view, entire place maintained with attention to small details. Great hot tub and gardens. Just have to see for yourself!!!
I really enjoyed my stay at Carol's cottage. I was in Port Townsend on a business trip for The Food Co-op and the cottage was perfect for a business traveler. The wireless internet access was excellent for work (and I was even able to stream Netflix without any problems). The cottage and the entire property was clean and well-maintained. And the kitchen was well-equipped with everything I needed (including a blender that Carol took from her house and let me use during my stay) and Carol even provided me with fresh fruit from The Food Co-op. The location of her cottage is within walking distance of downtown and uptown Port Townsend, the Ferry Terminal, the boat dock, and two grocery stores (including The Food Co-op). I will definitely stay at this cottage again if my travels bring me back to Port Townsend and I highly recommend that anyone travelling to Port Townsend stay at Carol's cottage, not only for its convenience to downtown, but also its "home-like" ambiance.
This sweet place is truly the perfect "Hide-Away". Carol, the host, is beyond gracious and has thought of every little thing to make a stay welcoming and leave you feeling pampered. The grounds are wonderful and private. The hot tub (and cottage) immaculate and oh so comfy and cozy. Location is great- just a 7 minute drive to Northbeach and all the charms of Port Townsend. We can't wait to return!
This was such a great place to stay for our 35th wedding anniversary. The gardens around the cottage are stunning. The back yard has several sitting areas to sit out and visit with friends. The cottage is just a short drive to Old Port Townsend. The hot tub was relaxing in the evening after a day out and about. Carol was very generous and accommodating of our arrival time and departure. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely check to see if Holcomb Hideaway is available.
Local Wineries, Farmers Market on Sat and Wed Weekly, Many Festivals at Fort Worden State Park through Centrum.org, Quilcene Concerts in the Barn Series, many local poets, writers, playwrights, and musicians. Breathtaking views of the Straits of Juan de Fuca and the Salish Sea. Glass Beach is a great shore side hike for shelling and collecting glass pieces hewn by the ocean.
