Castella Country Retreat

Bedrooms 4
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 5 nights

About the property

A peaceful retreat, set on 5 acres of land adjoining Kinglake National Park. Our 4 bedroom mudbrick holiday house is located in a secluded valley just 1 km off the Melba Hwy, the Castella Country Retreat (CCR) is an easily accessible yet secluded getaway, just a little over an hours drive from Melbournes CBD. If wine tasting or site seeing is your thing, CCR is a great place to base your stay in the Yarra Valley.

Wake to the laugh of the Kookaburras and enjoy an array of birdlife which fill the stringybark gums throughout the day. Keep an eye out for wild ducks, echidnas, wombats and kangaroos who frequent our dams and paddocks. CCR is a fabulous way to enjoy the Yarra Valley and the great Australian Bush.

Local attractions include numerous wineries (some with great restaurants), great scenery, walking trails, waterfalls, cafes, quaint local towns, Healesville Sanctuary, Tarrawarra Art Gallery, the Yarra Glen & Healesville Race Tracks and the RACV Country Golf Club.

With 4 bedrooms and two living areas CCR is great for a girls weekend away, families and groups of friends.

Families with young children will need to take care, there are two dams located on the property.

Sorry, pets are not permitted.

Smoking is NOT permitted inside.

Travel back in time!

  • 5 of 5

I grew up on the street 2 houses down and used to play in this house when I was about 7 with the kids that used to live here. It was great to travel back and check out the area loved every minute of it! I was able to show my friends where I grew up and they thoroughly enjoyed it! We hope to come back and stay again!! Thank you for letting us stay in your home it was beautiful!

Stunning Location

  • 5 of 5

We were three generations on a 5 night getaway...what an incredibly beautiful place to rejuvenate from a busy year. The house was spacious, well equipped and comfortable, with toys to entertain the little ones as well as many other useful amenities. The property is sprawling, right in the lush mountains, and we felt very little need to go off-site as it was hard to think of somewhere nicer than just sitting on the veranda or in the garden, watching the birds. Thanks Niki, everything was so perfect and I'm sure we will come again.

Wonderful family getaway

  • 5 of 5

7 of us stayed over the Easter break in this beautifully kept home. The wood stove - and ample supplies of wood; the wrap-a-around verandah, the very well equipped kitchen and the two living areas made for a comfortable, "homey" base to explore the Yarra Valley

Fabulous property

We had 2 families, both with small children. Plenty of room and lots of space outside to run around and relax. Had a lovely weekend.
