About Wendy Carroll
My husband and I are seasoned world-travelers. Our company focuses on international business and we have traveled all corners of the world for years. Our "happy place" for the last fourteen years has been our visits to the charming town of San Miguel de Allende. We love the ambiance, the pace, the history, the pageantry and so much more. We find the people that San Miguel attracts both interesting and interested. We love our many Mexican friends who help to make San Miguel the town it is.
Wendy Carroll purchased this House in 2015
Why Wendy Carroll chose Zona Centro
We fell in love with "Casa Dulcinea" and her extraordinary views - the moment we saw her. We think that our casa is located on one of the nicest streets in town - it is a hidden gem on a secluded cobblestone street. We bought our home in November of 2015 and immediately went to work renovating and refurbishing the house, its furnishings and gardens. Our remodel was extensive. Casa Dulcinea needed updating and love. And that is just what we did. Look for pictures of the transformation in the Casa Dulcinea notebook.
What makes this House unique
Casa Dulcinea is in a prime location in San Miguel. It is a lovely 15 minute walk to the heart of the town - and the hustle and bustle. Yet your retreat to Casa Dulcinea promises quiet, lovely seclusion, a lush garden and exquisite views. Our home is located in a local neighborhood - with many interesting San Miguelians and ex-patriates. We have a great team of people who will make sure your stay at Casa Dulcinea is absolutely wonderful. Our maids - Rosa and Angela - will clean the casa and change the linens twice a week. We also have Beto who looks after the gardens and keeps the rooftop and patios pristine. We are happy to arrange extra hours for a nominal fee. We also offer meal preparation and will stock the refrigerator and pantry. We share a fabulous chef with some offer properties. Let Mario cook for you - a quiet night at home or a wonderful party at Casa Dulcinea.

Casa Dulcinea is a fabulous property. Beautiful views of the San Miguel centro, great art, yummy beds--you cannot lose booking this wonderful home. The owner, Wendy Carroll, is responsive and so helpful, sending restaurant and activity suggestions as well as assisting us in connecting with a great tour company for not only airport transport, but a city walking tour and day tip to the Monarch sanctuary in Michoacán, she is the essence of a great host.
Our group of friends enjoyed every minute of our trip to SMA. Casa Dulcinea is a 10-15 minute walk to the downtown area where the heart and soul of San Miguel is located. The churches, shops, restaurants and museums are easily accessible on foot. One word of caution, this 300 year old colonial city is paved in cobblestone. Wear sensible shoes or Uber because these narrow cobblestone streets are part of the beauty and charm of the city.
We all agreed that we would return in a heartbeat. Hopefully our next trip happens soon. The city and Casa Dulcinea are already calling us back.
Don't miss this wonderful property and people. Five stars!!!!
Muchas gracias, Beth. We enjoyed having you stay at Casa Dulcinea. Please come back and stay with us again.
We enjoyed our visit to SMA and this lovely home. Our host, Wendy did a great job preparing us in advance of our trip. The property management team was first rate, friendly and extremely efficient for the duration of our trip. We did take advantage of the onsite chefs for 2 evenings and the food was authentic, plentiful and a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Jose makes a great margarita as well. The photos on the web site don't do justice to how beautiful the facilities are at Casa Dulcinea. The home sits on a relatively small foot print but there are a number of nooks with beautiful gardens and there is ample room for both socializing as well as solitude. We had a wonderful visit with friends - there were 5 of us and we all felt very comfortable with our king size beds and private bathroom. It had been 50 years since I had been to San Miguel de Allende and I don't remember the city being quite as beautiful or clean as I saw on this visit, wear your comfortable shoes - the cobblestones are quaint and look great in the photos but care is required to traverse safely. We loved our location with a little extra elevation - it made our views to the downtown area fantastic from the rooftop balconies. There are many and varied experiences for eating - we enjoyed late afternoon drinks at the Rosewood and Wendy has left a large number of restaurant recommendations. Given the unique architecture I strongly suggest that you take time to explore what is behind any open gate or door as the gardens are beautiful and you may find what looks like a small shop to open up into something much larger and beautiful than imagined...we were there a week and felt we just scratched the surface of the possibilities of this beautiful city.
We hope to come back again soon and wouldn't hesitate to stay again at Casa Dulcinea. Thanks Wendy , Sergio, Jerry and the entire staff for making our trip memorable,
James and Diane Martin
Muchas Diane y amigos. We so enjoyed having you at Casa Dulcinea and thrilled that your trip was Five Stars. You are definitely a Five Star guest. Please come back and stay with us again!
