It' s All around you; That means that you can actually see from Po' del Vento: Città della Pieve (13 km), Cortona (35km), Chiusi (10 km), and Montepulciano, Chiusi Lake, Trasimeno Lake (10 km); Perugia (38 km), Assisi ( 60 km) from the top of the hill, but not Paciano (3 Km) Florence (120km), Rome (145km), Orvieto (35km).
The hill, between two valleys, has an ideal microclimate, with a gentle breeze that cools the air by the day; a strong temperature range that brings the temperature at night to 18° and 20° C, 65-68 F.
Po' del Vento is in Miralaghi estate, 350 hectares -750 acres of beauty in a natural park; only 15 km from the A1 motorway, at an altitude that goes from 450 to 630 msl, with an enviable climate, both in winter and in summer, on top of a hill, overlooking Chiana Valley.
Po' del Vento is a nice, comfortable, of f the XIX century, stone country house with a unique view over Trasimeno and Chiusi lakes across to the Amiata and Cetona mountains in the background, surrounded by famous, ancient villages: Città della Pieve, Cortona, Montepulciano, Castiglione del Lago, Chiusi the old capital of Etruscan
At night, don’t miss the spectacular view of the dark sky crowded with stars and the surrounding valleys lit up by hundreds of pin-point lights.
I tried to make the apartments following the natural architecture of the old farmhouse and my Italian taste. I mixed together ancient and modern, trying to give you all the comforts you have at home.
Po' del Vento is divided in three apartments: Po' del Vento 1 at the first floor with a large terrace, a large dining room, separate kitchen, 3 double bedrooms, one twin bedroom, two bathrooms with shower.
Po' del Vento 2: 1 sitting room with a area for the kitchen, opening onto the garden with a gazebo overlooking the valley, 2 twin/double bedrooms with 1 bathroom.
Po' del Vento 3 Ground floor ,1 living/dining room , 1 kitchenette,1 gazebo overlooking the valley, 2 twin/double bedrooms with 1 bathroom.
All flats have their own parking places, their own external living spaces with garden furniture, barbecue, mosquito nets at the windows, heating, house linen, HI-FI, hair dryer.Wi-FI.
Close the house the swimming pool (6X11) with the shade of the trees the perfume of the roses and sun-beds partly covered to let to read your preferred book.
Near is the children play ground with the swing, the slide, the tunnel, the sand-pit, the duck on the spring , the house of the children.
Nature, culture, art and relaxation: come to Po' del Vento to discover some of the most interesting and beautiful areas of Italy and to admire some splendid works of art dating back to the Roman-Etruscan civilization through to the Renaissance.
Or just enjoy Po del Vento in Miralaghi property with its wonderful excursions on foot or mountain bike, close to untouched nature with dense woodlands full of wildlife, FISH at our fishing pond (No-kill fish), take a PICNIC at the Romantic lake, do, as Rambo, the FITNESS trail in the forest (17 equipments, the children like it a lot ) or simply walk along it and our 20 Km of scenic path, play ping- pong and soccer table.or boules at bowling green, or climb on the two birds watching, lies under a tree chattering or reading or simply looking at the changing sky; you will recharge your batteries
Tired? Play chess under the oak, admire the wonderful sunset and the never- ending view around you, eat out and try our local gourmet specialities, not forgetting our olive oil.
Born as a hunter’s reserve there are still many species of wild animals, which I try to protect in every way: foxes, roe deer, hedgehogs, porcupines, wild boars, hares, and squirrels near Foresteria and Villa Miralaghi fire-flies in June, July. A couple of buzzards and a hawks often circle above us. A family of barn owls is often seen at night. Robin, jay, hoopoe, green-peak are usual visitors. Pheasants and partridges are often set free here.
At the begin of spring there are the violets, in Italy we do a delicious blue candy with the violets, a lot of wild flowers during the spring, the sun-flowers in summer; In september in the forest you encounters carpets of cyclamens. At the end of September until the beginning of November you can find many species of mushrooms- books explaining them are at home .
If you like a different experience come the first week-end of November when we start the harvest of the olives.
Every week I invite my guests at the swimming pool to introduce them at the masterpieces of the sorroundings: Paciano a faboulous middleage small fortified village, Panicale a wonderful renaissance village, Chiusi the old etruscan capital of King Porsenna with the etrusca tombs to visit and the underground town.., Montepulciano where is the most beautiful cellar of the world (and the wine, of course), the playgroung of Twilight II, Cortona (under Tuscany sun) the one I like more with a wonderful museum with the oldest lamp in the world (IV cent. BC), Castiglione del Lago on the Trasimeno Lake with the fortress done by Federico II to reach through the walls of the town, his nice weekly market..., The Maggiore island in the lake to reach by ferry from where admire the sunset on the lake. Sarteano where a new etruscan- roman tomb has been recently discovered, Cetona with the preistorical caves, San Casciano or Bagni San Filippo where to go to take a hot bathe during the winter....Perugia with the stunning Rocca Paolina marvellous and unknown.
