My wife and I and our two young adult daughters live in the northern suburbs of Chicago. We would love to have you and your family as our guests in our home away from home.
Kevin Forrest purchased this cottage in 2003
My family and I have traveled to Door County since I was a child. My wife and daughters so loved spending time at my parents' home down the road, that we all decided that we wanted to own our very own slice of paradise.
We enjoy the very homey feeling that our property has. It is a very comfortable home with many places for relaxation.
Our family spent 3 days at Hidden Glidden cottage and had a great time. It is conveniently located near Whitefish Dunes State Park, which has an excellent beach. The amenities were numerous, and the cottage has a nice layout with multiple options for enjoying relaxation time. We loved being in Door County and not overcome by tourists!
Although the weather didn't cooperate with our vacation at Hidden Glidden Cottage, we enjoyed our stay. The communication, directions and instructions were accurate and easy and showed extra care by The Forrest's to make sure that our stay got off on the right foot. The cottage offered modern amenities such as easy-to-access Wi-Fi and satellite television.
If the weather had been better we would have enjoyed the deck area and perhaps a bon-fire. There is a lot of deck furniture surrounding the cabin and a nice fire pit. We shared our morning coffee with a deer browsing mere feet from the picture window in the Great Room. We found the bed to be very comfortable and the setting quiet and relaxing. We met a few of the neighbors while enjoying the beach and they were very friendly. We ended up cutting our stay in half due to the rainy weather, but we did enjoy our stay and will definitely consider staying there again.
The cottage is really hidden, it cant be seen from the street (and consequently only nature view from any place of the cottage). Grill, fireplace bikes and kayak available. Good communication with the owner before and during our stay. We would have given 5 stars, but the quality of the potable water was not as expected. The hot water contains high amounts of iron, maybe from the water heater. It really smells "iron" and does not taste very good. Despite this little issue we had a very nice stay and enjoyed our vacation at the Hidden Glidden Cottage.
Our overall experience was awesome we would definitely come back if you would have us.
Very cute and cozy. Would've liked to enjoy the beach but it smelled really bad because of the dead animal. Excess was down the road but easy to get to.
Maybe some solar lights in fire pit area it gets pretty dark over there. Or even a light you can turn off and on when not in use.
Maybe the caretakers could knock down some of the spiderwebs that was kind of creepy.
Chimenea On back patio would be awesome.
Ok .....done being picky.... Can't help it we are city girls...
But if you ever wanted a great place to go this would be it very nice it was a pleasure doing business with you guys would definitely come back.
My husband and I wanted to make a quick trip up to Door County, and we decided upon Hidden Glidden. We are so happy with that decision! We felt welcomed immediately with a lot of great information and amenities provided for us. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the screened-in porch off the side of the kitchen. We really appreciated how secluded the cottage felt, even though we were only a short drive away from downtown Sturgeon Bay. We couldn't be happier with our stay at Hidden Glidden, and we wouldn't count out visiting again.
We had a great time at Hidden Glidden Cottage! The house was perfectly outfitted and comfortable. It was clean and had all the things we needed for a fun weekend.
If I had any critiques it would be that the house was a bit far from town which can be tough with young children. We sometimes go back and forth multiple times per day due to nap schedules etc. and the other other thing on the topic of naps was that there were no curtains in the bedrooms. And while the rooms are private it's tough for nap time with small children in the middle of the day.
Everything else about our stay in Door County was wonderful and we would recommend the Hidden Glidden Cottage for sure. We took my almost 1 year old son to The Farm and had a wonderful time! It was a very cute attraction, perfect for young kids.
