The cottage is very charming and comfortable. We loved the comfy beds, well equipt kitchen, tasteful decor and fireplace. The mountain view from upstairs is magic. Owners were very attentive to details with thoughtful inclusions. Dont think the photos do the cottage justice and it was much nicer in reality. Thanks for the lovely stay.
Blue Mountains Accommodation at its Best.
This was our second time staying at Currawong Cottage. Outstanding accommodation. Warm, comfortable and cosy with spectacular views and sunsets. Fantastic kitchen with everything you need to cook wonderful meals. The cottage demonstrates the owner's great attention to detail both in function and intelligent design. The location is perfect in accessing all bush walks and sights that the Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park has to offer. Our friends who accompanied us were most impressed. We will be back again.
Everything you need for a comfortable stay
We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived late, there was loaf of bread, milk and eggs were provided. None of these tiny amounts barely enough to make cup of tea. Whole litre both lite and full cream. It's these little things that make you feel welcomed. Didn't have to rush out to shops after long drive.
Thank you we loved our stay. Loved the view from the upstairs balcony. We made sure to have breakfast with the view every morning we were there!!we will loved to come back!
Amazing view of valley and escarpment
The cottage is very attractive, clean and tidy. It has a wonderful old world aspect, especially the bedrooms, the front two of which are sunny and light and would be nice to lie about in reading at any time of day. The beds are excellent. The view of the mountains is from the upstairs lounge only, but it is a lovely light room with comfy couches and windows in three directions (though no fireplace). To the west is a wonderful view of the valley, an escarpment and the ranges in the distance. As everyone says, it is a treat to watch the sunset from here. During our stay we had sunny windless days which meant we could be on the deck, from which the views and birdlife are at their best and the sun keeps you warm. We could hear the highway but you don't hear it inside and wouldn't hear it from the deck if the wind was coming from the west. The upstairs lounge is warm and cosy but we struggled to keep warm downstairs despite keeping the electric oil heaters and reverse cycle aircon on constantly and the gas heater on much of the time. The fire is in a downstairs living room by the kitchen, and as has been mentioned by other reviewers, although cheerful-looking, adds very little heat - due to the fan not working. You can't sit around it because the heat does not reach the seating. So, although this cottage in all other ways is great, we were very disappointed by the fire, which along with the view, is the thing we love most about staying in the Blue Mountains. If you kept the gas heater on at all times you would likely be warm enough in midwinter, but our caution about the carbon monoxide and nitrous oxide gases that are emitted from un-flued gas heaters prevented us from doing this.
Lovely weekend away.
Beautiful turn of last century cottage which has been modernised while retaining period features. Comfortable bedrooms and nice kitchen and bathrooms. Plenty of heating options such as reverse a/c, gas heater, bar heaters, electric blankets and open fireplace ( although fireplace has poor heat output but nice ambience). Upstairs living area has amazing valley views with floor to ceiling windows and an outdoor deck - although too cold for this time of year. A reasonable 10-15 minute walk to Blackheath village and railway station.
Very pleasant stay.
Second to none
Once again we had a magical weekend staying at currawong cottage. The cottage is amazing, it is warm and cozy and has heaps of space. We were a family of 8 and celebrated my 55th birthday. We love it so much. There is so much thought put into the comfort of guests. Thank you Annette, your cottage is the best. Jacqui
