About David Colin
I was born and raised here in Rome. In the late 1960's, my father was one of the founders of the American University of Rome (AUR), and, indeed, the apartment was the administrative office and classroom (and impromptu party space) for AUR over a number of years. So, the apartment has been in my family for almost 50 years. Although I now live near Washington, DC, where I am an economist, I come back to Rome as often as possible. Despite all my time here, Rome continues to be a fascinating city that always has more to offer. I hope you find the Eternal City as welcoming and wonderful as I do.
David Colin purchased this Apartment in 1992

Unparalleled location and amenities
I would like to start my review by complementing the apartment owner, David Colin, on his superb management of the property. David responded to my emails within the hour and graciously assisted with any question or request. David’s help had undoubtedly made our stay more enjoyeable.
The driver and the property greeter were very punctual and courteous.
The apartment is in a building with an elevator, which is very helpful in getting the luggage upstairs to the second floor. The apartment was very specious which was perfect for my family of four. Everything was very clean and there were plenty of fluffy bath towels for all of us. David even provided bath robes, which isn’t something one sees in HomeAway properties. My husband & I were very greatful for them. We also loved the fact that the apartment came with a washer and a dryer with easy to understand instructions. It was rainy when we were in Rome, so the dryer literally saved us.
The location is perfect. The building is in the heart of old Rome, all the tourist destinations are within a short walking distance. There are at least 5 restaurants on the block, so we never had to worry about looking for a place to eat, which could be a little stressful when traveling with children.
Thank you, David, for sharing your awesome apartment with us.
Perfect apartment in Rome
A fantastically located apartment, immaculately clean, superbly appointed. The very helpful owner has thought of everything you could wish for during your stay - stocked fridge and larder, personal amenities, guides, books, maps, brollies, bags Rome themed-dvds as well as helpful tech items - and this means you feel instantly like you are getting an "insider experience", as well as making your stay more relaxing and comfortable. Despite it's central location the apartment is quiet and we slept very well. We keep coming back to this apartment as it is so good, we can't recommend it highly enough. It's better than a 5 star hotel experience!
There should be an option to rate it with 10 stars instead of just 5. Absolutely fantastic!
The property is perfect. The location is amazing. It’s spacious. It's immaculately clean. The owners have thought of every detail - a car and driver to pick you up, a greeter who meets you at the apartment, travel books and maps, loads of quality towels, welcome snacks, breakfast foods, water and wine. The entire apartment is comfortable. The Word doc that the owner provides is better than most travel books. We love Rome, have visited many times, and are familiar with quite a few restaurants. David’s recommendations have now become personal favorites.
Even though it rained on most days it didn’t put a damper on our visit as we could stop by the apt after we had been out for a few hours and refresh because of its central location. We even got to witness a rarity in Rome - SNOW!!
We plan on returning to this property in the future. It’s by far one of the best private properties we have ever booked. Don’t hesitate book your stay today.
This apartment is fantastic - inside and outside
This apartment is outstanding! The location is central to the Spanish Steps, the Piazza Navona and the Trevi Fountain! In fact, it is central to all of ancient Rome! Inside, the apartment shines! It is beautifully appointed with all the modern amenities, including soft, plush towels and bath robes. The kitchen and bathrooms are state-of-the-art!
We can't say enough about David's apartment, located just steps from everything. The location is the best of the best. The apartment is the perfect blend of old-world charm and modern luxury.
David was a wonderful host and extremely organized and accommodating.
It was truly a privilege to stay in the Spanish Steps apartment, and we would love to return.
Our trip was fantastic. The apartment was centrally located and beautifully appointed.
In the heart of the historic center, between the beautiful Spanish Steps and the famous Trevi fountain, the apartment is within walking distance of many of Rome's most famous sights and surrounded by restaurants and world-class shopping. Walk to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Capitoline museums, and even the Vatican. Excellent access to metro, taxis, and bus stops, and a good supermarket is around the corner. All the wonders of Rome are within easy reach. The area is upscale and safe, perfect for the traditional evening stroll after a fabulous meal, while enjoying an unforgettable gelato!