Amazing stay and property in every single way!
I cannot overstate how much my family (two adults, one teen, and one tween) loved our stay at Casa Dulcinea. To begin with, Wendy was an amazing host who was wonderfully gracious and generous with her time and knowledge of SMA as we planned our vacation, allowing us to hit the ground running, feeling confident about our trip. In all my years of staying in VRBO-style homes, I have never encountered a host as helpful, friendly, and informed as Wendy.
The home is situated an easy (and very safe) 15 minute walk from the center of town, through some of the most beautiful and interesting neighborhoods of SMA packed with galleries, restaurants, shops, and parks. We took multiple routes over our seven day stay, and each one introduced new beautiful views and more interesting stores and places to explore.
As for the property itself, it was AMAZING! Truly, even the gorgeous pictures do not do this property justice. Each of the three bedrooms was so comfortable, and each had a beautiful decor and view to the outside (with a balcony, garden, or porch attached to each) as well as a well-equipped bathroom. The two primary inside living rooms were cozy and comfortable with wonderful gas fireplaces that made the space so warm and inviting in the evenings, and the kitchen was amazingly well-equipped, but the truly mind-blowing spaces were the two roof-top decks. One was equipped with chaise lounges from which you can see the entire city, and the other has a dreamy dining table for six with an equally great view.
The property manager, Sergio, was excellent and helpful in every way, and the household staff was sweet and kind and took excellent care of us and the property. Wendy helped arrange for private chefs (the kind and caring Feliza and Jose, a delightful couple) and they made meals so delicious that we'll remember for years to come (and if you hire them, COME HUNGRY, as they cook up a storm and every bite is a treat).
Honestly, I cannot think of a single negative, or even constructively critical, thing to say about this home, its owner, its staff, or its location, If you're planning a trip to SMA, Casa Dulcinea should be your home base!
Muchas gracias for your lovely review. We enjoyed having you stay with us. Come back and visit anytime!
Staying at this beautiful home was nothing short of delightful. It is extremely well appointed, elegant and cozy. We would highly recommend!
5 star service exceeds all expectations
Casa Dulcinea is simply fabulous and is managed with standards of a 5 star hotel. Our transportation to and from Mexico city, wonderful breakfasts and dinners and a day trip to the spectacular city of Guanajuato were all impecibly arranaged by Sergio who acted as our personal Concierge.
The house is set on cobble stone street in a lovely neighbourhood above San Miguel. It is a vibrant city of color, light, festivals and charm and it all is spread before you on the upper decks and framed in the windows.
Our group of three couples had beautiful rooms and more than enough space to secure privacy when needed.
Casa Dulcinea is a perfect choice to experince the life, sounds and rhytum of this endearing part of Mexico.
Thanks to Wendy, Sergio, Jose, Maria, Emma and the wonderful people of San Miguel de Allende
Thanks for your very nice review. And gracias for choosing Casa Dulcinea! We enjoyed having you and your guests stay with us. Come back anytime. You are always welcome!
A Week in San Miguel de Allende
We had the pleasure of staying at Casa Dulcinea on our vacation. Wendy was beyond helpful in helping us plan our trip and arrange transportation from the airport. She checked in while we were there and left us a very generous welcome basket with goodies and a bottle of wine. The property manager, Jerry, met us the first day to show us around. He was easy to reach if we needed anything.
The house is stunning and is located in a beautiful neighborhood with the most amazing rooftop views. We were there during La Fiesta de Los Locos and we loved watching the fireworks from the roof! The walk to Centro takes about 15 minutes, but no matter which way you go the walk is beautiful. We usually took a taxi back to the house for 50 pesos. The city is busy and full of life, it was so nice coming back to such a relaxing home after our daily adventures. There is so much for a family to see and do in SMA. The restaurants are so delicious that we never did any cooking but the kitchen is fully stocked and there is a grill for barbecuing as well.
I would not hesitate to make Casa Dulcinea your home away from home while visiting. My ten year old daughter said it best, “we left a piece of our hearts in San Miguel de Allende!” We are already talking about our next trip back and would love to stay at Casa Dulcinea again. Thank you Wendy!

Fine dining along with delicious street foods abound in San Miguel. Shopping is incredible from local handicrafts to world class art galleries.
