Welcome to 'The Corner Penthouse' where the Puerta Del Mar, gated Aguadillian Condo complex is recognized as the best Condo complex in North Western Puerto Rico and this particular unit is the most spacious and has the best ocean views. This penthouse unit has complete privacy for the honeymooning couple or with 2,400 sq ft of living area the penthouse unit can accommodate a large family. The spacious master suite has a master bath with his & her sinks. The second bedroom has a queen size bed, double closets and the den/3rd bedroom has a queen sofa bed. All beds have minimum of three hundred thread sheets and top of the line mattresses. The unit is fully-equipped with a stainless steel kitchen with place settings for 8. The laundry facilities include a full size washer and dryer with all the bells and whistles to keep my wife happy. She does not come with the unit, but would probably be happy to do your wash. Other amenities include air conditioning, covered Lanai balcony and full size penthouse terrace. The terrace has two lounge chairs, a three person sofa and a 3 piece Bristro table with two chairs, extra tall for enjoying the endless beach views. The unit faces west and the sunsets are breath taking.

Additional features include a 42 inch and 40 inch LCD cable TVs, Internet with WIFI, two off-street parking spaces, DVD player & movie library, games, I pod docking station, two adult swimming pools and one kid’s pool, lounge chairs, playground, beach chairs, boogie board, beach towels and beach cooler, etc. Puerta del Mar overlooks Crashboat's Beach one of the most beautiful and renowned beaches in Puerto Rico. Other nearby beaches include Surfer’s Beach, Wilderness, Gas Chambers and Wishing Well's beach. Additional nearby activities available include golf, water slides at the water park, skate board park, bowling, basketball, casino, tennis courts, restaurants, cinemas, and shopping malls. Excursions for Snorkeling, Diving, Paddle boarding, zip-lining and trips to the caves and forest are available. Puerto Rican bakeries have the best bread, the local eateries have specialties like seafood pies, Mofongo (Mashed plantains with seafood, chicken or meat) and local vendor's roadside stands provide local grown fresh fruit and barbecue chicken.

Puerta del Mar is less than a 5 mile drive from Aguadilla airport (BQN) with flights in daily on Jet Blue, United, Spirit and Delta from JFK, Newark, Atlanta, and Florida. The San Juan airport(SJU) is a 2 hour drive away with flights available from many other cities.

Why The Owner chose Puerto Rico

I first went to Puerto Rico in 1975. I fell in love with the natural beauty of the island and the friendliness of the people. Every time I have come back to Puerto Rico I have felt that same welcome. My wife and I decided to make Puerto Rico our second home. We chose Puerta del Mar because of the ocean views, the water activities nearby and the proximity to the airport resulting in short travel distance.

What makes this condo unique

This property contains both a covered patio lanai and a spacious rooftop terrace. The rooftop terrace overlooks the crystal clear water of Aguadilla Bay. You can enjoy drinks while watching the amazing sunsets disappear into the ocean. The view on top of this terrace is a breathtaking 270 degree view of nature's beauty. The unit can accommodate a large family. This corner unit is very private, perfect for the newly wed couple.

Yes, we had a lovely time. (2/11/2011-3/4/2011)