Once a week I do a lesson- testing on extra virgin olive oil.
There is still much to see: in Arezzo there is a nice antiquity market the first Sunday of every month, Siena of course, Assisi the town of San Francis with the two churches one up the other , , ,Gubbio .
And staying more than one week don't miss Le Marmore falls the highest falls in Europe and Frasassi caves the most beautiful caves where I've never been in all my life.

The property was bought by my grandfather after World War II, when returning from Africa, was looking for a property near Rome, that reminds him of the wide spaces of Africa and he felt in love for Miralaghi estate where is Po' del Vento. All around us there is not the savannah, of course, but hundreds of kilometers of nature, culture, architecture all around you.
I like a lot this place because is in the hearth of the most beautiful area of Umbria and Tuscany and I like to share it: it is a unique place. The air is clean, full of good energy, the silence is broken by the birdsong.
I stay at the country all year long. I live in another house in the estate where I like to invite my guests for a drink.
Miralaghi is a perfect place where to live and work because is beautiful, near Rome and Florence in un area full of theaters, events, festivals, music, concerts, parade, cinemas. You will find all the info about it on our facebook page under miralaghi- the one with my face.
Sometime I do a horse-ride inside the estate with a magnificent Arab from the near riding-school.
or simply I like to sit on the stair of the house to chat with my sons while we admire the countless stars in the pure sky above us.
Maria Luisa Pisa Simonini purchased this chateau / country house in 1957
if you come here, follow my advice: returning late after midnight stop off; the valley is no longer sparkling with lights: is asleeps and the sky sparkles of lights has become more close, you feel wrapped in it. Are truly infinite the stars of heaven. It 's crazy. Everything is silence. Perfect. Leave these astonishing momente, you would like of not go to sleep. ... The barking of a dog, in the distance, barely audible captures you. What a magic moment. Put these feelings inside of you to remember one day .. at home.
See the hawks playing with the wind.
The temperature perfect because there is always a gentle breeze: in summer during the day it' s never hot, at night it falls down at 18-20 degree centigrades- IDEAL to sleep.
In winter time if in the valley is foggy here is always sunny 3.4 7 degrees higher.
At the center of a lot of trips in a area where there is the 40% of the architectural beauty of Italy, with a lot of cultural, historical and traditional events
Watch at the unique view , breathing the pure air: millions of cubic meters of leaves clean the air; drink spring water; sleep like a father prior, as written by a customer; eat typical dishes of central Italy: , venison, mushrooms, truffles..visit the most beautiful medieval and renaissance villages of Italy; near two lakes, near the highest waterfalls in Europe, near the caves of Cetona and not far from those of Frasassi.
In an area rich in thermal waters, SPA and natural springs where to enjoy.
Walking, mountain biking, fishing, climbing on bird watching, play bowls with your children, with darts, table tennis, table football, relax by the pool or in the Jacuzzi, in a land so vast that it is difficult meet with other guests. For this, on Monday I gather everyone to the pool to, showing you the places to visit, reveal its secrets and give you a chance to meet each other and make friends, if you want.
In the evening, after preparing your dinner at the BBQ with wood that are around, enjoy our video library, or play to the many board games or simply Stretch out on a chaise longue to watch the stars; sometimes, if you agree, we call a astronome to show us.
Or ask me a lesson -tasting on the extra virgin oil or a class Italian cooking...
we have had a wonderful time. The swimming pool was great and so was the playground. We all found the view fantastic. It was great. Hope we will see you and this wonderful place again.
With great pleasure we think back to our autumn week in Umbria at the house with a view. It was exactly as promised on the internet. Magnificent! We would stayed for 5 nights but could fortunately extend to 8 nights. Maria Luisa was an enthusiastic hostess who at all times stand by for us. A real recoomandation.
Really enjoyed our two weeks here, so peaceful and beautiful. Each night was wonderful sitting outside surveying the surrounding hilltop towns and lakes, some super sunsets and even lightning storms to watch from afar, they lit up the sky.
Maria was brilliant, always so helpful. She obviously just wants to ensure you have a good holiday.
Road up to farm house not brilliant so be aware, but we did get used to it, definitely use the Moiano one it is so much better than the road to Paciano.
Accommodation rustic but good nice touches.
Lovely bright sitting room.
Would recommend this place for a super relaxing holiday in lovely countryside.
Magnificent property with interesting walks and exquisite views! Spacious accommodation comfortable and well appointed. Easy going and generous ownership. Convenient to many towns of interest and in the heart of beautiful Umbria! We look forward to a return visit. Maybe tomorrow!
