This is our only vacation home, we own it because we love staying here. This beautiful, airy condominium (1438 sq. ft. of living space) is comfortably furnished as a complete vacation home. Better still (and unlike older Poipu units) our home has Central Air Conditioning, a must in Poipu summer's. For your 2014 Poipu Vacation, renovation of our home is now complete, including newly painted rooms, new plush carpeting, and in the livingroom relax on our beautiful new Cambridge sofa and loveseat.
The living room and dining area have vaulted ceilings and open to your outdoor lanai. Sip your morning coffee on the covered lanai and experience the pink, mauve and orange of a beautiful Kauai sunrise, as warm soft trade winds clatter in the palm trees that surround you. From the comfort of your private lanai, vistas overlook the quiet Regency II pool, and beyond to the expansive landscaped lawns of the Poipu Greenbelt, as the walking path gently curves down towards the Grand Hyatt and Shipwreck Beach.
From right outside your front door, a gentle Poipu Greenbelt stroll in about 5 minutes brings you to the beautiful gardens and waterfalls of the Grand Hyatt and Shipwreck Beach. Or a stroll down the greenbelt path in the opposite direction (to the west) in about 5 minutes will bring you to Poipu Beach, consistently rated Best Beach in Hawaii.
Relaxation and comfort begins in rooms of soothing earth-tone colors with a sense of openness and plenty of natural light, New window treatments offer privacy, tasteful artwork adds a sense of serenity, and ceiling fans in each room insure that all rooms remain consistently air conditioned to your preferences..
The living room provides a comfortable Cambridge sofa and loveseat in high grade knit fabric of muted tropical tones, with side chairs. And in the enclosed entertainment center is a 40' LCD Samsung, Blu-Ray and surround sound. Wireless internet is available to keep you connected and in the spring of 2014 was upgraded to deliver impressive speed. Also, centrally located is an iPad docking station, so feel free to bring your own vacation soundtrack.
The kitchen is modern with deep rich granite counter tops providing plenty of space for whipping up your culinary creations, and you will have available what you need in pots and pans that we replace regularly. We also provide an assortment of serving bowls, large wooden salad bowl and tupperware.This kitchen is fully equipped, with full-sized refrigerator with ice-maker, microwave, dishwasher, range-oven, dinnerware, barware, small appliances. If you prefer, you can barbecue your ''catch of the day'' in the convenient, well maintained gas grill near the pool. The kitchen opens into a dining room with vaulted ceilings where soft, warm light from a hanging chandelier, can be dimmed to accent a romantic evening dinner, as the lighted path of the Poipu Greenbelt stretches out below you.
The master bedroom has a private lanai encircled by flowering Plumeria trees, with tropical garden views of the pathway leading down to Poipu Beach. You will enjoy a well furnished, comfortable king bed with a tasteful bedroom set and matching lamps and a new Samsung flat screen TV enclosed in Tommy Bahama armour. The spacious master bathroom with travertine floors have both a jacuzzi tub and large walk in tiled shower. A large mirror and double sinks, with professional make-up mirror and hair dryer for your use make it ease to transition from swimsuits to evening dress for a special night out.
The second bedroom, also located on the entry level, has two twin beds, (which can be converted to a queen) and lush views of banana leaves that enhance the tropical tree-house ambiance of this private location. Also on the entry level is the additional full bath tub/shower located opposite the second bedroom. In the back hallway is a convenient new Maytag stackable washer and dryer, as well as a storage room for beach gear.
The upstairs loft bedroom is bright and cheery, furnished with a king bed and a new bedroom set and matching lamps. On this level, there is a private full bath and walk-in closet with plenty of storeage. Each bedroom comes equipped with an assortment of pillows to satisfy your preference, soft or firm. In addition, each bedroom has available an iPhone docking station / alarm clock.
Located on the South Shore of Kauai, the Garden Island, is Poipu Beach, located just 30 minutes from the Lihue Airport. Regency II, built in 1998, is located within the prestigious Poipu-Kai Resorts, featuring 85 acres of lush tropical gardens. In addition to the short walk through the resort grounds to Shipwreck Beach or Poipu Beach Park, the resort also provides on-site the Poipu Kai Tennis Complex with nine courts and a large Poipu Kai Resort swimming pool.
