About Klaus Heinemann
Ever since we discovered The Sea Ranch in 1970, it has remained our favorite vacation destination. The natural beauty is, every time anew, amazing. The climate at Sea Ranch is markedly warmer and sunnier than elsewhere on the Central California coast (i.e., between Monterey and Bodega Bay).
Klaus Heinemann purchased this House in 1982
Why Klaus Heinemann chose Sea Ranch
We discovered Sea Ranch shortly after we had immigrated to the United States, and immediately fell in love with it, probably because it reminded us in natural beauty of the Amalfi Coast in Italy and in climate of the German North Sea islands. We purchased our lot and built Casa Pacis in 1983 and enjoyed every minute of our numerous stays in this gorgeous environment ever since. It is remarkable that, even though many years passed since we first visited Sea Ranch, the unique character of this incredible place has been preserved. In 2010/2011, much of the interior and exterior was renovated.
What makes this House unique
--- Close to ocean and ocean waves sounds; --- unobstructed ocean views from almost everywhere inside; --- lots of privacy, peaceful location --- next buildings far away (undeveloped lots in front and back, commons on sides) --- less than 100 yards from the desirable bluff trail --- hot tub built into ocean view deck --- desirable open fireplace --- free Internet and long distance/international phone

Great Property in Sea Ranch
Great property, well kept in a beautiful area. Saw more stars than I ever have. Beach is walkable, trails are fantastic. Thank you!
This is a lovely retreat for couples looking for a moment away from the hustle and bustle.
Beautiful, relaxing time
The rental was perfect. The location in the meadow, near the ocean, was serene and private. We saw more wildlife this trip than ever before. We definitely plan on reacting this house again.
Sea ranch getaway
Our stay was nice. Peace is a good name for the house. The spa was so great. I slipped in on our second night. The great trail to the cathedral was a fun adventure and access to the lovely beach was a frequent visit. I did notice a couple things.
The lid on the coffee pot was broken and would Fall off when pouring water into reservoir The MB sliding door is really really hard to open and close. I did miss a small finger hold on the LR screen slider.
A mouse did visit our first night and gave a good try at getting into our crackers☺️In the kitchen.
Seems you’ve had this great house for a while and u are lucky to have the resources to enjoy it as well as your other homes.
Thanks. Hope we left things as expected
Indeed, we make it clear in our pre-arrival communication that, where Casa Pacis and other Sea Ranch homes are located, wildlife such as raccoons live side by side with us human "intruders." They love to get inside the houses and enjoy foods left in the open, and they then happily retreat back to their habitat -- and the only way to prevent this from happening is to diligently keep the doors closed at night. Meanwhile, the housekeepers found no traces of mice ...
We try to keep the house in perfect shape, as is corroborated by our average star-rating of 4.8 stars in over 128 (!) reviews. But then, a sliding door can get out of track and is then a bit harder to move than normal ...
At Casa Pacis ("House of Peace") our valued guests cannot only abundantly observe peaceful wildlife, such as deer, rabbits, or even cute raccoon families -- as these guests experienced -- but we can all but guarantee that they will notice whale spouts from the comfort of the living room, bedroom, or the view swing in the loft.
Most importantly, we are delighted that these guests, as did countless others, enjoyed their stay.
Cozy, bright and in perfect location
Highly recommended. The house is perfect for a Sea Ranch getaway. It is located close to some very nice beaches and coves, has very nice views of the ocean from every room, very cozy and comfortable. Large windows in every room bring in light. Nearest houses are far enough to give a sense of privacy. The owner makes the stay easy with clear instructions and helpful hints posted around the house. Thank you!
Beautiful Seaside Retreat
I really enjoyed my stay at Casa Pacis. The cabin itself is lovely, clean, and has a super cool retro vibe. It was wonderful to wake up in the morning to the views of the waves crashing against the shore and to wake up with the shine of Sirius twinkling into the bedroom. There's lots of books to enjoy and I particularly loved reading through the collection of American short stories.
Please do make sure to take time to read through the rules. There's a handy binder the host leaves for you so you can reference what to do (or not do!) during your stay.
Looking forward to hopefully returning to this place one day.
Indeed, the Sea Ranch "Rules" -- albeit easy to follow -- have become quite important. In an effort to minimize the impact of Short Term Rentals on the resident Sea Ranch community, the Association has imposed a strict set of rules that became effective on 1/1/2019. They apply to all rental homes and limit occupancy, sound and light intrusion onto other properties, and prohibit smoking, flying drones, trespassing, and speeding. They require extensive signage.
Located on the Pacific Ocean Coast; hiking (10 miles ocean bluff trail, tens of miles of meadow & hill-side trails with beautiful ocean views); Swimming (3 recreation centers with saunas and tennis courts), all free of charge; many miles of Sea Ranch internal roads with very little traffic are ideal for leisurely bike riding.
