Magnificent location and house

  • 5 of 5

Relax and do as much as you want of as little. Catch you lunch, bring a good book and enjoy a glass of wine. Explore Hasting Caves and the thermal pools, or enjoy the serenity of Cockle Creek and surrounding beaches. The house has all you would need whether it be a cold winters day or enjoying the mild temperatures in summer. There is something for the whole family to do. A welcome experience thoroughly enjoyed.

Did not want to leave!!

  • 5 of 5

This was the best holiday spot we have been to. The river was incredibly calming, the views of stars at night spectacular and the house was warm and comfortable. Loved the decor and the view of the river from the loft bed in the morning was fabulous. Fell in love with the geese and it was like having pets. We both felt so incredibly sad leaving, which we have never felt before at the end of a holiday. Will have to come back in summer too. Thank you so much!

Fantastic house and view

  • 5 of 5

we had such a great time at the Mill house. Wood fires were enough to keep us warm, great beds and very welcome electric blankets. The property is beautiful, it must be spectacular in the spring/summer. We caught a few fish-salmon and trout, on the river , it was just magic on the dock. Loved the geese, even the naughty one. very quiet and secluded, but still close enough to drive to everything we wanted to see in the Huon valley. Thanks for a wonderful week.

We loved it1

  • 4 of 5

We are a family with three young children and choosing to stay at the Lune Mill River House was a great decision as there is much to do in the area. It was a quick and scenic drive to Cockle Creek where we did a short hike, Southport was even closer where the kids enjoyed a swim whilst we picked frresh mussels off the rocks. I wish we could have stayed longer to really enjoy the seclusion. The house being right on the water was perfect, we woke to seeing fog on the river, watched water birds whilst we fished for trout. We had heard that we might see a dolphin but unfortunately not this time. Room for so many more in the house, next time we'll bring friends! Loved it.

Very poor

  • 1 of 5

Very dissapointed with the standard of accomodation in terms of building condition, safety issues and general cleanliness. The experience is marketed as rustic and not for those seeking luxury accomodation which in theory sounds fine.....being campers and having stayed in accomodation all over Tasmania and beyond with no major gripes I would rate us as relatively easy to please. The Lune River Mill House was a huge dissapointment for us. Upon arrival we were immediately struck by the cluttered, general untidiness of the interior and lack of cleaning effort to properly prepare the property for incoming guests ......dusty and dirty with a liberal sprinkling of fly carcasses! The large shards of glass mixed with accumulated grot beneath the fridge pretty well summed up the cleaning effort. Cooking facilities are sub-standard with ageing appliances and no extraction fan/rangehood. Cooking facilities are arranged very poorly in terms of ergonomics and safety. Safety is a massive concern with many dangers present partcularly for toddlers and the elderly both inside and outside. I have never expressed dissapointment about accomodation in writing before and certainly do not fall into the quick to complain category. Our experience on this occasion however so poor given the fee charged that I would consider it remiss of us not to express our thoughts.