As a special bonus for you, and available for properties booked by GVR, you and all of the guests in our condo, for a flat fee of $100 for a week, will have access to the Poipu Bay Athletic Club. The PBAC facility is located less than a half mile away, where guests may enjoy the club amenities including a resort style pool with waterslide and sand-bottom children's playing area and hot-tub. Tennis Courts, Weight room and Cardio room are also included. A variety of fitness classes including Yoga are also available for an additional $5 per class. Our description of 'Tranquility Base' may have captured your imagination and triggered that nagging sense of déjà vu, and asking yourself, .. 'Tranquility Base', where have I heard that before? If you are old enough to remember the evening of July 20th, 1969 when a Nation, held their collective breath as the Apollo 11 Astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin guided the Eagle to the surface of the moon. After what seemed like an eternity, the radio transmission crackled back to Earth, “Houston, this is Tranquility Base. The Eagle has landed.” And from that moment on a generation of adventurers were emboldened to search out the unique and the wonderful in every corner of our planet. And for us, of all the amazing places we have explored, we always love coming back to our Tranquility Base in beautiful Poipu.

Buying the best Poipu condo is not an easy task. Over the years we had rented several Poipu condos and in searching to buy we looked at dozens of units. We found many condo units had drawbacks; older properties closer to the ocean facing east or west, in our experience, can be hot in the AM or PM sun and lack AC. We were shown many nice units but the views would overlook a parking lot - good people watching I guess. Some high end condo complexes in the evenings were not so enchanted with excessive bright light pollution from the resort next door. And for some units, built more recently, the buildings lack a spaciousness, and we discovered the view from one lanai can be of your neighbor’s lanai 30 feet away. We found 620 Regency II to be the perfect fit for us, and had none of the drawbacks we had discovered during our search. Regency II, with newer construction, upgraded kitchen, central air conditioned, lovely grounds, well located, provides the perfect, quiet tropical ambiance. We can't wait to come back!
The previous owners of 620 Regency were involved in the development of Regency II. Experienced in judgement of the inherent value of well-located real estate, they had reserved for themselves just one unit, 620 Regency, out of the 84 units of Regency II, the unit that was clearly the “pick of the litter”. We love a top floor, corner unit in the back of the complex, with greenbelt vistas from both of the lanai, and the sounds of the soft wind-rush of warm trades in the palm trees. Our location is fantastic!
We stayed here prior to spending several days at the Marriott. This condo is very nicely furnished (granite countertops, large flat screen tv etc.), and the grounds are meticuously cared for Although not on the beach, only a 5 minute walk to Poipu which is good for swimming and snorkeling with lots of good restaurants around the area. We much preferred staying at this rental than the Marriott. Newer, obviously much more room. Its nice to have a full kitchen that is fully appointed to eat which ever meals in that you wish. The poipu location is also much nicer than Lihue
Having just returned to the mainland I want to share with future guests what a memorable family experience we had during our week-long stay at Tranquility Base. We were a family of diverse needs, grandparents, parents and grandchildren. This condo could not have been a better fit for everyone. We loved it! The location of this condo within the complex is ideal; set back from a quiet side road, overlooking the pool where the grandchildren played and the hot tub just a few steps away. There is easy access to a safe walking path with a pleasant stroll to either Shipwreck Beach or Poipu Beach. What we loved the most about our week were nights spent on our tree-house lanai, when soft lights line the walking path , and up-lights illuminate the palm trees as trade winds clatter in the palms, all set to the sounds of rhythmic crashing of waves on Shipwreck Beach. As a family we shared the magic of our Hawaiian evenings (while other condos overlooked the parking lot). With vaulted ceilings the unit was open and spacious. The interior tastefully furnished and all the furniture and beds comfortable. Clearly the owners take great pride in their unit as each room was clean and well maintained. In the kitchen everything we needed was provided. And the central AC was a blessing after a hot day at the beach. We had a family experience we will always remember, and the only negative was that we had to leave. We definitely plan to return to Kauai, and Tranquility Base will be our first choice of accommodation.
