The balcony is equipped with loungers and table and chairs for outside dining.
Double doors lead to the interior; turn left and you are in the lounge dining area with sofa TV and a library of books and games. The sofa converts to a twin trundle bed and the room, has its own full bathroom.
As you enter from the Balcony the kitchenette is ahead of you with fridge, electric grill-pan, coffee maker, microwave & toaster oven and sink.
Turning right from the Balcony leads to the master bedroom suite, over 28 ft long with double windows to appreciate the amazing views. The bedroom has a walk-in closet & en-suite bathroom with double sink and walk-in shower.
All accommodation is equipped with fans and air conditioning.
Your hosts: Your hosts have many years in the hospitality business, have lived on the island for 15 years and are on-site to assist when you have questions.
The surrounding area: The villa is set on elevated ground with views of both the North and South shores of this tropical island paradise. From our own dock you can use our 2 person kayaks across the sheltered bay to the deserted island of Moriah Cay. This large marine sanctuary is where young grouper fish, rays, turtles and conch grow to maturity. The island has miles of white soft sand beaches to walk and search for shells. Or explore the inland lake and watch the Ospreys fishing. The colors of the waters vary according to the depth, from dark turquoise to pale green. The chances are that the only footsteps you will see are your own. Rent a car and explore the island and visit the many picture perfect beaches... That's why Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed here. According to MNBC Exuma is among the top 5 tropical islands you must visit. We hope to see you.
Things to Do: Whether you sport is scuba diving or kiteboarding, snorkeling or just relaxing in the sun on a pristine beach, Exuma can provide the venue and Harbour View the setting.
You could eat out at a different restaurant every day, many located on a beach, where local fare such as Conch, either as cracked conch (fried in batter) or conch salad, or fresh grouper or lobster. If international cuisine is more to your taste we have Sandals Resort where you can get a day pass.

We have managed rental properties for over 10 years in The Bahamas. We know the Islands and we are here to ensure that your vacation is one to remember.
Why Don chose Hartswell
We are yards from the Ocean in an area of protected water with offshore deserted islands that are designated as a marine reserve and accessible with our kayaks. We are mid way between the Eastern and Western Ends of the island and close to the best beaches.
What makes this House unique
The only way to access the marine reserve on Moriah Cay is by kayak or boat from Hartswell. It cannot be reached by a rental boat from George Town.

BEST VIEW ON THE ISLAND!
What more can you say?!? Harbour View was everything promised and more. We were speechless when we first arrived and saw the view from our balcony and bedroom. We have traveled the Caribbean extensively and have never seen anything like it! Kayaking to Moriah Cay was a fabulous experience. We were truly the only people on the most pristine beaches and sandbars. The home was lovely and our suite was great. There are two very large bathrooms which was wonderful having our college age daughter with us. Our bedroom was spacious with a large walk-in closet. The kitchenette was well supplied and convenient for breakfast and lunch. We had dinners throughout the island based on Gail's suggestions, which were excellent. Santana's was a favorite and his mother's bakery next door, amazing! Gail was so gracious and helpful with all of her suggestions. She also taught us some history of the island which was very interesting. We spent the day boating and swimming with the pigs, turtles, sharks, sting ray, iguanas, and even a few dolphins with Sugar's two sons. It's a long day in the sun but a must do! We felt very well taken care of. We explored nearly every beach on the island during our stay (a car is a must). They are all beautiful but Cocoplum at low tide was our favorite. A day trip to Stocking Island is a must as well. Don was away with family in Florida during our stay but just from our correspondence you could tell he is a class act just like his wife. He provided us with such detailed information prior to our visit that we felt like we had been there before. Our flight was cancelled and we arrived a day late. Don took care of calling our car rental company for us and offered to get us groceries. He is a kind, generous man. We arrived on a Sunday so a word to the wise is almost everything except Peace and Plenty in Georgetown at 6:30pm) is closed so plan accordingly. The remainder of the week, there is a grocery store and nice bank just a short drive away in Georgetown. In summary, we made an excellent choice for our 20th anniversary and we will defintely be back...God willing:)
Lisa and Jeff,
We are blushing! Seriously we would like to thank you for your generous comments, but more important we are so happy that you had a vacation to remember. We hope to see you again. D&G
I will start off by saying that we had an amazing time. Don and Gail are wonderful hosts. They are very kind and sincere. The rental was very clean and had everything we needed. My only disappointment was that they are not right on the water and not on or near a beach to walk to.It is about a block walk to get to the area where you can launch the kayak, it is just a launch area. We paddled out to Moriah Cay, a beautiful little island that you can see in this picture. We spent a lot of time out there exploring and we also found the most amazing private beach on the other side of Moriah Cay which we did spend some time exploring and laying out on. You have to have a car if you plan on staying at this location if you want to see the other gorgeous beaches. My favorite beach was Hoopers Bay, then Coco plum and then Cancer of Tropics, Jolly Hall was nice to. If you go to Coco Plum, make sure to go an hour before low tide. You can walk out on the sandbars and find lots of shells and sand dollars. The beaches are VERY hard to find and sometimes no parking areas so ask before you go. We did the swimming with the pigs excursion with 4 Cs. It was a long excursion. The captain and first mate were not overly friendly, they did not play any music or mingle with the guests. They served water and soft drinks on the boat. We talked to another couple that did the tour with Coastline excursions the week before and she said it was super fun. She said Coastline was a little bit more cost wise but the crew was very entertaining and they served drinks, beer and snacks on the boat, played cool music. The first mate dove for conch and made fresh conch salad for everyone on a sand bar. If you do not mind having a beach to walk on and you are planning on renting a car then this home is perfect for 2 people only. It is in a remote area so walking any where is not an option. They have a convection hot plate which is great for making breakfast, a coffee maker that takes k-cups, a microwave and a toaster oven so there are a lot of things you can make. It is sad that the local bahamian people have no respect for their beautiful Island. The island is littered with trash, and not from tourists. For 2 people this home is lovely and has a beautiful view. If you are able to kayak and have a car then I would recommend this home. Be careful driving, they drive on the left side and the roads are VERY narrow with lots of BIG potholes.
We had a perfect vacation. The weather was perfect, slight breeze and no rain until we were almost on the plane leaving. The Harbour View location was perfect. It is in the middle of beaches to the South and North and in the middle of restaurants to the South and North. Plus right out the door was Moriah Cay. We kayaked out to Moriah Cay and Man-o-War Cay on 3 separate days. Took long walks on the beaches viewing the picture perfect multi color blue ocean. To top it off, Don and Gail were the perfect hosts. They were available, if needed, to recommend our all day trip with the Four C's to view the swimming pigs, Thunderball Groto, Iguanas, etc. as well as to recommend and call for reservations at the various restaurants. We are avid beach hunters and Exuma's beaches definitely rank at the top of the list. Will be back to Harbour View.
We are so happy to hear how much you enjoyed your vacation with us at Harbour View. It was a delight having you stay with us and we do hope you decide to return.
Best wishes from Don & Gail.
We loved our stay at Harbour View. Don & Gail were fantastic! They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The hospitality is top rate!
The two small islands, a quick kayak away, are wonderful. You felt like you were in heaven. A truly remarkable experience.

