Bird lovers and nature lovers will adore Noarlunga. It is located in a 50+ acre area of bush which is full of wildlife and birds. Right next door is the Coastal Reserve National Park which extends all along the deserted shoreline to the national park at Wilson's Promontory. We plan to maintain all this acreage as a nature reserve in perpetuity and by coming to stay at Noarlunga you are helping us in this endeavour. Look at the location in Google Earth and you will see just how vital it is to protect this unique piece of remnant bushland.
The entrance to Winkarlin Beach is less than 100 meters from the driveway of Noarlunga. The intertidal zone can be wet but once you reach the beach it is safe and sandy. At high tide go for a swim and at low tide go fishing off the 'flat rock'. Noarlunga means 'fishing place' in the aboriginal Kuarna language and there are a number of good fishing spots close by.
If you prefer to stay close to home, you can watch wombats, echidnas and other animals come to the back garden pond for a drink and a dip. We have a list of over 100 species of birds that can be seen at or around Noarlunga.
Please ask if you would like to bring your dog with you. We do not generally allow them in the house but you can bring their bedding and they can stay in our outside dog run and kennel.
You will be treading lightly at Noarlunga as all the electricity is solar powered. However this means you do need to be prepared to do without a microwave and TV! The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas cooker, solar powered fridge and the necessary pots and pans.
Two comfortable queen bedrooms are provided, each with its own ensuite shower. In addition there is a bathroom, dining area, family room, living room with a gas fire, and a third bedroom/study area which can accommodate one or two children. What makes Noarlunga a cozy house in the cooler months is a fine wood burning stove located in the ncentral family room.
At night try turning out the lights and looking at the stars! You will be amazed by what you can see once you have left all the towns behind.
If you want the excitement of surfing it is only a 20 minute drive to the terrific beaches at Waratah Bay or the patrolled beach at Sandy Point. Alternatively, you can explore the quieter beaches of Corner Inlet where you are much more likely to meet Black Swans than people.
Corner Inlet is the most easterly, and consequently the warmest, of Victoria's large bays. It has a complex network of beaches, mangroves, saltmarsh, mud banks, seagrass beds, rocky islands and deeper channels. Corner Inlet supports huge numbers of migratory water birds and healthy populations of seafloor animals and plants that are rare or absent elsewhere in Victoria. For more details check out the Parks Victoria website.
Click on the Satellite option on the map to see the Winkarlin bush island and how it connects to the Coastal Reserve.
During the warmer months you may see snakes around and about but if you give them some space they are quick to leave. Mosquitos and sandflies can be a bother so it is wise to bring bug spray to discourage them.

Lovely quite and secluded spot
We took visitors from the Scotland to visit Wilsons Prom and stayed at Noarlunga. It was a lovely spot with everything we needed. We enjoyed the birdlife and the quite and peaceful setting. It is a place to wind down and leave your modcons at home - highly recommend a stay.
Lovely Spacious Property
We really enjoyed the Queens long birthday weekend staying in the house. Great space, fun for the kids and central to everywhere we wanted to be. We followed all the guidelines to keep electricity to a minimum, and we had no problems at all. The old house got chilly in the evening, but the wood fire was perfect to snuggle up in front of.
Beautiful country charm!
We just arrived back into Melbourne after an amazing 3 night get away. Noarlunga was the break we needed! The house is much larger than we expected and fit 6 adults very comfortably. The house itself is quirky and full of charm, and the fireplace was a big highlight for us! The fact that there is no tv or microwave and that the place is run on solar power was highly appealing to us and definitely wasn't an issue. Would highly recommend this property and we will definitely be back!
We had a wonderful 2 night stay at noarlunga. This 3 bedroom 3 bathroom cottage was very comfortable. Everything was kept super clean by the owners. The location was very convenient for our visit to Wilson's prom. On the first day we explored the bush around the cottage and the beach that is a few minutes walk away. It's amazing to have the beautiful scenery to yourself with no one else around. On the second morning, we had a wallaby visit us in the yard. Magical experience in the bush but with all the amenities of a hotel. Highly recommend.
Immediate area not so good for walking, but Wilsons Prom is about 30 minutes away and is very good. Property provided excellent accommodation for our party of 4 adults and 2 children
Lovely Edwardian feel
Very private feel in bush garden. Tranquil and restful. Clean edwardian cottage.
