About Adam Tucker
Adam is originally from Marblehead, Ma and grew up loving these waters. Carrie is from Pennsylvania and Delaware, but spent memorable summer days on the marthas vineyard beaches as a young child. In 2000, we were married at the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown and decided to put down some roots. Although our primary home is currently in Westchester, NY we plan to retire in this home when our 3 children have grown.
Adam Tucker purchased this House in 2011
Why Adam Tucker chose Edgartown
We love the elegance and detail of this Federal home built in the early 1800s and the location is simply, awesome. We can walk out the door and be at the center of town in 30 seconds, yet our street is home to many longstanding summer home owners who take pride in their homes.
What makes this House unique
Because this home is primarily for our own vacation use, it is furnished and appointed with exquisite details. It truly feels like a luxury home, not like a rental. It is only available to the rental public for a few select weeks.

Fabulous house and location
Beautiful renovated captains house - loved our stay!
Beautiful and warm
Well appointed, modern amenities with old town feel.
Rented this beautiful home for a destination wedding weekend. Home is spacious and everybody had their own area for "quiet" time. Located right in the center of town with great access to shops, restaurants, and local attraction. No need to rent a vehicle. Ideal location for a family or weekend getaway.
The quintessential in-town home
We just returned from a week at this beautiful home. In 30+ years of renting beach houses, this was the most beautifully decorated home we've ever rented. Tastefully appointed & well-stocked (including good, sharp knives for cooking- a rarity in rental homes!) We enjoyed all the kids games & bikes for trips to Katama Store each morning. It felt like we were staying in the beautiful home of friends and not just a rental house. We've rented in Katama for years and wanted to try being "in-town" this year-- and we loved it! It's 1/2 block from town but still quiet- especially at night (even the noise from crowds waiting for Obama outside of Alchemy one night weren't really heard at the house). being in town was great, and yet the beach is a really close drive too. it's the best of all worlds. If you have a 4 Wheel drive vehicle, get the pass to drive on the beach at Norton Point. We also have the Cape Pogue (Chappy) pass, which worked especially well this year, as the breach if closed and you can drive to Chappy right from Norton without dealing with the ferry (which isa fun Vineyard rite of passage, but lines can be long and it's not cheap). The chappy beaches are MUCH less crowded so I was glad we did both passes this year so we could access a quieter beach that was only 1 min past Norton. The bay side is also a lot better the further you go out-- less gunky!) I also recommend Morning Glory Farm, The Farm Institute, Katama Airfield, Alchemy, Cesca's. If you are looking for the quintessential historic Edgartown home, this is it. Positives: location, owners were lovely to correspond with, well-stocked, beautifully decorated. great shower (upper).
Negatives: although there is room for 2 families, it's probably better for 1 family, as the 2nd Fl MBR is really better than the LL Queen one. No A/C on the first floor, which was ok for main rooms, but not as comfortable for the couple that stayed in the 1st fl BRs. The 1 parking space was inconvenient, but not deal-breaker. 2 small cars would fit, but 2 SUVs or wagons wouldn't. (actually, check if here is some kind of restriction on # of cars regardless of size). We parked at school a few blocks away, which was not super convenient, but ok. Also, no outdoor shower, which I typically love at the beach. lastly, it is a small home- more than 1 faOne rec for the owner is to get a salad spinner (maybe I just missed it??) All in all, we loved the house and highly recommend for a beautiful home in town.
This rental home is intended for SINGLE FAMILIES with one vehicle (for example; a family with 2-4 children and a caregiver, grandparent, sibling OR the direct family of bride/groom-to-be). The driveway is not equipped for more than one vehicle and is stated so on the lease, in order to protect the professional gardens. If a second vehicle is necessary, long term parking is available at the elementary school 4 blocks away.
Central A/C is installed upstairs and is currently being installed downstairs for Summer 2016.
The kitchen IS stocked with a salad spinner, as well as full stock of necessary cooking items including (but not limited to) large lobster/corn pot, prep knives, cutting boards, baking sheets, baking dishes, lasagna dish, serving bowls, wine glasses, plastic dishes/cups for outdoors.
quaint and comfortable
We just returned from our visit and cannot say enough about this house! We were on the Vineyard for a family wedding and were able to walk everywhere we needed to be. The house is so comfortable and decorated very nicely with attention to every detail. We are already talking about planning our next trip. We have traveled a lot and I can honestly say this may just be our favorite!
A home away from home!
This home was everything and more than we expected. We truly felt at home and not in a rental because of the decor and attention to detail – but not just inside, outside, too. We started and ended our days on the back deck. It’s perfect! The location is also spectacular. We only drove our car to the beach and walked everywhere else. The owners are pleasant, responsive and helpful. And their restaurant suggestions were spot-on; we visited them all throughout the week -- sometimes twice! Our favorites were The Port Hunter, Atlantic, Atria, and Alchemy, and all are within walking distance of the house. (The top restaurants for our kids were The Shanty and Atlantic.) We highly recommend this home. It's a fantastic property!
