Property description

This property captures a wonderful rustic Japanese aura. The long low building sits like a floating platform amidst the naturalistic landscaped garden. The structure's weathered, timber walls blend with the surrounds. The main expanse of the building, except for the glass walls on either side, has the open quality of a breezeway. This is the living space, barely separated from the babbling creek setting and the Japanese style sculptured garden. Silver birches, hydrangeas and iris are just a few of the feature plantings. Beyond the creek, cows and sheep graze on Mohawk Hill.

The cottage interior also has a naturally simple style. Smooth white wall and ceiling surfaces compliment elements of wood and glass. Carpet provides a quiet, soft texture underfoot. The focal point of the lounge area is a delightful wood burner. A big comfortable couch invites you to laze away the hours reading a favourite book or listening to a CD.

Slept really well in the bed, the fold out dining table was perfect for the jigsaw puzzle, and the breakfast food provided was yummy! Thanks for a wonderful mid week retreat for Valentine's day 2018 :)

A very therapeutic sojourn

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with our two small dogs have recently spent a very enjoyable and relaxing three nights at Musk Creek Hollow. The selling point for us was definitely the spectacular glass wall in the lounge room which looks straight out onto gorgeous Silver Birches, with all their colour and light, and natural creek greenery below. The cottage is well equipped and many items were thoughtfully supplied such as bread, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, tea, fresh coffee pods and toiletries. The towels and sheets were snowy white and luxuriant and the furniture was very comfortable. Our little dogs enjoyed being able to look in on us from their fully enclosed courtyard. Communication with Martin was excellent and he thoughtfully provided us with information about local attractions and eating places prior to our arrival. We would definitely like to stay at Musk Creek Hollow again.

Owner's Response: Dear Diane, thank you so much for your glowing review. I a man so pleased that you all enjoyed your stay at Musk Creek Hollow. I must admit, the glass wall overlooking the silver birches is also one of my favourite views as I feel like I am floating above the garden amongst the trees. I am so glad that you also found this a highlight of your stay. I look forward to your return visit. Cherrs, Martin

Good location but not exactly serene!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is in a good location 6-7 mins drive out of town. Many reviews comment on the serenity which is why I booked the cabin, but I found the traffic noise from the main road about 15m away quite intrusive. Everything else was great.

Owner's Response: Hi Lisa, thanks for taking the time to offer your feedback & I'm sorry that you found the location a bit noisy. I have tried my best to overcome traffic noise with the fencing and plantings but obviously that didn't work well enough for you. It may have been a particularly busy couple of days with increased traffic so again apologies that your country escape was not quite to your satisfaction. Regards, Martin

Cute & Cozy

Loved this little place, dog friendly and good secure yard (handy as it's on a main road) close to winery's and a short drive into Daylesford or Hepburn. Owners are super helpful - highly recommend

Glorious retreat in the countryside.

  • 5 of 5

It is not often that you enter a rental property and immediately feel the city tension drain from you. Using clever design this small house in Musk has been transformed in to a wonderfully relaxing space. Situated just minutes from Daylesford and the Wombat state forest it is possible to walk in the surrounding countryside and enjoy mineral springs and some of the state's most beautiful gardens.

Owner's Response: Hi Ian, thank you for your review. I am so pleased that you had a relaxing time at Musk Creek Hollow. You should try and wrangle a visit during autumn or winter, then you can make use of the wood burning fire and enjoy some 'you' time lazing on the couch with a good book or watching a dvd. I look forward to your return visit. Cheers, Martin
