Eagles and osprey soar by so close you can see their feathers and hear their wings!
The herons fish right on our beach most mornings,

Come on out!
Hope to see you soon to welcome you to this unique and delightful beach property in the great Northwest!
We love to be on the beach with our kids, friends, and grandchildren! We sail, too, and have anchored our boat in the bay out front.
Summer crabbing has been abundant most summers. THE best Dungeness Crab!!! Such feasts! And eating freshly caught salmon is superb. My husband, Steve, and I have raised our family in this part of the Northwest, exploring and going on adventures on land and by boat. We enjoy sharing the beauty of this property with others and we love our times here by ourselves, too...the quiet, the water, the birds, the rhythms of the wind and water. Come see!
Lynne Nielsen purchased this house in 2006
We bought our place in 2006 because of its location, right at the entrance to beautiful Hood Canal in Puget Sound, with beaches to walk for miles, and kayaking and boating right from the saltwater beach, and a 270ft private pier. There are several buildings on the property---Heron House is the larger of two rental dwellings (the Kingfisher is smaller yet has access to the same beaches and boats)---and the view to the west with the snow-capped mountains, the birds soaring, the sunsets...well, these things are good food-for-the-soul for us. We do not take any of this beauty for granted, for sure. You'll see for yourself when you come for a stay.
Our family has 'eyes for agates!' Grandpa taught us all how to see them among the other rocks, especially when the sun is at a slant, and the agates just glow as you scan the beach at your feet. And we have sand dollars galore! The 270 ft private pier affords us many hours of fun, fishing and crabbing (in season) and watching the jelly fish travel on their way. Having the pier, and being on the beach, are unique features that we enjoy out here. The neighbors are friendly and respectful. Oh, and sometimes at night you can hear a mama seal with her pup out on our float in the spring. Amazing!
And if you want city-life, there are towns nearby for touring and shopping and eating and movies.
Come on out and see for yourselves!
We'll have the house sparkling clean and ready for you! :)
The Heron House at Twin Spits in Hansville is a wonderful place to stay! Quiet and relaxing. Fresh "marine"air with gorgeous views of the Hoods Canal. Great access to beach and nature walks. The house is comfortable and furnished with all you might need for your stay. The owners are very accomodating. I would highly recommend this property if you are looking for some peace and quiet near the water!
The home is so comfortable and they allow the use of kayaks, lifejackets and more. Everything you need to have a great vacation with an incredible view.
The property was beautiful, clean and had the atmosphere/comfort of being in your own home. Also , while making arrangements, Lynne couldn't have been more attentive/responsive to my calls. If you will be in the area, this is definitely one to consider. Enjoy!!!
I can only echo Elizabeth L's review, because we are the parents who came to Heron House to celebrate my husband's 85th birthday. To add my observations, I will say that Lynn and Steve have furnished a home in such impeccable good taste, with only the nicest quality of everything, especially in the kitchen and bathrooms. It's the sort of home you'd want to own just as is...just walk in and start living there. Even the books reflect the taste of the owners, and everything has been provided for the visitors' comfort and pleasure. Lynn dropped by to make sure we could find everything and provided the only thing we needed....a card table....within an hour. I particularly appreciated the safety features of the first floor bathroom; the entire first floor was accessible and comfortable. I can't say enough for the whole environment there, and the hosts are simply the best! We'd love to come back to Heron House in crab season.
My sibs and parents came to Heron House to celebrate my dad's 85th birthday. It was perfect for our needs. The house and property are even more beautiful than they look in the photos. The first floor of the house and the dock were easily accessible for people who can't manage stairs, and the second floor loft provided plenty of comfortable sleeping space for the four siblings. Highlights of the property: expansive westerly views, sunsets, access to the beach, use of the pier, kayaks, abundant bird life, tidepooling, etc. Highlights of the house: lovely décor, very comfortable beds with high-quality bedding, large, well-stocked kitchen, wood-burning stove for those chilly nights. I hated to leave, and would love to come back. They also have a second smaller cottage that is sometimes available for rent -- I didn't get to see inside it but it enjoys the same beautiful view, beach access, and view of the dock.
We never wrote our review of our stay last year so thought we would finally take the time to write one. This place was amazing! We had a great time. Myself, my wife Vickie, her daughter Kami and her daughter Madie and friend and their new baby all stayed for a week. The kids had a great time looking for shells and even getting wet. We cooked our own meals and ate like kings. We even enjoyed the fire pit. The weather was perfect. Can't wait to go back. We're hoping we can this September. Eric & Vickie Owens
We have such an amazing beach to walk for miles, to find shells and agates, take photographs as you watch the entertaining antics of birds and seals and waves making extraordinary patterns and sounds. Our house is comfortable, well-appointed for your relaxation! Plan for some Family Time or a time-for-two. Or a Girlfriends' Getaway! Or invite some fishin' buddies to hang out with you...and conveniently moor your boat on the float at the end of our private pier. This area has many other points of interest, too.
From here you can explore Nordic-style Poulsbo with restaurants, antiquing, shopping, galleries and museums. And the Olympic Peninsula offers sights for day trips, like the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend, the Lavender Festival in Sequim, taking a day trip to the ocean, or hiking our local Hansville Trail System and more. Museums, golfing, nearby casinos, and the quaint Port Gamble General Store serves particularly great breakfasts (25-min.drive). Point No Point Lighthouse tour. Kingston Farmers' Market on Saturdays. Or simply stay put and RELAX! The eagles and ospreys put on quite a show in all kinds of weather!
Point No Point Casino offers headliner-entertainment, and a variety of eating spots--good food. The casino is about 10 minutes from our door, and makes for some fun times with friends, when you are not beach combing or napping or reading just one more chapter of that good book! Our kitchen has EVERYthing you might need for cooking up a storm. Sometimes it is fun to put in a pan of brownies, or get a picnic ready for down by the fire pit. And the stars at night are amazing!