Except for weekends and a few days during the school vacation week the pool was almost deserted and we felt we had the private luxury to ourselves. We went to crashboat beach many times and to Isabella beaches, which became our favorite (endless stretches are simply empty and the waves are scary to watch). At Isabella, we ate at Ocean Front (restaurant in the little hotel on the beach) and it was fine. We enjoyed Celia del Mar near the house (your recommendation), particularly nice with kids who could wander about looking for lizards if we sat over drinks). At crashboat, we discovered that the fish coop (official looking building on lower beach where the food vendors are) will sell you fresh fish from the day’s catch if you find them there (seemed liked Tuesday through Thursday afternoon was when they were in business). Best special occasion restaurant (surprisingly elegant and a bit expensive for Aguadilla, but very very good) is D’Grillade, on 111, in town, facing the water and the parking area. It has a nyc quality bar (try the lemon margarita) and food that is almost of that quality (ahi tuna tartare, osso bucco, wonderful fish). We left a menu for your red book. Went fishing on a lovely lake and campground on route 119 (you’ll see it on the map). Very nice family place. Near it are caverns worth exploring (last entry at 3:15 PM, so come early). If you go to Rincon, go into the hills for a marvelous breakfast and 360 views at a place we think is called the English Rose (forgot to write it down!). They even make their own jam. My husband likes the cherry strudel pastry at a little bakery across from the hospital (last right on 107 before you hit 2, about a block and ½ down the street, just a panaderia sign, no bread, only sweets) and the kids like the ice cream store in town on 111. We rented dvds at walgreens or amigos, at the redbox, and you can return them at any redbox. Made a day trip to Ponce, which has several small and charming museums in its little colonial center. As you come in on Route 2, before Ponce, there are a string of very good seafood restaurants right on the water. We ate at the last one and had an amazing grilled lobster.

Most of all, we chilled at the pool, the beach and on the amazing terrace.

Property needs some tender loving care inside and out

The exterior of the property needs a fresh coat of paint. It looks like it has not been painted in years.

Furniture in the property was a little worn and whoever cleans the apt needs to do a better job. Windows leading out to the terrace were dirty and dresser in the loft was very dusty. A few cracks in the apt walls need to be patched up and apt needs fresh cost of paint. Views were beautiful overall all an ok stay.

Owner's Response: The entire complex is in the process of being repainted. It was painted 3 years ago and needs to be repainted. The exterior painting will be completed as soon as its our turn. We have settling cracks, and after repair, plan to have the interior repainted as well. We take pride in keeping everything to perfection where we have control over them. We want all guests to have a wonderful experience. We appreciate your feedback and assure you it will be corrected in the shortest time possible.

Lovely time

Really is a fantastic view and great location. Unit is well kept and Greg made it super easy rental process.

Candidly, and this has nothing to do with Greg or the unit, but in general for any unit rented via VRBO, VRBO charges too big a fee to act as a middleman. Sorry to be preachy and to turn this into a public service announcement but it's the truth. Same way Ticketmaster charges too much by the way.

In any case, Greg's unit is terrific, he's terrific, and we will surely be back.

I have been to this area for 5 years now and I have stayed in Puerta Del Mar. This was my 1st time in this unit, & I will now only stay here. All the units in Puerta Del Mar are wonderful . Yet the corner penthouse just gives so much more breathing room with a family of 4.

Amazing view from the rooftop terrace, conveniently located, large comfortable condo.

This condo has an amazing view from the roof top terrace which we used daily for happy hour.

The condo is very large with plenty of room for 2 couples.

The only issue we had was with the 2nd bedroom, it didn't have a bureau to to put your clothes when on an extended stay. It was a bit too small. There was a big closet but with only one night stand it made it difficult to have anything needed next to you at night.

The west side of the island doesn't have many sandy beaches, we were lucky the be a 5 min drive from one of the better ones - crash boat beach.

Isabella 10 miles away is a must see with many small local eateries and a fantastic beach a few miles north of town.

Greg and Diane the owners are a pleasure to deal with. They communicate promptly, their home was clean well appointed and in a perfect location to check out the western side of Puerto Rico.

Great Location

This condo is in a great location and is very clean. Our family had a great stay in this penthouse and we will be staying here again! This unit has the BEST views for morning coffee and having a cocktail when the sun goes down. The owners are wonderful and quick to reply to any request. Thanks for letting us use your place.

Beautiful, roomy condo with stunning views

We had a wonderful stay at the corner penthouse property. There were 5 of us and it was spacious enough to be comfortable for all. The balconies were fabulous, with views of the ocean all around. We did not eat in, but could have- the kitchen was stocked with what we needed. We did make use of the blenders for pina coladas, though! The condo is stocked with lots of beach supplies, more than any other condo I have stayed in before in this complex. The owners are wonderful hosts, and helped us out quickly when we accidentally locked ourselves out. I highly recommend this property. Thanks, Greg and Diane!