Gail and I thank you for spending your vacation with us and we are thrilled that it exceeded your expectations
Great hosts and a great place to stay
There is not much more that can be said about Harbour View Vacation Rental that has not already been said before. One of the main reasons for selecting Harbour View were the many positive reviews.
Upon arriving, we were greeted by Don, who showed us around the unit. We were not disappointed, as it was very clean, just like the pictures.
During our stay, Don was there to provide recommendations on places to eat, made phone calls to verify if places were open or closed, and even made reservations with Four C’s Adventures, so we could see the swimming pigs and iguanas!
Don and Gail responded to initial inquiries right away and subsequent follow up questions leading up to our visit. They suggested bringing snacks with us, as these can be somewhat expensive in Exuma. For us, the kitchenette in the rental unit worked out great. We purchased a few things at the local grocery store(s) for breakfast and usually had a late afternoon lunch/dinner. We also used the hot plate a couple of times for a late night snack. Note to future quests – you need to place one of the pans (provided by Don and Gail) on the hot plate, before it will turn on. This will prevent you from having to ask Don for help, for something so simple!
Our recommendations for places to eat include Shirley’s, Santana’s and Splash Beach Bar. All had great food for the non seafood eaters like us.
One of the other reasons to stay at Harbour View was the chance to explore Moriah Cay. The views were spectacular and the only foot prints were ours. Pictures just do not show the real beauty of this cay. Thanks to Don and Gail for allowing guests to use their kayak to get there, and for providing moral support as we ended up getting “lost” on our adventure.
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at Harbour View. Don and Gail’s hospitality was truly exceptional. Their assistance throughout our stay really made a difference. You will not be disappointed.
Dream vacation in ideal vacation rental.
My husband and I were absolutely delighted with our stay at Harbour View Villa in Hartswell, Exuma. This was our first trip to the Bahamas, and our trip exceeded every one of our expectations. Exuma itself is such a darling slice of paradise. We've rarely found a tropical destination that felt as safe and as friendly to visit, and that was such a breeze to navigate.
We lucked out by staying with Don and Gail at Harbour View. Their beautiful house was exactly as described and photographed (only, I'd argue, even more lovely - and the views even more spectacular - in person). I could barely tear myself away from the amazing water view, and happily spent most days drinking it in on the lovely balcony and super comfortable deck chairs. The suite was spacious, spotless and very well equipped. We actually self-catered almost all our meals and found we had everything we needed (full size fridge, BBQ, induction hot plate, and new Cuisinart convection toaster oven). As a couple in our 30's, we had all the privacy we desired in a vacation rental, but with Don and Gail still within easy reach if we had any questions.
The process of booking the rental was a breeze, and Don was fast to respond to any questions via email prior to our arrival. Once in Exuma, Don and Gail went out of their way to help us get the most out of our vacation. Don helped us to organize a car for the second half of our stay and also helped us book a boat tour that took us through the Exuma cays. Don and Gail's advice and assistance was invaluable.
We loved kayaking over to the nearby cays, grabbing a bite to eat at Tropic Breeze restaurant, and of course our boat trip to see the swimming pigs, nurse sharks and iguanas. My favourite beach would have to be the stunning Tropic of Cancer beach - definitely worth a visit.
We couldn't have been happier with our trip to Exuma and our stay at Harbour View. We'd recommend it without hesitation to any of our friends and family, and we'd return in a heartbeat!
Our home is 60 yards from the Ocean and off the main highway. We have our own dock and kayak launch slip. We overlook Moriah Harbour Cay which is a deserted and protected marine reserve. The waters between our home and the Cays are sheltered and calm and a 10 minute kayak ride takes you to the beautiful beaches and warm turquoise waters that the Bahamas are famous for and where yours will be the only footprints. Voted one of the five best islands to live in a recent MSNBC article. The area is recognized as one of the best for Bone fishing. Other Activities: fishing, bone fishing, kite boarding, shelling, wind surfing, snorkeling, swimming, scuba diving, sun bathing, beach exploring, boat trips, kayaking, paddle boarding, perfecting the art of doing nothing! Golf: Golf is available at The Sandals Resort at Emerald Bay
