Tucked away from the road in Charming Union Pier, you'll find a small cottage community that shares a nostalgic ideal of Simple Lake Living. This is Edgewater Villa. This vintage cottage has produced cherished family memories for decades and is now available for you to make memories of your own. Listen to waves of Lake Michigan as you sleep, grill on the large open deck, play Frisbee or catch in the large back yard, and of course, walk that tree lined path down the dune to a beautiful private beach. This is a charming and modest vintage cottage. If you're looking for stainless appliances and Pottery Barn furniture, this is not for you. If you want to trade in the Game boy for a board game and prefer Conversation to TV Welcome to your Beach Cottage! Window units in bedrooms only.
Steps to the beach- Literally!: This community is build up on a hill above the beach. There are 63 stairs, a combination of old steep concrete and wood. It very close, but may offer some issues for those with mobility challenges.
Vintage Charm: This is a charming old home, with very few updates since it has been built. It's very comfortable. It is clean and freshly painted, but all the same it is older.
Thank you for a wonderful weekend. The cottage was just adorable. Ryan couldn't have been any nicer. We loved going down to
the beach - we saw Mayor Ron Emanual as he walked by with his daughters. I feel bad for you that those rude neighbors put evergreens right
in your lake view but everything was just as it was described - cute, clean and right on the lake. Great place for a friends' get away. Would recommend it.
We had a great time staying at Nana's Cottage this past weekend. We were two families that fit cozy in this charmingly rustic beach side cottage. The weather was perfect for beach play for the entire family. Great time and great location for the cost. We'll be back again!
So this year we opted to stay a week instead of just a long weekend, and now I wish it had been 2 weeks...
Union Pier is a very relaxing quiet little beach community and staying at Nana's Cottage fits in great with the area. We were all very happy with the cottage, again, as we were last year. This year, 2 families shared the week and it worked out very well with everyone's different work schedules - so we weren't overloaded with people. The parking lot was much appreciated. We hope to return next year!
Stayed with 2 girlfriends for a long weekend escape. Very clean and well kept with everything you could ask for to relax. We were all very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed the wrap around deck, and terrific layout with a big kitchen/dining area and comfortable living area with the glorious wall of windows. A bit rustic in the one bathroom (improvements were in the making) but excellent showers. Beds were very comfy and the place just felt like coming home. We will definitely return!
Our stay at Nana's Cottage was the highlight of our family's summer. When we pulled up, we knew we were in for a few days of privacy and pure relaxation.
The cottage itself was as cute as ever with some recent upgrades (new windows, larger bathrooms, new deck). With lots of windows, the sun was always shining in to provide tons of light and a wonderful shot of the lake from the main living room.
We had more than enough room for our family of four and a very content golden retriever. It was a treat to sit and enjoy coffee & muffins from nearby Nani's Cafe at the large breakfast table in the kitchen.
The walk to the private beach was a quick jaunt down a private path and stairs. Once you walked down, it opened-up to a very peaceful setting.
We cannot thank the team at Cottage Craze enough for all their help and responsiveness. We look forward to coming back next summer to enjoy more happy memories at Nana's Cottage.
The cottage is very welcoming and cozy with its mid-century, vintage furniture. It has everything you need to cook, plenty of towels, blankets etc... We noticed the DVD player wasn't working but we're avid readers and weren't much bothered by that at all.
The location is very quiet and rather sleepy. Not much in the way of restaurants or other venues. The main attraction is the beautiful beach and a few great antique stores nearby. We loved being so close to the lake, but most of all we really appreciated being able to bring our little Jack Russell with us.
The cottage was nice but they seem to be in the middle or tail end of some remodeling (missing window molding, bathtub missing its water handle and some tile, main bathroom light not working). Once they get it all completed it is a sweet place to stay. We were at the private beach every day and grilled out ever night. Very relaxing! We will be back next year if remodeling is complete. It is a nice quiet place to spend a week! The area is close to many things. Some of the group biked to New Buffalo, we ate breakfast at Nani's cafe (great breakfast sandwiches), And just soaked up the sun at the beach (caution there is another set of stairs to go up that aren't shown in the pics). It was just a good place to relax. Thank you for letting us rent it out, Kyle was super to work with.
