About Dan Stophel

We are Dan & Bonnie. We have been together since 1988! We met in the Navy and both retired with over 20 years. We came back to the Bristol Area because of family and the weather. Bonnie is from Michigan, which is way too cold in the winter and I am from Bluff City. It is not a bad place to hang your hat.

Dan Stophel purchased this farmhouse in 1991

Why Dan Stophel chose Tennessee

This was my Grandparents house were they raised my mother, as well as her sisters and brothers. We bought it from my uncle and rented it out for a while and decided to convert it to a VRBO home. We hope it works out well and we meet some really great people.

Had a great time

  • 4 of 5

Except for the snake under the back porch and the aggressive bees around the house, everything was fine. Its convenient and clean and we enjoyed our stay. We are looking at different travel options for next year, but we are still thinking of reserving for both NASCAR race weeks. Thanks Again- Lou and Al

Owner's Response: I wish you would of informed me about the snake under the back porch and the aggressive bees around the house, while you were still at the house. I have wasp and bee spray in the kitchen closet which sprays up to 20 feet. I am just down the road and have know problems with killing bees or snakes if notified of there presents. It makes it easier to take care of issues if I know about them while people are at the house. We are out in the country and wildlife is present. Most wildlife will not harm you, although there are a few bad ones. I have information about most of the harmful wildlife in the note book by the entry door. The note book also has information about how to operate equipment in the house as well as other good information to know about the surrounding area. Also I am just down the road and am willing to answer any questions or address any concerns you might have.

You have everything you need, except your food and clothes!!! It's clean and off the beaten path. Nice place to unwind after a great day of riding some of the best motorcycle roads around. Dan always checks in with you to make sure everything is satisfactory. Can't wait to come back!!! Thanks for letting us stay Dan!!

Charming County Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at your property during the first week of July. Wonderful country setting and just a 20 minute drive to historic downtown Bristol TN/VA. Loved the view of the pasture across the road from the kitchen window. Both front and back porch had seating. Be sure to make it to downtown Bristol: Burger Bar, Blackbird Bakery (open 24 hrs M-S), stroll thru shops on State Street, many restaurant choices, Bristol Caverns, Bays Mountain Park, Ridgewood Barbecue (get there early & worth the wait), Fly Fishing and multiple lakes. Would be easy drive for race days. New time we will take the tour of Bristol Raceway. Location is mappable and you do not need a SUV/FWD to reach, Sprint had cell phone service/AT&T none. Rooms were clean and as pictured in listing & kitchen well stocked if cooking, dining table seating for six. Wifi made the kids & husband happy. We hope to stay here again next time we visit the area. Thank you Dan & Bonnie for your hospitality.

Very comfortable and quiet. Perfect place to stay and is convenient to everything. Although we had some terrible weather, we made the most of our stay in a nice dry environment! Well stocked with linens and bath supplies. All that you could want in the kitchen too - from coffee maker to micro wave.