We stayed at Miralaghi for one week during June 2013. We had a wonderful time. The accommodation is situated perfect for exploring the region. The view is outstanding on Lake Trasimeno (beautiful sunsets) and the hills with Citta Della Pieve to name one. We would not hesitate to stay here again if we should ever vist Umbria in future. Maria went out of her way to make us feel welcome. My husband was not feeling well and she offered to take him to the doctor while she had a very busy schedule. Thank you for a lovely stay. Highly recommended.
Three adults stayed in this apartment for 2 weeks in March. We'd booked a different apartment on this property but since we were the only guests at this time of year, Maria "upgraded" us to Po' del Vento 3. There was nothing wrong with Foresteria, but we did appreciate the better views from Po' del Vento, which is higher on the hill and more open.
And the view was wonderful. From high on Mt. Pausillo you can see, in almost all directions, rolling hills, lakes, farms and various Hill Towns of Umbria and Tuscany. Though you are relatively close to the autostrada (20 min drive) and the train station (15 min drive), you are definitely in an isolated, rural setting. The final approach to the property is a several mile, uphill drive, on a dirt road. This road was in fairly poor condition while we were there, due to heavy winter rains, but our economy rental car had no trouble getting up it
The apartment itself was fine. It's not luxurious but it wasn't advertised as such, and the economical rate fit our budget. There was plenty of room for the 3 of us, but be aware that the kitchen in Po' del Vento 3 is very small. The sink, stove, and refrigerator take up most of the room. Still, we were able to make it work, and ate most of our evening meals at home. It was fairly cool and windy (hence the "Vento" in Po' del Vento) during our 2 week stay, and the old building was very drafty, especially around the windows. This may not be a problem in the summer, but in the cool spring, we resorted to some paper towel caulking around the windows on particularly windy days (I believe Maria Luisa is planning a more permanent fix).
It wasn't the time of year to enjoy some of what Miralaghi has to offer, such as the pool, fishing lakes, fitness trails, etc, so I can't really comment on them. I do think this would be a wonderful place for outdoor activities in the summer though. We spent most of our days out sightseeing, and found Miralaghi to be very well situated for day trips to surrounding towns and attractions, from nearby gems like Paciano, and Castiglione del Lago, to those further away, such as Orvieto, Assisi, Florence, and Rome. We took the train from Chuisi to Rome to avoid parking hassles, but drove everywhere else.
If you can handle a little rustic living away from the crowds, I think you will enjoy Miralaghi, Maria was a wonderful and attentive host, and provided us with lots of great info and some delicious, home-made olive oil. Grazie, Maria Luisa!
15 Km from the highway: Ideal center for a lot of excursions in Umbria and Tuscany.
In the immediate vicinity, I advise a lovely medieval village: Paciano, 3 Km, and a beautiful Renaissance village: Panicale, 7 Km.
From your home you can see: Chiusi at 10 Km, Città della Pieve 14 Km, Castiglione del Lago at 12 Km, Trasimeno Lake 12 Km and Chiusi Lake 10Km , Montepulciano 25 Km, Cortona (Under The Tuscany Sun) at 30 Km and a little bit further Perugia at 35 Km, Assisi (San Francis town) 50 Km.
Travel on Trasimeno Lake to the fisherman’s isle where you can spend a great afternoon.
If you would like to discover ' Il Perugino' go to Città Della Pieve to Santa Maria de I Bianchi is the most beautiful fresco of him: the nativity.
Chiusi, the ancient city of King Porsenna, is a city of Etruscan origin. you can visit the interesting archeological museum and the system of tunnel underground the towns born to defense the town.
The tombs, which are very interesting, are visible nearby.
Not far is Montepulciano; the most beautiful Renaissance town in Italy. I advise you to go to the Avignonesi cellars to taste the fine wines and the Redi cellars the most beautiful in the world for Newsweek.
Further away is Pienza the first small Italian city built according to a regular plan. The ideal town in the 17th century and one of the “Treasure of the humanity” for the UNESCO.To arrive in Pienza follow the indication to Montichielli, NOT to Pienza.
I'ensure you a beautiful charming trip.
On the other part of Lake Trasimeno is Cortona- under Tuscany Sun- At the museum of The Etruscan Academy there is the famous Etruscan lamp the oldest in the world. There is also a magnificent “Announcement” of Beato Angelico and paintings of Luca Signorello.
You must visit in Perugia the “Rocca Paolina”, a curious item: A barbican built on 200 houses.
Equidistant is Orvieto; the Cathedral is stupendous The Well an emotion for adults and children. And recently they opened the “underground town”.
There is still much to see: Arezzo, Siena, Assisi (The town of San Francis with the two churches one up the other ) Gubbio ....
And staying more then one week don't miss le Marmore falls (they are opened all day long only saturday and sunday), the highest falls in Europe and Frasassi caves the most beautiful caves I've been in all my life.
If you want to go by train from Chiusi, you can travel comfortable to either Rome or Florence in about one hour, and still return in the same day.
