Overview

About the property

A 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom beach house. Peaceful with amazing water views.

The property is secluded by native trees with an uninterrupted outlook to Scamander River lagoon and further across the dunes to the magnificent ocean. Max's is peaceful and quiet making it the perfect place to unwind and rejuvenate the spirit. It's just a short - 5 to 10 min (for me it's 5) - walk around the lagoon to the magnificent beach.

Max's is a great base to explore the East Coast and all it has to offer. The property is close to beaches, surf, restaurants, shops, pub, post office, golf, fishing, park, skate park, Scamander River and the boat launch.

We are happy to take one night bookings, however we would encourage you to stay longer as most guests wish they had! Please note that over the summer holiday period (January) we only take a minimum of 4 night bookings. If there are spaces in-between we're happy to fill those.

Max's is a two bedroom two bathroom house. We can accomodate up to 6 people comfortably, with one double bed (with electric blanket) and two bunk beds (bottom bunks can easily be pushed together) in a large room with an electric heater. All linen is provided (except beach towels).

The kitchen is fully equipped with some pantry items provided.

You'll be happy to know that Scamander tap water is drinkable.

The beach house is a very comfortable and well equipped property on a level block with plenty of room to park your cars and boat. It is exceptionally clean & well maintained with a great heater that can easily heat the entire house. Enjoy the movies, books, Fuss Ball Table & games provided.

If you want to "get away from it all" for a few days then Max's is the place for you. We cherish those moments of peaceful relaxation and you can do just that at Max's. Max's is an extremely comfortable holiday house for those wishing to visit the East Coast of Tasmania. Whether you want to kick back with friends and family, go surfing at the many local surf breaks or catch a few fish in the beautiful Scamander or from the beach you will find Max's the ideal place.

Watching the black swans glide by on the lagoon at the back of Max's as the moon rises over the ocean makes the perfect setting for a real break. If you're lucky to come at the right time of year you may be able to catch a few king prawns in the lagoon - but don't tell too many this!

Our story

Kim and I love this part of Tasmania and the lifestyle that it offers. We have two terrific sons aged 20 (uni) and 17 (yr 11). Surfing as a family is one of our favourite things to do. We all contribute to the running, cleaning and maintaining of our beach house. We know that there’s room for improvement but we hope you can feel the love that goes into the house.

I work part time at the local school in St Helens and Kim is a retired teacher (I think), he’s having a year off, who knows what the future holds. I keep telling him that I’m too young for my husband to be retired.

Music is a big part of our lives, Kim is a singer/songwriter and is eager to perform more this year. Our boys love their music and play bass guitar in various bands. I am an artist and have been painting for most of my life. The artworks on the walls at Max's are my works from various time periods.

We all enjoy healthy, fresh, delicious food. We are fortunate that Kim is a keen gardener and keeps us well fed with his garden goodies and locally caught seafood.

Max was Kim's Dad, he was my first friend when I moved to Tasmania 20 years ago. He had the house built in the 70's and Kim holidayed here as a boy. We miss Max, he was one of the most mindful people I've ever met.

As guests we are a tidy, respectful family and are mindful of the energy that is involved in running and cleaning a holiday rental. If you have any questions or would like some local advice please don't hesitate to ask.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Happy & Safe Travels!

Lovely homely clean holiday home.

  • 4 of 5

Had a good nights sleep after cooking a lovely dinner. Nice hot shower. I loved the eco shampoo and shower gel etc the same as I use at home without nasty products. Didn’t mind taking linen off beds, actually did some of the washing while waiting for the fellas to get packed after their beach walk. Hope to come back. I think a hook catch on the bathroom door would be great though.

Loved my stay

  • 5 of 5

This was a very comfortable, well appointed house. It was spotlessly clean and had a fabulous back-yard outdoor area with a beautiful outlook. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. There are some stunning beaches and natural attractions very close by, with Scamander the perfect base. I would stay at Max’s Beach House again without hesitation and thoroughly recommend it to others. Thanks Nell, Kim and family :-)

Great place

  • 5 of 5

We found Max's Beach house clean with comfortable furnishings. The bed was comfy and the kitchen well equipped. There is a lovely beach just a short walk away, and shops are easily accessible by foot. The hosts are very friendly and communication was excellent. Max's Beach house would be a great place to spend with a family.

  • 4 of 5

Max’s Beachhouse was exactly what we needed to rest and recuperate from the flu and surgery. Clean and neat; everything worked, plenty of hot water; heating when needed.
