Hale Moana Mele is a delightful large vacation rental home located on one of Oahu's nicest sandy bottomed swimming beaches. Hale Moana Mele is a newly furnished 4 bedroom home which fronts a sandy beach and ocean front yard complete with coconut palms and a lush tropical garden. Walk out of the gated front yard onto a gorgeous postcard beautiful white sandy beach....which is protected by an outer reef making it perfect for swimming, snorkeling or just playing in the gentle surf…..fun for all ages. An early morning walk on the mostly deserted beach will convince you that you are really in paradise. Often the only footprints in the sand are yours. You are lulled to sleep at night by the soft sounds of the waves….thus the name Hale Moana Mele or House of Ocean Music.
This very special home is located in Hauula, a sleepy rural coastal village nestled between the mountains and the sea. Hale Moana Mele is a welcome retreat from the frantic hustle and bustle of Honolulu’s busy cosmopolitan lifestyle. Hauula is close to The Polynesian Cultural Center, Turtle Bay Hotel, golf, tennis and other popular attractions. A bit further on the scenic drive along the ocean you will come to historic Haleiwa town and world famous surfing sites of Sunset Beach, Bonsai Pipeline and Waimea Bay. A bus stop across the street provides easy access to the great around island bus service in case you are the only one in your group who wants to shop in Waikiki or visit a museum in downtown Honolulu.
Hale Moana Mele's first floor features a large modern kitchen completely equipped to prepare and serve a gourmet meal. This lovely home is newly furnished in tasteful Polynesian décor. The living area, dining room, bathroom and one of the twin bedrooms are on this floor.
On the second floor the large master bedroom suite and private bath has 12 foot sliding glass doors which open to the expansive ocean view from your king size bed. The second ocean view bedroom and the third bedroom share an adjacent bathroom. A lanai runs the full length of the second story and is a delightful place to sit and relax in the morning to greet the tropical sunrise.
A covered patio at the yard level is complimented with a large table and chairs, lounges and a hammock for your idyllic comfort. Also included are boogie boards and a collection of masks, reef walkers and snorkels for your use although we can’t guarantee they will fit everyone. A charcoal BBQ rounds out the outdoor accessories.
You deserve a truly relaxing tropical idyll and this unusual unique island paradise, Hale Moana Mele, is the perfect place to enjoy it..
Hale Moana Mele has been our family home for almost 24 years...born and raised in Hawaii, we found this home to be everything we remembered of old Hawaii. We are now sharing this unique home for others to enjoy.
Norman purchased this house in 1987
Hale Moana Mele is a wonderful home away from home in paradise! After comparing Oahu choices away from the beaten path, this gem owned by Norman stood out in size, location & price. Upon arrival, our group of six found the home clean & the photos & description on the home page accurate. All 4 bedrooms have ceiling fans & window AC units, which were very important to us Texans! The AC's cooled the bedrooms quickly, though a bit noisy. The beds were comfortable & the bathrooms adequate. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, pots, pans, glassware, & dinnerware. It was so helpful to have 2 new front loader washers & dryers. The two car garage was a tight fit for our rental Ford Explorer & a smaller SUV, but with patience, the garage door came down. The best part of Hale Moana Mele is to be found outdoors. The views are gorgeous, especially the sunrises & sunsets through the palm trees. There are two very nice wooden decks on the 1st & 2nd floor overlooking the water. We spent a lot of time there at night listening to the waves. We enjoyed cooking on the charcoal grill almost daily & had several meals on the lanai (covered patio). The spacious back yard has 4 palm trees that help to make a beautiful sunset postcard. The beach is accessible through the side gate of a friendly neighbor’s yard. Roger was most helpful on any questions & helped immensely with recycling issues. He even made sure our trash & recycling cans were on the curb on the correct pick-up days. The other reviews of the beach are accurate. The beach is almost completely private, as we saw only a few people walking on “our beach” daily. The waves at high tide will touch the rock wall, but at low tide, there is plenty of room for sunbathing. Norman, the owner, checked on us via phone from time to time, but he was not at all invasive. Having the owner available for any help or advice was comforting. The souvenir shop owner across the street is very friendly, & he has some great bargains in comparison with the larger towns. Our favorite meal outside of Hale Moana Mele was at Haleiwa Joe’s in Kaneohe, a 30 min. drive south. We went in to Honolulu (50 min drive) twice & were eager to get back to the peace & quiet of our small town of Hauula. If looking for the excitement of a big city, complete with the noise & traffic, stay in Honolulu; however, if you want a quiet, peaceful, relaxing vacation, book Hale Moana Mele...you will not be disappointed.
Our family of seven were very comfortable at this lovely home. The home was very clean upon our arrival. The owner checked in with us a few time to see if we needed anything. The home is centrally located for our travels to different points of interest on the island. The beach is beautiful. We enjoyed many mornings setting on the deck watching the beautiful sunrises and enjoying our coffee. I would highly recommend this home for a beautiful Hawaiian vacation.
We had a wonderful week staying here. We had six adults and we had plenty of room. The house, and Norman, were very accommodating. The beach outside the house was fun to play in even tho it was very windy our whole stay. We had a great time!
Thanks so much for the use of your home. We had a great time . Cannot say enough about the views . Thanks Norman for making our family trip so special .
House was nice, very functional. Location beautiful and close to many activities. Cool breeze relaxing and comfortable. Best value in islands.
We arrived at this beautiful home on New Year's Eve, 2014. Made a quick run into the Laie Foodland to stock up on essentials and then spent the evening watching the fireworks up and down the coast from the balcony. The house is in a perfect location for those who want to get away from it all.
Our three adult children had more room than they needed. We could have accommodated many more people than our family of five. Beds comfortable and clean. House well stocked with basics. BYO water toys--most of the ones at the house are pretty dingy, but the souvenir shop across the street has everything you need, and cheap. We played about 30 games of croquet in-between our beach walks and ocean swims. Monk seal sunned on the beach right near the house for three of the days we were there.
Highly recommend! Never wanted to leave..
Close to world class big wave surfing during winter months at nearby famous Sunset Beach, Bonzai Pipeline and Waimea Bay...watch or participate. Try hiking in the mountains behind Hale Moana Mele.
