Overview

About the property

1 huge bedroom, 1 full bath, sleeps 2 (3 with couch)

Just recently we sold our lovely vacation rental and home which is located on the same 5 acre property. The new owner, April Gillette, has constructed a new site on VRBO and Home Away for the cottage, Mt. Pleasant Garden View Ranch Cottage, Property #976671. We invite you to please book all reservations through her site since we no longer are the owners. All furnishings, kitchen ware and linens were conveyed in the transaction, so those who may be returning for another visit will find the cottage as it was. April is a seasoned vacation rental owner and will run the cottage in the same 5 star fashion we strived to maintain.

The cottage is located on five peaceful acres on the side of Mt. Pleasant which offers breathtaking views of the Strait of San Juan de Fuca, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, the San Juan Islands, Mt. Baker and the Cascade mountain range. When guests share their comments, 'paradise' is the word most often used to describe the cottage and its setting. You will find the one bedroom, one bath 850 square foot cottage elegantly, yet comfortably decorated.

The kitchen is complete with range, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. The cottage is furnished with a 32' TV, Wave Cable with HDR and VCR-DVD Combo. Also in the cottage is a washer-dryer (soap provided), and High Speed Internet with WIFI. The bath is a tub/shower and the bed is queen size. We provide luxury linens and towels, dishes, cookware, shampoo, soaps, complimentary coffee, teas, spices, and cooking oils. Also included are complimentary paper goods such as paper towels, napkins and toilet tissue. Should you choose to BBQ, we also provide a grill.

Enjoy your morning coffee or evening wine sitting on the deck while taking in the view. Should you decide to stay in for the evening, enjoy a movie from the selection of DVDs furnish for your pleasure. Also included are guide books for national park and forest.

Vegetable gardens are next to the cottage and guests are welcome to fruits and vegetables that happen to be in season.

Perfect!

We stayed for a week and wish we could have stayed longer! The cottage is so very comfortable, the views amazing, the kitchen well-appointed, and the gardens and grounds just beautiful. On the morning of our first night we got up to view the sunrise over the Strait and Mt. Baker (stunning), made breakfast, and headed to the Olympic National Park visitor's center where we were given several suggestions about what to see and do over the course of the week. That day, proved nice and sunny and we hiked Mt. Storm King getting excellent views over Crescent Lake, and, a bit further up the trail near the summit, the mountain range to our south and east. We made it out to Lake Ozette, hiked the Ozette trail to the beach, visited the sea stacks, saw a bald eagle while eating our picnic lunch. On the way home, we stopped by the mouth of the Elwa to do some more bird watching. The next day, we hiked into the Hoh Rain Forest where we saw a herd of elk. We made it to Port Townsend (very cute town!), and hiked the Dungeness Spit on the way home. We also made it into Port Angeles quite a few times, for food and for the views of the harbor. Those are just some of the many outings!

We ate almost every dinner at the cottage. We love to cook and found some great local fish, and we just felt the view from the cottage could not be better. Those evenings, as we cooked, we watched the setting sun over the Strait, and we found that to be fine entertainment. We had always wanted to visit the Olympic Peninsula, and this cottage with its fantastic location most everything was wonderful! We hope to return to hike some of the higher mountains and/or to ski. This cottage is a gem!

Can't wait to go back!

This cozy, comfortable, well-stocked cottage was perfect for a long holiday weekend. We were fortunate to have snow while we were there which was so fun to watch from the beautiful picture window. The view is absolutely amazing. This home has lots of thoughtful touches and just about any convenience you could imagine. The furnishings, linens, and kitchenware were all high quality. The owner (and her cousin) were super responsive and ready for any question or request we might have. Within moments of arriving, we were already planning our return. This place is a winner!

Absolutely perfect!

Our visit to 60 Scenic View Lane was absolutely wonderful. The cottage is as described in all the pictures. There is nothing that we felt like was missing. The initial impression when entering the front door was a feeling of being home. You have an expectation after seeing pictures of where you are going, you hang on to those expectations and hope you aren't disappointed. We weren't disappointed in any way. The view is to die for, ever changing, sea traffic, weather, simply stunning views. The kitchen is well equipped, we ate most meals in, found we were lacking for nothing. The bed is like sleeping on a cloud, most days we slept in and felt really good about it. Since we were at the cottage over Thanksgiving, we were expecting weather, and wet was what we received. When the sun did make an appearance, it was wonderful. Highly recommended. 7 stars.

Perfect finish to our trip.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this wonderful cottage at the end of a month long trip to the Pacific Northwest. It was the grand finale. It is located on the side of Mt. Pleasant facing a fabulous view of Victoria across the Strait. It is very quiet and peaceful. We appreciated the great deal of work Ginny and Roger put into the cottage to make it private and luxuriously comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked and the bath had all the amenities you expect at a 4 star hotel. The queen bed was cozy and the room very spacious. The decks were a great addition to overlook the pasture with grazing deer. The washer and dryer were handy since it rained a lot. Even that did not dampen our enthusiasm for this place. It is very special.

The cottage is now the best place we have ever stayed at thru VRBO.We loved it and will try to come back again.

Car: recommended

Our location is ideal for those who want to take advantage of the Olympic National Park. Our central location makes for easy access to hiking trails and beautiful park features such as the Lake Crescent Lodge, Marymere Falls and Sol Duc Falls west of Port Angeles. East of us at an equal distance are more trails into the park and the national forest. For those who are interested in traveling to Victoria, B.C., the ferry service is a 20 minute drive from the cottage. Grocery stores, restaurants and movie theaters are within a 15 minute drive of the cottage.