We cannot use enough superlatives to describe how perfect Matthew and Susan's condo was for our 3-generational family holiday. Great location so close to Poipu beach on a green belt so cars optional. Even our 4 year old made the 15 min short walk to the beach. Great beach for kids with snorkelling for adults minutes further. Loved that the condo was on top floor corner looking over one of swim pools where we could see and call each other. Loved that the condo had all the basics and more. Lovely shampoo and soap and paper products. Didn't need to buy anything but our food. Such a friendly place with lots of families like ours.
Can't say enough about the managers, Great Vacation Experts. They sent so much helpful info pre-trip and then were immediately responsive while there. We felt completely looked after.
This is our4th VRBO experience in Hawaii and definitely our best. Would love to come back.
My wife and I had our first taste of Kauai earlier this month (June 2015) and it most definitely won't be our last, nor our last at Tranquility Base. We fell in love with all the island has to offer and the location and quality of our rental at Poipu Kai were way beyond our expectations. They say pictures say a thousand words, and even though the pictures of the unit and the surrounding area are amazing to view on the listing, there's no way they do justice to being their in person.
The owners were incredibly helpful with their recommendations for things to do and see while at their place, were very accessible for any questions both prior and during our stay and their attention to detail and care for their property is easily recognizable as you enter and experience an ultra clean and neat property.
We've traveled around the world and stayed high and low in hotels and private properties, have used a range of services and enjoyed a lot of destination holidays. The combination of the quality of this property, the value for money, location and general setting, and proximity to a range of great Kauai experiences (beaches, restaurants, hikes, etc.) puts this trip and this stay at the top of our list. We just returned from a lovely two week stay at Tranquility Base with our family of two adults and two 12 yr old girls. We have stayed in various condos through out Hawaii, and this has been our best experience so far. The location of the condo within the development is ideal, next to the pool with easy access to the greenbelt paths and nearby beaches. The interior of the condo is tastefully furnished, and meticulously maintained. The care of the owners is in evidence, and we felt as though we were sharing someone's home as opposed to a rental unit. We had a marvelous time, and our only complaint was that we had to leave. We definitely plan to return to Kauai, and Tranquility Base will be our first choice of accommodation.
Overall a very nice place and the pictures on the website are true to how it looks. We did not have any issues during our stay so didn't have to contact Matt or the rental company he uses for any fixes etc. Everything was great! We used the rental company to book our luau night at the Sheraton as well as the Island Helicopters tour. The Luau was outside and had a good time. The helicopter tour was a fantastic way to see the island with a stop at a waterfall filmed in Jurassic Park.
The condo's furnishings, bathrooms and kitchen are updated and comfortable. Matt has done a great job on ensuring that a visitor's stay is as relaxing as possible. It truly is a tranquility base.
Location wise it was fantastic to be close to the pool as those that stayed on the lanai could watch the rest of us in the pool. We did the short walk to baby beach as our morning routine. (followed up by the tasty acai bowls from Aloha Aina Juce Bar).
The grounds at poipu kai are well kept and it seemed like someone sweeps up all the fallen flowers etc almost every day.
We were sad to have to come home and would not hesitate to stay here again!
Fabulous condo for our family vacation. Lots of room for everyone. The furnishings, bathrooms and kitchen were all very nice. We enjoyed being so close to the pool. It was great to be on the greenbelt trail and it was just about 5 minutes walk each way to Poipu Beach Park and Shipwreck beach. There is just one grill at the pool which sometimes was a bit tricky to coordinate your dinner. People staying there were all very nice and several times, we were able to just share the large grill at the same time. Internet in the condo was often slow but it may be the service on the island not necessarily what is in the condo. We did have adult children with us so there were a lot of devices in use which also could have been the issue.
Overall, we really enjoyed the condo and would recommend it highly.
